So the right wing spin is in. Fox News started talking about black on black crime statistics, and now every single right winger is parroting the narrative. "X% of blacks are killed by other blacks! How come this doesn't spark outrage?"

So, here's some education for conservatives:

The part that sparks outrage is "the killer gets away with it."

It took MPD 20 minutes to confront and murder Floyd for the alleged crime of writing a bad check. The evidence they started with was a phone call. It took MPD four days to arrest a cop for murder. The evidence they started with was the murder captured on video. Yes, I know, the state AG is saying this is the fastest they've ever charged a police officer. That's part of the problem. Cops are given far more leeway than the rest of us. If there was video of me kneeling on a guy's neck until he died, I'd be in jail as soon as the cops could find me.

Trayvon Martin's case didn't become a national outrage because the victim was black. It became a national outrage because the cops didn't arrest the killer. The arrest happened after a national outrage.

The Arbery shooting happened months prior to the arrest. The arrests only happened after a national outrage.

Want to head off public outrage? Promptly arrest killers. Start holding the police to the same standard as the rest of us. They'll get their day in court. If the killing turns out to be justified, then they'll be acquitted.

I needed no education, but I otherwise very much agree.

There is a reason why the saying "getting away with murder" has entered our lexicon as the ur-example of outrageous conduct.

Forget it, FoxNews gave their marching orders to "conservatives." Trivial things like facts and "the killer gets away with it" do not matter to an ideology that is looking to handle minorities in a manner that Trump would agree with.

Tune into Fox tonight. I'm sure they will start talking about Hillary's emails again.

But to the point of your post, you are 100% spot on.

Jeanine has search parties looking for the fabled Hillary Rodham Clinton. They thought they caught her, but it was really just a cut out of Kellyanne Conway.

Stop picking in Kellyanne. That PTSD she suffered as a result of the Bowling Green Massacre was real, baby. Real!

I did lose two of my three heads in that massacre. Fortunately, four more replaced them.

You know how many black on black murders don't get solved because of the snitch stigma?

There have been 5 days of riots. Imagine if they put that energy into catching black murderers who nurder blacks.

You... want people protesting police brutality to start trying to investigate crimes? Vigilante justice? What the **** are you talking about?

If you want to play the whatabout game, just show me an equivalent example: a video of a known, positively-identified black person murdering another black person and not getting promptly arrested.

Plenty of black-on-black (and black-on-white) murders go unpunished.

As for "promptly arrest killers" and "they'll get their day in court", how would you like it if you had to spend months in prison waiting on a trial anytime someone didn't like how you did your job?

Of course it would never occur to you to ask that question, because you think you're better than the people who keep you safe.

it wasn't writing a bad check, the cashier called because she thought he had a counterfeit 20 dollar bill....we still do not know if it was actually counterfeit or not. I am suspecting it wasn't.

How do you think everyone else accused of a serious crime likes it?

:lamo

Gods above, I love when they prove my argument right while simultaneously thinking they've just destroyed it.

I also like how you equated being on video murdering someone with the idea of "anytime someone didn't like how you did your job." That's how you describe taking a human life. Poor customer satisfaction. Like a ****ing Yelp review is gonna be the basis for arrest.

I'll make you a deal. I fly planes for a living. If I'm ever caught on video flying a plane and simultaneously murdering one of my passengers, feel free to have me arrested.

Thanks for the update. I've seen both reported.

You specifically said you had a problem with the general rate at which police officers are charged with crimes, not just with this specific case.

So if you were flying a plane, it crashed, and someone died, it would be perfectly okay for you to be automatically thrown in jail until such time as a jury could sort out your culpability? Really?

Fox News understands the viewership wants to see them kicking the black man good and hard when he is already down. Anyone can see how excited it has made them.

Not only that, but she has to suffer the indignity of having a re hydrated version of herself as press secretary

Is there video of me intentionally crashing the plane? Then yes.

Did Floyd get this leeway for investigation you're demanding we give to that cop?

Jeanine has looked in the bottom of every wine bottle in a 10 mile radius looking for her.

I have not closely followed the details of Floyd's death because I am not particularly concerned with it (just as you are not particularly concerned with any of the dozens of murders committed today by criminals).

But as a general matter, is there any reason why criminals should be given the same leeway as police (or pilots)?

That cop is a criminal.

Should I take your lack of response to the question to mean that you can't identify any reason for your POV?

No, you shouldn't. You're trying to draw a distinction between criminals and cops but this discussion is specifically about cops who commit crimes. This makes the real question: Do you think criminals should get extra special treatment when they happen to be cops?

It's about police who are accused of crimes. Specifically those accused of crimes committed while performing their duties.

Police officers should obviously be given "special treatment" (meaning not being immediately arrested) when accused of improperly doing their job. Just as pilots, doctors, accountants, and all other professionals are. Again, can you identify any cogent reason why police should be treated like common criminals?

This is how civil rights works for everyone. Floyd was accused of a crime. He wasn't a criminal.

Floyd wasn't a criminal. He hadn't even been charged with the crime.

You keep trying this bull**** propaganda phrasing. Do you think other people are dumb enough to take this phrasing of "accused of improperly doing their job?" There was video. Of murder.

Also, I don't understand what you mean by "special treatment" when you say everyone else gets the same treatment. That's not special treatment, that's normal treatment.

You're right. Cops should be treated like the rest of us.
