If that's true then should it be any surprise that those on the side with the most guns would ignore reason and diplomacy?

White Christian Men hold all the power in this country. They have all the guns, all the men, the lions share of the wealth, the offices of power...

What exactly do they have to gain by rational discussion? If reason and rational thought decided who had power then those who have acquired power via strength, violence, and wealth would have the potential to lose it.

If reason is a threat to your power why value it? We act astonished that the right rejects science, medicine, evidence, facts... What exactly do they have to gain from the truth?

* that gaining something by rational discussion is a pre condition for rational discussion.

* That they do have anything to gain from the truth

Have you tried actually talking "reason and rational thought"? Somehow I don't think White Christian Men own all the guns. And I'd suggest Non-WCM are making great strides accumulating wealth and power. Clichés and stereotypes interfere with reason and rational thought.
