Minneapolis officer'''s murder charge to be upgraded in George Floyd death, 3 others charged: report | Fox News

Chauvin will now be charged with second-degree murder, The Star Tribune first reported. The other three officers involved -- Thomas Lane, J.A. Kueng and Tou Thao – will be charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is expected to hold a press conference Wednesday afternoon to announce further details.

I don’t know about the third guy, but Kueng was just standing there watching like it was on UTube or something.

Do you believe without the protests, the same outcome would take place?

And the additional autopsy.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

Protesting and rioting works. Thanks for the confirmation, Ludin.

They can charge him for anything they want, but the higher they charge the harder it is convict. We are well past Mr. Floyd being the cause. We are now into mayhem because no one is stopping them, and looting because its “free ****”.

If nobody had videoed this, the cops would still be drawing a pay check.

Yes. We're a nation of laws. The key is making sure that those laws are applied equally and uniformly.

I never doubted that if we all waited, as frustrating as it may be, that the right decisions would be made.

In this case, it's important to gather ALL the evidence to ensure the case doesn't get dismissed on a technicality or procedure.

This is one where we need to get it right.

YEs- The city and state are all Democrats.
The AG is Keith Ellison. Hardly white cop friendly.

They were careful to get some more facts before charging the cops. Due to the nature of their jobs this is completely reasonable.

It will never be enough for the SJW(s) and the Trump blamers, aka the perpetually aggrieved.

I don't think worldwide protests should be a necessary part of a good system that "works", but then you are you....

Funny how those "decisions" come weeks after the event but days after video surfaced.

Nobody believes the system works.

Know why?

Because it doesn't.

Threats, intimidation and violence always work, thats why criminals use them. The nation was united in its outrage over what this cop did so the rioting, the looting , the fires, the beatings and the anarchy were completely pointless and counterproductive.

And that's a little bit of a concern. If they charge 2nd degree and a jury comes back with less then will we go through this whole mess again?

George Floyd just died a week ago, on Monday May 25th. The video came out almost immediately, and the first protests began on Tuesday the 26th.

It's too soon for you to rewrite the history of the event and claim foul.

It did not suprise me that charges were brought against the other officers.

In this day and age of social media, news demanding detailed information, etc., makes me think it will be hard for the LEO's to get a fair trail. I bet the majority of people have already made up their minds on the guilt or innocent of the charged LEO's.

imo, they would be best to try and plea out with the AG.

I have nothing against protests.

I will not stand for looting, burning and killing people.
that is not protesting.

you can already tell that by the responses that they are giving in this thread.

What's to question about their (lack of) participation? Floyd was no longer resisting for quite some time while they stood there and did nothing, after hearing him beg to breath, after seeing he was no longer a threat, they did nothing to stop him. They did nothing to protect the suspect in their charge. It doesnt seem these charges are relevant to this in MN but it seems more like they should be charged with depraved indifference or negligent homicide.

But if aiding and abetting carries a stronger penalty, good.

Yep. It's been predictibly no different than any other thread in this forum.

I would strongly disagree.

If I and a group of my friends did that to a police officer, and it was all captured on video, there is no way on god's green earth I would have been allowed to walk away, and my entire immediate punishment would be to get fired from my job.

I personally believe the LEO's are guilty based on the reports and vids I have seen.
