'How did we get here?': Trump has normalised mayhem and the US is paying the price | US news | The Guardian

More than 100,000 have died in a pandemic and troops are on the streets. The rate of fresh affronts has outpaced the ability to digest them

The sheer tumult of the Trump era, the unceasing torrent of events that were unthinkable even hours before, has left a nation constantly off balance, unable to find its bearing and grasp how far it has traveled.

The developments of the past 24 hours were a reminder of how slippery the downward slope has been.

A vote for Trump = a vote for continuing chaos & disruption.

Who is committing mayhem? Trump?

I don't think so.

Yet all evidence to the contrary.

Democrat Mayors and Governors are REFUSING to allow the national guard to help stop these riots

Democrat Mayors and Governors are REFUSING to hold these criminals in jail

Biden campaign officials are providing money to bail out criminals who are robbing innocent civilians, burning their businesses, shooting cops, and blocking interstates.

Businesses owners are being beaten in the streets

Secret Service are being pelted with rocks and frozen water bottles in DC

Democrat government in these cities won't allow the cops to put this down

Cops are being murdered in the streets

Trump tells these Democrats if they won't stop this now, he will put troops on the ground to stop the mayhem. Democrats are rallying to stop him.

This is what voters are seeing. Best of luck in November.

Don't forget A/G Barr ordering the tear gassing of innocent protesters so that Trump could get his Bible photo op.

I don't think so.

Oh, he's doing far worse than "committing mayhem". He has maintained a sustained assault on the foundations of democracy, with his unAmerican Trumpist base flocking to his every beck and call.

That's a lie...and you know it.

Wrong.

Everything Trump has done since he became President has been in compliance with the rule of law and the Constitution.

If you think that is a "sustained assault on the foundations of democracy", then you obviously don't have a clue what democracy is.

I take no responsibility...

I take no responsibility...

He demands that the people who ARE responsible accept their responsibility...instead of trying to pass it off on him.

That's a lie...and you know it.

That's a fact and you know it!

Barr walks out gives the order to clear the streets, innocent non violent protesters are stacked, members of the press are tackled and punched, all the while trump and his auntorauge are waiting to walk between a line of shoulder to shoulder riot hear clad security.

Yeah that was planned at all...

And that is why he was impeached and facing multiple charges when he leaves office...

Man you make me laugh!!!:lamo

Wrong.

The order was already decided upon earlier that morning. Those "innocent non violent protesters" assaulted him and the people he was walking with by throwing bottles and other stuff at them. It was coming up on the city's curfew and the protesters were making no moves to leave the area.

And THAT'S why the police moved them out of the area.

And that happened long before Trump went to the church.

Furthermore, teargas wasn't used. Smoke and pepper spray was used.

Quit ****ing lying, dude.

Since he follows all laws and the Constitution, that nonsense Dem impeachment went nowhere. Furthermore, they KNEW it would go nowhere and they decided to do it anyway. They knew there would be a slew of useful idiots out there who believed their lies.

These are leftist riots so voting for leftists = a vote for continuing chaos and disruption.

Barr walks out gives the order to clear the streets, o

HE must read this forum. Knowing how hate filled and unhinged so many left wing posters here are, I can only imagine what that crowd was like!
Sound like a good idea to ensure safety of a US President.

Total bull****.

Defence Secretary Mark Esper is a Democrat?

By whom? "Bunker Baby?"

Well that makes it OK then.... All those Republicans who have said this was a horrible thing to do are wrong because it was a different type of dispersal force used?

You serious?

Wrong both gas and flashbangs were used.

I recognize the sound of a teargas canister from miles away. I've have been gassed hundreds of times both in the military and out.

It is as six thirty, half an hour before curfew. Trump wanted good light for the photo op.

The only thing time I have heard anything about anyone throwing anything has been from cultists, but I have seen absolutely zero proof, and Even if true it does not justify the attack on all the other constiutionally protected legal protesters.

On an aside, why are curfews okay it voluntarily stay at home policies aren't???

Trump's virus has killed 106,000 plus. How many casualties from the actual peaceful protests???

That sounds like a progressive threat. If we dont fall in line they are vowing to continue rioting.
Guess what.....
Go for it. Burn it all down till theres nothing left. Im still voting for Trump no matter how big of a tantrum the left throws. In fact it only reinforces my resolve.

By the DOJ.

It makes all those claiming teargas was used outright liars.

Right, so American troops using force to stop peaceful protest on American soil by American protestors is OK as long as people get the correct detail of what that force or gas was on those peaceful protestors?

And who is responsible at the DOJ?

Another thing - the curfew was approaching - you stated this in the previous post. Doesn't Trump have to obey his own curfew or does he get a free Pass like Royalty?

I'm just asking for clarity here.
