I thought about this for the past week, and have come to the conclusion that Amy Klobuchar is the best pick for the job. Yes, I get it. She's not black, which is unacceptable by the woke police. But keep in mind this: Charlamagne tha God, Joe Rogan, and progressive media do not represent the views of the American people, regardless of political party. Keep in mind these are the same people who bashed Biden from the beginning and constantly doubted his chances of winning the nomination. The facts on the ground show that Biden crushed the competition and came out of the February primary contests leading in the popular vote and in a close second place to Bernie Sanders in the delegate count.

Let me point out some facts for people to digest:

1. Biden ran on a left-of-center platform and won over the demographic that actually votes in elections -- the over 45 club and the moderate-to-slight left crowd.
2. Despite raising much more money than Biden, Sanders only won the popular vote in 8 states, won 9 presidential contests, and drop out in early April. Warren also ran as a progressive candidate, and won ZERO presidential contests and came in third place within her own state.
3. The Democrat Party's biggest struggles was winning over the mid-west. That's their weakness area.

The mere concept he needs to appeal to progressives/socialist in order to win is bogus. Their movement is primarily with people under the age of 45 and they are the least likely to vote. What Biden really needs to do is win over the blue collar workers who voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012, and then flipped to Trump in 2016. These are going to get you at most 64 electoral college votes. Picking Klobuchar means, you're getting somebody from the mid-west, highly experienced (13.5 years in the Senate), and holds Biden's left-of-center political views.

I wish more Americans could see how dangerous Marxist socialism is to any free society. For whatever reason modern democrats have steered far left into oppressive socialism over free market American capitalism.

Your analysis is valid in my view, but as a white moderate independent, I want Biden to pick a black woman VP. Blacks brought him to the dance. Time to return the favor. I'm thinking many whites feel the same as I do.

The best vice president pick will win him one of the swing states like Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Vice presidents don't do much otherwise.

she's fine. probably should pick some shoe in from Ohio or Pennsylvania or whatever, but i did listen to her entire presidential entrance speech, and it was good.

I certainly do. He wouldn't be where he is without Clyburn's endorsement. It's the least he can do. Not like there isn't a plethora of good women of color out there, anyway.

Klobuchar is the best VP pick if the Democrats want to be absolutely sure to lose the 2020 Presidential election.

It would be the wisest choice, but that is not what will happen. Identity politics will prevail, will push Independent voters away.

I would point out that this is merely a myth. History shows they don't really make a difference.

Exactly. Seeing an intelligent woman like Val Demings or Kamala Harris destroy Trump and Pence is just a bonus.

If you made me bet I'd say it's going to be Harris.

I actually agree. I have a sneaky feeling he will be bullied into picking Kamala Harris or Val Demings. Not that these are bad picks, but I think he should be picking the most qualified person for the job. Klobuchar worked in Mondale's Vice Presidential office in the late 70s and has been in the Senate since 2007.

Could you see either of them onstage with Trump? Could you see how they would destroy him if he tried that "creeper" stuff like he did with HRC during the 2016 debates?

OP misses one thing: If Biden picks a white women, the Trumpists can scream "racism" thinking that it will further their narrative that all potential instances of racism have nothing to do with racism, while actually defeating themselves with an accidental self-parody. Because - and this is a shocker - "the left" doesn't actually think what Fox tells Trumpsits it does.

I don't mind quality picks but do mind gender and/or race picks. It paints people of color into a corner of submission. I hate that. I am personally offended by it, and won't vote for color or race. Sadly, it seems that too many voters are too easily duped by this division by race, gender, religion.

I think you very well may be in the money. Not my preference, but at this point I'd vote for a.... well.... we've covered that ground

I'm leaning toward Demings myself. Previously Harris and Klobuchar. Val Demings' performance at the impeachment hearings tells me she knows what to say and how to say it. Contrary to some ideas on VP picks, I believe it is the nominee's performance during the campaign that people see. Regardless of who the pick becomes, a successful campaign strategy and performance will be what people notice, not the color of the woman's skin. Or that she's a woman.

Why so, the vp does little to ever help the candidate but can harm the candidate greatly, amy is one of many safe picks who will not bring a mountain of baggage with her, biden needs to focus on being biden and not pulling a john mcain using a female vp to try and boost an utterly poor campaign, which we saw how badly it worked for him in 2008.

Harris got destroyed by gabbard, gabbard is a polite form of trump, if gabbard could destroy harris instantly harris will do nothing but drag down biden unless the media went full retard trying to protect her every second of the day and found a way to block all political ads and debates. Basically harris is a weak vp candidate who could only thrive with zero competition, she was already shown the door once pretending it did not happen will not prevent it from happening again especially with someone as ruthless as trump.

Harris would be a disaster for Trump because she's stupid. Literally stupid.

This.

I mean we've already been over this. Progressives despise her, she's as boring as dry sand, is an utterly milquetoast status quo corporate Democrat (there is nothing substantively 'left' about Klob, at least on any economic axis), is painfully conventional, and is barely more charismatic than Hillary (i.e. one of the lowest bars imaginable). She is the de facto Tim Kaine pick of this electoral cycle, straight up.

The idea that you don't have to embrace or reconcile with the desires of 40% or so of the Democratic party, no matter how you want to spin who won what electoral contests, is frankly absurd, and Klob as VP is certainly a full-on needle in the eye to them. Biden could win regardless thanks to COVID-19, but it would be in _spite_ of her.

Also the blue collar people you mentioned flipped Trump because he took up stances of economic populism and free trade skepticism in line with Sanders: he promised to bring their jobs back; he was lying all the way of course, but Biden certainly doesn't seem poised to step in and make good on what Donnie failed to.

I don't see it as bullying. All three women have the experience, qualifications, character and temperament to be president. As we've touched on, the VP pick isn't typically influential in the election. Representation is important to me, and I relish a multiracial ticket taking down a racist-backed regime.

Loyalty is a thing. It should be rewarded.

You don't like Harris. Noted.

I like Demings.

She got defeated in a single debate by doing nothing more than noting her record, anyone who has a record so corrupt that just pointing it out destroys their entire presidential campaign should not be a vp pick unless the powers that be are so ignorant that they believe her being black would over ride her entire piss poor record already shown to the world.
