Most poor people in the U.S are their own worst enemies and deserve none of my pity

How many struggling young people making less than $15/hr have you seen with a $500 phone? Expensive clothes? A car out of their price range? How many of them could choose to live somewhere cheaper, eat for cheaper and cut non-essentials to save money? How many of them bitch about money while wasting countless hours browsing social media or watching Netflix? Most "poor" people in the U.S have no concept of what it really means to be poor and struggling. Our "poor" live better than the middle class of many countries. Even our homeless have it pretty good by global standards. Most "poor" people in the U.S are simply terrible at managing their finances. They expect more than they can actually afford because most of them are entitled morons. They deserve and will receive none of my pity.

I was blessed with common sense and didn't need to be taught that I shouldn't live outside of my means.

You really have no idea. Stop pontificating from your chair, you have no idea what real people go through.

Which part of my pontificating isn't true?

The Victim Culture Cult , your self proclaimed betters, will be hearing none of that.

Their world does not rotate without victims, there always needs to be fresh meat.

Your threads are so bad they don't deserve contributions.

While he lacks tact, he is mostly right that people in the US that are poor are largely that way due to their own shortcomings rather than it being difficult to escape poverty. 97% of the people that follow the 3 simple rules of not having children outside of marriage, graduate high school, and get a job will escape poverty and those aren't difficult nor exclusionary. He is also correct that by virtue of being born in America you are in the 1% globally, pretty much everyone even what we call the "poor" in America were born with silver spoons in their mouth by global standards.

We are a consumer economy that survives by people buying stuff and if they work in the US you can not compare their income and lifestyle to that of another country that they do not live. Americans are rich by the standards of Sudan but you cannot live in the US on the costs of goods, rents and services that they pay in Sudan. You just flunked economics.

Even accounting for cost of living poor Americans have it better than most of the rest of the world. Will you address the rest of my post?

That economy is circling the drain and cant be salvaged now.

America is deeply bankrupt and the nation has been very poorly maintained...and the people tend to suck now...just look at how they behave..at how stupid most claim to be...

Maybe you just don't have much pity. You know, kind of like that Ebenezer Scrouge character. Think about it. Isn't this something he would say?

Be careful, you may get a visit from the Ghost of Christmas Future.

The whole point of living in America is to buy things. To spend your money. It gives us joy, it's a part of our culture. All our livelihoods depend on an economy driven by consumerism. You're a bit late to start complaining about it now.

Poor Americans have it worse than most of the developed world because of the cost of healthcare, housing, and education. Our quality of food sucks and we have a lower standard of living. There is a huge divide between the billionaires and what is left of the middle class and the working poor. The American dream is now a myth with each generation being worse than their parents.

Your post takes me back to Reagan and the “welfare queens” and “strapping young bucks.” Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I thought we had gotten past that bigotry, but glad to see that someone is keeping the old traditions alive.

If you live with your parents, as many youth do, you could afford such things if you are not paying rent.

If you are paying rent, probably not.

But, you are blanket generalizing, which is not a good way to devise policy for America, you need facts, not pull-crap-out-of-your-ass opinions.

I was blessed with common sense and didn't need to be taught that I shouldn't live outside of my means.

If you were so blessed with 'common sense' you'd not be making blanket generalizations about large groups of people.
