So, we're partially genetically programmed towards race favoritism and partially socially engineered to be prejudiced?
I can get on board with that but it's equally true then for all races.
We're partially programmed to make generalizations.
Generalizations about everything.
Social forces are what encourages us to choose skin tones as a grouping criterion for these generalizations.
The criterion choice is probably somewhat arbitrary.
Humans have used all sorts of other things as pretenses for hating one another.
Skin tone is just what we happened to land on this time.
We could split people up by smell, by height, by thumb size, or w/e else instead of skin color.
We'd still be stupid about it.
Also, though, we are capable of rationality.
We have volition.
We can choose to be in the moment and evaluate situations and people for what they are rather than what we think they are.
But, humans have to choose that and it's a bother.
