As the poster you were responding to aptly demonstrated, the Trump crowd is perfectly willing to accept an empty slogan as fact and go right on repeating it, regardless of whether its true or not or whether there is anything to it.
Many of them absolutely believe the Hillary Clinton had a child sex ring in a pizza parlor on Connecticut Ave, and that Obama is a Muslim.
They still believe whatever crap the man in their AM radio tells them. And since the man in their radio (or on the Reddit or Twitter feed) knows that they dont make money unless they tell this audience what it wants to believe.
That was just enough to nudge Trump close enough to win on an inside straight in 2016, dispite losing the popular vote badly.
I think that the best hope that Trump ever had was a repeat of that pattern.
The polls suggest otherwise, at the moment.
And the Russians have their own problems, so the carefully orchestrated right wing media campaign that they ran for Trump in 2016 is not likely to have the same effect.
And, since most of the people who innocently fell for fake news that was fed to them from the Russian source through their social media feeds, people outside Trump world will be a lot more skeptical about accepting this garbage at face value.
Of course, Trumpsters have a bottomless appetite for this fake nonsense., but it may turn out to be a circular firing squad.
