What do you call a crisis that kills a hundred thousand Americans? It all depends on who does the dying.

At first, it seemed like it was mostly white people infected and/or killed by the coronavirus.

As the scale of the coronavirus pandemic dawned on Americans during the month of March, most of the media attention was given to white people like Tom Hanks, while the danger of coronavirus to black people went largely underreported by American media. It was around this time when both the media and the White House decreed it a national emergency.

The early cases that made the news and caught everybody’s attention were mainly wealthy white people who’d traveled to the West Coast from Asia and the East Coast from Europe.

Trump’s official national emergency declaration came on March 11, and most of the country shut down or at least went partway toward that outcome. The economy crashed and millions of Americans were laid off, but saving lives was, after all, the number one consideration.

Trump put medical doctors on TV daily, the media was freaking out about refrigerated trucks carrying bodies away from New York hospitals, and doctors and nurses were our new national heroes.

And then came April 7, 2020.

Here's to that racist virus looking for trailerhoods in the south. Biden will win for sure.

Well, while it is a possiblitiy, I don't consider alternet a good source for something known as 'facts'. One factor that is not being taken into account is population density, although much of the population is quite dense,

I know many are rooting for this. I believe they call it, hurting the people who need to be hurt; e.g., Trump, and Trump supporters.

I'm sure they'll be along momentarily to cheer the virus on.

AlterNet - Media Bias/Fact Check

"Overall, we rate AlterNet far Left Biased based on story selection and wording that always favors the left. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to a few failed fact checks as well as the promotion of pseudoscience."

I consider Thom Hartmann a very good source of facts.

Why would you assume that white people were the ones dying?

His inaccuracies seem to be one of the reasons for alternet's poor reputation

The OP appears to be more Hatred and Death Wishes toward a Demographic he is obsessed with seeing destroyed than any form of scientific and/or informed thought.

Covid19 is not following a natural or expected viral spread pattern in any way, to be sure, but it is doubtful that it cares or can even SENSE race. If right now it appears to be hitting Blacks more than Whites, that is because of Human Actions and conditions, not viral actions.

Covid19 seems to thrive in high population density... ONLY. So it is unlikely to completely change pattern and focus on low population density communities.

About the only way the claims made in the OP could come true, is if a group of wacko Americans began deliberately infecting poor, rural, and white communities....

Now that threat IS something to seriously consider, and put a swift end to.

If we're going to be honest, let's be honest at why Trumpers really didn't give a damn that New York lost over 23,000 people. Oh, I've even read a comment here that described the deaths and numbers of infections in New York as 'those liberals' and these same members here that have continually trashed Andrew Cuomo for 'doing a horrible job' when in fact he's been doing an absolutely amazing job and thank God for him.

The real reason Trumpers don't care anything about who dies in New York or California is because they see these states as 'blue states', people that didn't vote for Trump, people that 'think they're better' because they went to college or have high paying jobs. It's disgusting hatred for people that they don't know and have no clue about their lives. The thing that stands out the most is that these two cities on either coast are large cities with a vast population of minorities, people of all different ethnicity and races. Let me be quite clear about this. Trump supporters don't give two ****s about anyone living in the big cities on either coast because they feel they're being looked down on by them, that's the heart of it. Their insecurities and persecution complexes make them despise people they incorrectly perceive to be better than them.

Let me just show you a small random number of recent deaths in New York. Look at them and be honest. Do these people look like Southern White Baptists or Evangelicals? Do they look like rich elites that live in fancy penthouse apartments like they see on TV? Do they look like Wall St. traders or fancy Wilhelmina models? Do they all appear to be the arrogant, self-righteous, snobs that people in the South think all New Yorkers are?

They're bus drivers, dog walkers, waitresses, nurses, doctors, street vendors, housewives, policemen, EMTs, hair dressers, manicurists, mothers, grandfathers. They are us, as in collectively, us -- they are like all of us, they are Americans, working hard to pay the rent, trying to raise kids, trying very hard to survive the harsh existence that a big city that challenges them with every single day. They're people of all colors from all parts of the world. New York truly is the 'world's melting pot' and people don't like that about New Yorkers, they prefer to live in their own little isolated, secure bubbles and made the choice to blame these people for all that's wrong with this country when in fact it's people exactly like these people in NY that built this country.

Up until this year we called it heart disease, cancer, lower respiratory disease, or any one of these below. Did we shut down society to stop the deaths? Some of them in much greater numbers than Covid 19.
The top 10 leading causes of death in the United States

Many poor, rural whites will be victimized in the next surge.

I consider Thom Hartmann a very good source of facts.

He's the moron who ran with the idiocy of Carl Bogus Jr, who tried to claim that the second amendment was pushed by slave states. Hartmann is a loon

Maybe I'm confused.
Wasn't it Trump who sent NY thousands of ventilators, docked our medical ship in NY?
Wasn't it the Christen organization (Samaritan’s Purse medical team) who built (almost overnight) temporary medical facilities in central park?
Didn't Trump just allocate another 298 million to New Yorks MTA?
Not to mention the billions already allocated to NY to help?

And due to the massive influx of medical teams and equipment, not one person in NY died for lack of a ventilator or hospital bed?

And on top of all that, Wasn't it Cuomo who the city is blaming for sending thousands of elderly infected to nursing homes that were not equipped to deal with the pandemic killing thousands more people?

Sorry, you little rant doesn't really stand up to the actual accounts of whats going on.

It isn't even worth addressing the rest of the BS you wrote.

Then you should be able to name anything on the list that has a 98.58% survival rate.

Additionally, how do you explain how these Democrat states have an average of 870 deaths per 10K infected vs 380 deaths per 10K infected in Republican states.

Do they have dumber doctors and nurses or is someone fudging numbers for federal money? Nobody believes NY has 28K virus deaths.

Prove it. Show their quotes where they want Covid to hit the poor, rural, and white.

LOL...what a fraudulent post. Democrats, leadership, and their media lapdogs are rooting for as many deaths as it takes to beat Trump in November.

These weasels are willing to destroy the economy, burn down Main Street, keep 35 million out of work, and disrupt any way they can. It's what was promised the morning after The Coronation that wasn't. Go ahead and play dumb; you're not fooling anybody.

Thanks for proving you just pulled it out of your ass. Common tactic of yours.

Nobody wants people to get sick or die but because Trump didn't respond in time in late February and March and refuses to test on a widespread basis because he doesn't want then news to report on how many positive cases that there actually are there is going to be another spike in less than 6 weeks and this time it won't be in the urban areas but in rural areas. I live in one of those white rural areas and I don't want there to be a large number of cases but the federal government is refusing to effectively act so the news is reporting on the fact that this is where the next spike of deaths and infections will be. Nobody is death wishing people, despite what your apparent conservative persecution complex is telling to you to believe.

Do you think that the media should only report good news and facts that you like to hear or that confirm your currently held beliefs?
