Hardcore Covid mask wearers ...How long are you planning to wear a mask?

Wow. How nice for you and your 3 million fellow citizens of Nevada. That means as if today, Nevada has 489 deaths, or 16 per 100K.

Thing is, California has a population of 44 million; as of today, California has 5,715 deaths, or 14 per 100K which is actually less than Nevada.

Tracking Covid-19 cases in the US

One thing that California and Nevada are currently share; both are watching their cases spike 30%-50% per day because both opened up before reaching the CDC guidelines; now we're all going to pay the price for that as states have to re-implement lock-downs and go back to square one.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 people die of Covid-19 in this country every damned day because people won't stay home, they won't wear masks, they won't practice social distancing and they sure as hell won't stay out of restaurants and bars where the virus coats every glass, plate and eating utensil.

But never mind all that. As long as those dying are just old people or folks with health conditions who cares? Might as well cull the herd, right? Nobody needs 'em. :roll:

Well, masks are required by law in Illinois indoors in public spaces.

The deal with masks is that they dont protect you individually - they protect other people FROM you.

But if enough people wear masks enough - the guess is 80% of people 80% of the time - we can drastically cut transmission.

If mask wearing goes to 10%... masks wont really do anything.

So you wear your mask as long as everyone else does, and you demand the government makes masks mandatory.

A better question is how one would feel about being placed on a ventilator knowing when they are being sedated that they most likely will die alone, unable to speak to their loved ones.

I think it makes a lot of sense to wear a mask if I'm sick, so I don't spread it to other people.

Otherwise, I don't expect to die in the next 1-3 years, thus I sure hope I won't wear a mask for the rest of my life.

Do you really not understand that wearing a mask in public during a pandemic, when you could spread a potentially lethal disease without realizing it, is the rational and moral thing to do? And that once the pandemic is over, it won't be necessary to wear a mask, especially if you are not sick?

Under either two conditions: (1) Once an effective vaccine is developed and my family and I all take it, I shall stop wearing the mask, or (2) if testing becomes widespread enough and it shows that almost everybody has actually caught COVID-19 and has developed antibodies for it. I would stop wearing a mask then.
 
There are a large group of people that have existing conditions that if infected with the virus will 90% die...
The virus is not getting better because we have idiots that refuse to ware a mask so the virus will get worse
and without a vaccine this country is in big trouble it is already..trump is the center of all this and creates a
bigger disasterdaily...Europe is deciding whether to ban US tourists from coming there...trumps base are
brainless fools and the only way to deal with it is everyone in public must ware a mask...Just like other
countries we could get it under control without trump and his red neck base... and it may get to that point
so when trump gets booted out Biden can start the process of making the country safe for everyone to live...
 
I wear a mask to protect my husband, my children and grandchild, my elderly FIL who lives with us, my friends and those I may be in contact with who may become infected if I contract the virus. To not wear one may be a death sentence to an innocent human being.

It does not matter if it becomes mandatory. We will see rightwing protesters bully governors into easing restrictions. That was what happened in my state that forced reopening sooner than planned and sooner than prudence dictated. Some people take "Give me liberty to give others death" to the extreme.

Oh, good grief.

That's not how you calculate the mortality rate of a disease. It's based on how many infected people die from the disease.

It's also incredibly cruel to basically suggest that the lives of seniors are worthless.

I don't know how you missed it, but the reason why we wear masks, wash our hands frequently, socially distance and more is to prevent the disease from spreading in the first place.

Without those measures, COVID-19 would spread rapidly, overwhelm hospitals, kill around 15,000 Nevadans just from COVID-19 alone, then kill a bunch of other people because the hospitals don't have room to take patients.

For example, Nevada currently has 58,000 total cases, adds 2700 new cases per day, and that rate doubles roughly every 10 days. If that keeps up, that means by August 1st, Nevada will have 500,000 total cases and 38,000 new cases per day. By the end of the first week of August, Nevada will add more new cases per day than the total number of cases during the first 6 months of the virus.

This is why we need to act early, and take real steps like improved testing, contact tracing, stockpile PPE, social distance and so forth.

Every week I notice less people participating in the hysteria, wearing masks only where required.
 
They will wear the masks until they have exhausted all the political value from the virtue signaling.

My OP question was how long you plan on following the strict pubic social distancing protocols?

Why is this a controversial question? I’m just asking what your future plans in public life are? Is it just continued fear and panic?
 
I will wear a mask out in public around other people until it's no longer necessary to do so. Wearing one right now is the sensible and considerate thing to do. Chuck, does wearing a mask affect your perceived manhood?

I wear clothes to separate my pubic regions away from other people and will continue to do so for the duration of my life. As for wearing a mask in public, I will do so as long as is necessary to prevent exposure of COVID-19 to others in case I am asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic.

More testing equals more know exposures. even with them counting other causes of death as Corona the death rate is still dropping.

Feel free to give one example of something Fouci or one of the other so called experts have said that was not later shown to be wrong.
