The Senate wants to make lynching a federal crime. Rand Paul demands the bill be revised to avoid "minor injuries" being considered lynching. Do you guys agree with Paul here?

It's hard to say without any link to reaserch what exactly is going on. More information is needed to form a reasoned answer.

Like what is a "minor injury"

I wouldn't agree with Rand Paul if he told me that the sky is blue. He's a total maniac. I don't agree with what his neighbor did to him, I don't believe in violence, but I sure understand why he might have had good reason.

Great policy... Deny facts in order to justify your hatred... I know that you hate me...

I say breathing is important for humans. Do you agree with me or will you deny facts?

When a person is lynched aren't they murdered? That is a federal crime...

"The bill as written would allow altercations resulting in a cut, abrasion, bruise, or any other injury no matter how temporary to be subject to a 10-year penalty.

Rand Paul holds up anti-lynching legislation as he seeks changes to bill - CNNPolitics

Nah that's not "lynching," that's just brawling.

"Altercations" which might result in any minor injury? 10 years in prison? NO way!

Lynching, despite the article's attempt to muddy the water, meant a "good ole fashioned necktie party," i.e. a hanging or other form of execution without legal due process.

We already have laws for assault, battery, even murders...with enhancements.

I agree with Mr. Paul. If you are going to create a "new" crime, and want someone to spend up to 10 years in prison? It better had caused some serious harm to warrant that level of punishment.

I am against it in general.

The terms hate crime and lynching apply in general to actions taken by white people against black people. I'm not even aware of a case, although I'm sure there must be one or two, where a black guy was prosecuted for a hate crime against a white person, but every single altercation by a white guy against a black guy is defined as hate crime first ... and carries a stiffer penalty.

The same will apply to lynching. The same action taken by two different skin colors will result in a heavier sentence for the light color.
Or does anybody believe a black guy will ever be accused of lynching a white guy?

Instead of going forward and treat/punish everybody the same for identical crimes, we are going back to segregation - reversed segregation: different laws apply for different races.

10 years for an altercation that resulted in a cut or a bruise? What idiot would vote for that bill.

Nearly the whole House ... (sigh).

Add: Our lawmakers all voted for hate crime ... as if a love crime was even possible.

Why such a strong negative opinion? What has he done?

lol I never tried a love crime before. Sounds interesting. I'll have to check with the wife and see if she's up for one.

If its pestering someone for sex that keeps saying no, Done that. lol

I'm making a statement and that statement meant, in case you missed the subtlety, Rand Paul is a distasteful, lying, two-face bastard. Want proof? Okay here's just one example of what a cowardly piece of crap he is;

Aug. 2015: "Donald Trump Is a ‘Bully’ and an ‘Empty Suit’
he called him a "delusional narcissist" and issued a statement calling Trump a "fake conservative" whose comments are "all blather, non sequitur and self-aggrandizing bombast." "What do you do to a bully? You stand up to him," Rand Paul would rather have proximity to power rather than oppose Trump, so once Trump won, he switched to being a warrior for Trump even making several visits to Russia for him and alone too, Yes he did go with other republican senators to Russia, but Rand Paul made his own quiet trip to Russia just to personally deliver a letter from Trump. Rand Paul is the one that blew the whistleblowers identity despite it being protected under the Whistleblower Protection Act

How does a person like Rand Paul go from saying 'This is the worst person on the face of the Earth' regarding Donald Trump to 'I must protect Donald Trump at all costs'?

So do you feel the legislation passed should include minor injuries?

Most of the left. They've lost their minds.

By witnessing what we've all witnessed from the left for the past 3 1/2 years.

Democrats snatch defeat from the jaws of victory every time. Only this time, it was a steady march.

minor, non permanent injuries should not put someone in prison for possibly ten years.

Rand Paul will obstruct any bill that puts guardrails on police. The police union has been one of Trump's key supporters. Trump isn't about to do anything that monitors or curtails the practices of rogue cops like Derek Chauvan.

Let's not compare apples to oranges here, it is what it is, it's an anti-lynching bill. In plain words, cops and other vigilantes can't intentionally murder black men that are innocent of any crime. This bill needs to pass and it needs to pass fast. Holding up a bill as volatile as this one is asking for more trouble. Rand Paul is attempting to hold it up saying; "to make the language the best that we can get it."

Paul claimed that the bill's language was too broad and could "conflate someone who has an altercation, where they had minor bruises, with lynching." This is absolute bull****. Nobody with a brain will charge anyone with a federal offense claiming it's against lynching laws if the victim gets a cut, or other minor injuries. There are already laws against that, against harassing and targeting blacks. An anti-lynching law is precisely that, cops will be federally charged with this crime if they KILL someone that hasn't committed a crime!!

Rand Paul is an idiot who couldn't even beat a Reality T.V. Star in the GOP primaries.

It sounds a lot like you agree with Paul that minor injuries should not be part of this lynching bill but your partisan side just will not let you admit it.

Your conclusion from my statement is absolutely absurd. NO, I do not agree with Rand Paul, is that clear now?

Only Paul would even try to whitesplain lynching. It was pleasing to see his disembowelling following on so swiftly! She would make an excellent VP!

I agree with Paul. The sections cited to be amended with a prison term of 10 years don’t even require a physical altercation to take place.
