Will racist white people see things differently when black people loot and burn cities in anger?

It seems like they're ruining their own message, which is a fair and legitimate one. The racist people are only going to have their opinions about black people reinforced by this behavior though. Why not take all of that energy and focus it at making changes in politics? How many of those rioters even vote? How many know who their congressman is? They're pissed off and using all kinds of energy to spin their wheels, but they're not going to go anywhere like that.

The racists had their opinions reinforced when blacks tried peacefully protesting. Trump called them "Sons of Bitches." And 1/3 of America agreed with him and attacked the peaceful protesters. This forum was full of their venomous hate for weeks.

So peaceful protesting is unacceptable. And violent protesting is unacceptable. Sounds like many Conservative Whites want to go back in time when blacks had to stfu and quietly accept being killed, raped, lynched, or whatever else a white man feels like doing to them. You know, the "Again" in MAGA.

I think you're missing the point. One reason people are protesting is that they feel the entire system is rigged against them.

Trump loses the 2016 election by 3 million votes, yet he is still President. Democrats won over 50% of the vote in Wisconsin in the 2018 midterms, yet Republicans still control 60% of the seats in the Wisconsin legislature, because of the ridiculous gerrymandering in that state.

Even our election system is rigged and unfair.

Black people aren't looting and burning their cities in anger. People...black and white...are looting and burning because they can.

The irony is that white people feel they are victims of racism more than blacks:

Whites Believe They Are Victims of Racism More Often Than Blacks

No. YOU see everything through a political lens and are simply projecting your own beliefs onto others. No one is rioting because Hillary lost the election. This has nothing to do with Trump. Nothing. You really need to get him out of your head. Its not good for you.

"Bend over and take it because we won't listen no matter what you do".....nevermind that the looting/burning is from criminal elements - usually out of state - slipping in and using protests as cover.

I've seen this rioting and looting many times in my lifetime, way too many. There were many riots in the 1960's and 1970's that I remember very well. I witnessed riots in Los Angeles during the Rodney King riots in 1992. (does anyone remember Florence and Normandie?) Then there was the Ferguson, Missouri riots in 2014 protesting the shooting of Michael Brown. That same year there were riots in St. Louis, Missouri - at the killing of Vonderrit Myers Jr. The same thing happened in New York in 2014 – New York, New York, and Berkeley, California – After prosecutors and a grand jury refused to indict a police officer in the death of Eric Garner, protests erupted in New York City and other cities.

As you can see, there's a trend here and it's a trend that should have been addressed decades ago. Black men being shot unnecessarily by over-aggressive police brings riots, looting and mayhem. Why are you or anyone else wondering why they're so pissed off?

If you're interested in the number of times there have been riots and civil unrest here in the US, you may be surprised.

Hmmm...

IMO, the only reason people think the "system is rigged against them" is because they did not pay attention in school. Either that, or their progressive educators were more concerned about instilling ideology instead of history/civics.

This is a FEDERAL system, uniting sovereign STATES into a joined Federal Government.

California, New York, and a few other States don't get to decide what the rest of the nation gets and doesn't get, just because they have larger populations.

They get a proportion of Electors, and the President has always been and currently still is elected via the most Electoral votes in the Electoral college.

It was done that way INTENTIONALLY to prevent a few States from ruling the rest of the Nation.

Riots are not rational.

I know exactly why they are pissed off. I think they should use that energy more constructively rather than destroy their own community.

If more people had voted Trump would have lost. The electoral system is the way we have always done things. It was a fair election according to the rules that we use. This is the system we have. Getting angry and tearing **** up isn't going to help. Working to change things will help.

I really don't care what Trump thinks.

OK, let me rewrite it .

The racists had their opinions reinforced when blacks tried peacefully protesting. Trump's base agreed with Trump calling them "Sons of Bitches." and attacked the peaceful protesters also calling them "sons of bitches", and often much worse. This forum was full of their venomous hate for weeks.

No, but we do want to go back to a time when blacks didn't riot. It's that simple. There were 5 riots in the US in the entire decade of the 1950s, and 32 riots during the decade that Obama was President, most of them started by blacks and left wingers. No one would argue that the 2010s were a more racist era, or that blacks had it worse in the 2010s than the 1950s. It seems to many of us that the blacks who do riot are just looking for any excuse to riot.

That's an impressively inaccurate take on what I said.

They tried that. They were called "Sons of Bitches" and derided and attacked by 1/3 of the nation, the President himself setting the hateful tone for the rest of the country.

Just for clarification do you support the violent protesting?

Those elements consist of Antifa, lets not pretend like we don't know who they are. They're the sames ones who tried to burn down the University of Berkeley, for letting Ben Shapiro and Ann Coulter speak. The anti-fascists of today are thugs who've now helped burn down black neighborhoods, while enjoying a certain level of complicity and support from people who call themselves 'slightly liberal'.

They tried that.

Maybe they should protest with their votes instead. Maybe they should get involved in local government. Maybe they should work for real change rather than just being angry.

Racists see behavior that reinforces their beliefs anyway because they want to have those beliefs reinforced. It's called selection bias.
