Just wondering what people are thinking when they are watching these people burning down their own neighborhoods and killing and hurting other people.

For me, i think these people are nothing more than savages... and this is what happens when you have democratic governors/mayors preventing the police from doing anything at all about people burning buildings, hurting people and stealing non stop, there was literally no intervention for way too long and it snowballed out of control.

Its a total shame that this mans name has been destroyed and his imagine will be remembered as a ploy to steal and hurt innocent people, many of whom are from their own neighborhoods.

Protests are okay.

I said the "current protests and the way they turned out", i know protesting is ok, but im wondering how many deranged people who are totally lost and confused would support this madness that is going on right now, i just fail to comprehend beyond the simple troll that thinks this is in any way is helping anything and just costing people money, their business and their lives

It merely provides for more employment.

We need to differentiate between the protests and the looting. The protesters are doing a great job, and I support them 110%. It really feels different this time around, more sixties-ish. I believe they will make a mark finally, especially if Biden wins in November. Sam Cooke says it best, below.

As to the looters? Well, I grew-up in a place that had a shoot-to-kill order during the King riots. While I may not necessarily support going back to that, I do very much carry the same dim view of looting as my relatives & neighbors before me.

Its so baffling to me that people are literally watching idiots burning down their own community stores and black business... not to mention the violence and for what? Because a police officer made a mistake? not to mention how quickly the officer was detained and charged with murder..... it always drives me crazy how we pick out these 0.1% cases and treat them as if they are a common occurrence even though we clearly know that out of tens of thousands arrests that more white people are killed by police than black people....yet we sit here and pretend that there is some sort of "division" that these cops drive all night just to hunt black people....the only division i see is the constant race baiting going on while never rioting when a white person gets killed by the cops or any other race, that in itself is racist and discriminatory.

I do not support this poll. The original post makes the entire protesting process look like it is what happens after the sun goes down and the agitators come out to loot and pillage. That is not what the majority of the protests are about. That is an ugly, small portion of what is happening and conflicts with why people are protesting. The protests themselves do not destroy the image of George Floyd. The extremist groups and anarchist groups need to be stopped, but the protests are absolutely necessary. As President Bush said today:
Many doubt the justice of our country, and with good reason. Black people see the repeated violation of their rights without an urgent and adequate response from American institutions.

[But] we know that lasting justice will only come by peaceful means. Looting is not liberation, and destruction is not progress.

This tragedy — in a long series of similar tragedies — raises a long overdue question: How do we end systemic racism in our society? The only way to see ourselves in a true light is to listen to the voices of so many who are hurting and grieving. Those who set out to silence those voices do not understand the meaning of America — or how it becomes a better place.

America’s greatest challenge has long been to unite people of very different backgrounds into a single nation of justice and opportunity.

We can only see the reality of America’s need by seeing it through the eyes of the threatened, oppressed, and disenfranchised.

The above is not chronologically as was given in his address. I made a few changes to highlight the main points. The full address can be seen here (scroll down past the summary in the article):George W. Bush calls for unity during George Floyd protests

Are you for real right now? Protesters doing a great job? Thats a pretty outrageous thing to say...Where do you think these people started at before they began looting and killing and burning **** to the ground? They didnt teleport thats for sure.... On top of that its the protesters job to keep their group members in check....if you see 5 people doing something that you're group should not be associated with you can easily stop 5 ppl from misbehaving if you are in a group of hundreds or thousands...not to mention if you dont want police presents to interfere you are responsible to handle those people... Plenty of videos of random people telling others to stop, very few of actual ****(early) days protesters, the ones who started like 24 hours after incident, those people are nowhere to be found.

Also i dont know why you think Joe Biden would change anything...he can hardly put 2 sentences together... im no left winger nor right winger, although on some agents i tend to lean right(im not hiding my views) but there is no denying that under Trump the country has had one of the best economies ever....I know the guy says some stuff that might not always resonate with the masses, but the guy is a strong leader.....if you disagree with such simple logic than clearly you(just speaking in general here not specific to your post) you are just extremely biased.. The amount of crimes and shady **** that Trump had to endure that was like 100% or 90% made up and false investigations are insane, ive never paid much attention to crap like this, but if anything i can get out of these 4 years is how corrupt and shady the Obama presidency/DNC was, the evidence that is coming out to this very day is stunning....

If Biden wins it will be because of pandering to the minorities, but i dont believe 1 bit that he will be as tough or smart when it comes to policies that benefit our country as Trump was.

Good lord, attitudes like this actually exist.

The worst part is that you have liberal mayors who are telling the police to stand down and just watch the city burn. I don't think DeBlasio lasts another week in NY.

Once the protests turned violent they should have been shut down. These protesters are nothing more than human shields for rioters. Antifa and other bad actors are going to the front lines and acting like they care about black lives. Meanwhile they are sending the poor black people to go loot and riot and burn down the city. Antifa is letting the blacks take the fall for all of the riots. I'm shocked black leaders haven't stepped in and condemned Antifa.

What is it that you dont support about this poll? its a pretty simple poll.....You are nit picking which protests are peaceful and im looking at the entire picture....You said something which i found outrageous and just straight negligent which is "That is an ugly, small portion of what is happening" this part right here...I cant tell if you mean in general or to whats currently going on, because if its the latter, this is no small portion.....Its country wide rioting, looting, and violence(killings).......This is third world country/terrorist nations type of stuff...also something that is always left out, the protesters who organize these events are also liable and should be held responsible for not keeping their members in check or doing anything to prevent this, especially if they dont want police to intervene which a lot of protesters dont.

Again i could be misunderstanding your post but my god, its pure insanity to think that anyone could support this current agenda, again, dont pick out a small portion that are being peaceful, im talking about the entire picture, from start to what is currently going on... and yes it has a gigantic impact of Floyd's imagine... its because people are using it as an excuse to loot, burn and hurt other people in his name, and if they can use it to form protests then his imagine is also affected when those protests go wrong, cant have it one way.

Protests, yes.

Violence and looting, no.

Yeah, I'm for real. But I'm not going to get in a personal pissing contest in an opinion poll thread.

I see the protesters doing a great job. After decades, I think they may finally effect a change. And if so, it will come through Biden, not Trump. And if not nationally, then the change will come locally. Perhaps even despite Trump if he were to be re-elected.

The looting has died-down in my city and Minneapolis. I'll have to catch the news later tonight to see what's happening nationally. But regardless, I'm not going to conflate the looters with the protesters. Today, I saw very peaceful large protests.

Good lord, attitudes like this actually exist.

Most police officers are good people. The protesters are being brainwashed into thinking there is a problem with police brutality. The truth is things have been getting better every year in regards to this. It's certainly not worth it to have your city burned down. These "protesters" will regret this disaster they have created.

Most of the trouble makers are paid to do that.

What do you want me to call it? Mistake, murder, it doesnt matter if he is in jail and getting proper justice(im assuming here that he would be).....right? Would it make you feel better if it was murder? Would it change anything? Again, it has nothing to do with race... If you want to make an argument to change police training to better accommodate the public then ok, that makes sense, but we cant just sit here and start picking and choosing when we getting out raged and when we arent....Also we gotta stop pretending that this is some kind of norm when it is not... its literally %1 that we are trying to portray as something that happens 99% which is clearly wrong and as we can see dangerous....Tens of thousands of arrests and no issues, but god forbid there is 1 guy that doesn something stupid, or bad or makes a mistake, or murders someone because of poor training, racism(all racism) or just an accident, and all the sudden we riot? That is such dumb logic.....
