I watched a couple of men outside a store in Minnesota with AR15's seeming to defend their store from rioters and looters. What has surprised me is that some store owner hasn't shot one of those rioters and looters. I wonder if you are allowed to use such force to safeguard your property in any of the states where the rioting and looting is happening, anyone know?

People have insurance. This isn't 1870.

With many small businesses bearly staying open amid the economic suppression, letting looters smash the place up and then cashing in the insurance policy might be the only way they pay their mortgage.

Let's say you're a business owner. You have two choices. File an insurance claim or go the store and shoot people. Which do you expect a normal person chooses? Now, let's keep in mind we're talking business owners. Relatively stable people, not inbred necks in pickups hunting black people.

So what do ya think? File that claim or get to killin'?

"Gee, I'm surprised business owners choose to file claims instead of killing people."

Yeah, okay.

Let's say you're a small business owner. Your life savings are wrapped up in store of yours. You have been shut down for three months due to the CV-19 pandemic. You have bills pilling up. You can't pay them all. Do you protect your store or do you just let your life work be destroyed.

Gee, I wonder why some store owners decide to protect their property.

It is interesting that some side with the rioters and the store owner should just file a claim. We all know insurance companies have an endless supply of money to pay out and they never raise rates.

looters are not looking to fight. They are looking for free stuff. If they do fight, it will be a sneak attack against an unarmed civilian.

It shows how little you value human life. Death penalty for petty theft? Do you really think you're better than a looter with your enthusiasm for murder?

It's a special kind of psycho that chooses to shoot people instead of filing a claim.

It's a special kind of psycho that chooses to loot and destroy private property instead of working for change.

Is that how you would protect your lifes work? File a claim? You think these insurance companies will make everyone whole again? It will take months to get a check and it will be a percentage of what your actual losses are. Then you have to rebuild while out of work and no money coming in?

Not to mention the ones who do not have insurance. You can't solve this problem by filing a claim. You solve this problem by protecting whats yours.

Thats the only two options huh. File a claim or fill someone? Pretty narrow minded don't you think. I doubt anyone expects to shoot a looter as a show of force is usually enough to send them to another store to rob.

You're suggesting a third option: Go to the store and hang out.

Most of these businesses were gonna die soon anyway, so I don't see why we count them.

Sorry, but I am not suggesting that a store owner shoot someone, but that one has not done so. I am against killing for any reason.

So you kill some black people.

Then they come an pelt you and your store with molotovs and shoot you with AR15s. What have you won?

I think someone with an AR15 outside the store might just keep looters at bay.

Maybe an internet tough guy could believe so. You don't have any experience in security, do you.

Lone armed dude in store during riot? Definitely a horrendous plan. Don't ever do that. No matter how much the alt-right tells you that you need to start a race war, don't try. Just don't.

Do you normally just write the story as you see it and this story line only has one possibility?

Sorry, not seeing rioters running around with AR 15s and nobody said anything about killing black people but feel free to write these one way narratives all you want.

Yup, thats what it meant. Go to the store, hang out, watch some TV, and play some cards.

It's a special kind of internet tough guy that thinks he can protect a store in a riot. Generally, it's someone that wants a race war and wants to be part of it.

The gun guys do not have enough rounds and even if justified they will not make it out of their alive. Common sense tells someone you cant them all before they kill you.

Or maybe its the black fireman who put his life savings into a bar just a few months ago after retiring from the department and is losing EVERYTHING he has ever worked for. He has no insurance because he hasn't opened yet and nothing to fall back on.

While you stand beside the rioters right to riot, I prefer to stand beside the black family and help protect their life's work from criminals and animals trying to enrich themselves at an innocent mans expense.

No maybe.

The only people believing they should personally defend a business are racists wanting to be part of a race war. Not rational people.
