trump against mail in voting, unless he does it- caught in another lie

trump was asked by a reporter why he is against mail in voting. trump called it corrupt, but trump recently voted by mail. The reporter asked him to explain, good for him, bad for others. First what amazed me is trump didn't just yell at the reporter, calling the question shameful.

Trump's defense, he couldn't get to Florida to vote. We have restrictions due to covid 19 and people are staying home so this virus will stop spreading. Mail in voting should be applauded by the White House and trump, after- all trump really wants the country back to normal.

Curious though, trump can travel often to Florida for golf, but something as important as voting, not so much.

The lie by trump- Calling mail-in voting completely corrupt, but doing it himself. No matter how you look at his mail-in opinion or use of it, only one of trump's mail-in can be true: Is it corrupt? or Is it not corrupt, you did it

Context is important.

The question he was asked by the reporter was in reference to a "national mail in voting law"...you know, that thing that Nancy was pushing for (and still is).

The people of wisconsin weren't given the opportunity to stay at home. So much for the president's restrictions. It's also strange how it doesn't apply to golfing.

Context for Trump's words yesterday are not important, he was speaking generally about mail voting.
Hey, I think restricted mail in voting is proper and future expansion should be debated.

But right this moment our country is experiencing a crisis and many rules have been temporarily altered. To mitigate covid and get the country back to normal faster, Trump should have championed mail in and explained his experience and how easy it was to do.
 
Republicans know that mail in voting will result in more voters, and that will hurt their candidates. Therefore, it is in their best interest to make voting as difficult and as frightening as possible. This is because they are scumbag assholes.

Indeed, making in-person voting an option goes against the advice of his own government's healthcare professionals.

Hmm... maybe he can explain how he lives in Florida, but resides in DC. It seems to me that Trump 'moved' from NY to Florida on paper, perhaps because Florida has no state income tax.

Exactly. In many areas of the nation, the GOP is increasingly becoming the minority party who depends on various forms of voter suppression and outright trickery to even have a chance in elections. This is simply another example of their tactics.

Context isn’t important at all.

Trump voted by mail, using an invalid excuse for not voting in person (after all he plays golf in Florida more than he does his president act).

Then he attacked the idea, even though he just did it.

Do as I say, not as I do is a first principle with Trump/

So is never giving anyone a straight or honest answer.

And so is never paying your bills.

The right wing Wisconsin Supreme Court went to the now right wing US Supreme Court in order to get permission to force voters to risk their lives and drive halfway across a state to vote.

That tells you a lot of what you need to know about how much faith the GOP has in democracy, and the lengths to which they will go to disenfranchise anyone who might not vote their way.

The heroes stood in line at 5 polling stations while the GOP closed 165 stations.

The coward stood in hospital scrubs and a mask to tell everyone that it was OK.

The GOP is running a voter caging operation in Wisconsin that may well throw almost 10% of registered voters off the rolls.

Coupled with the extraordinary attack that they and the US Supreme Court staged against democracy, this is a real threat.

Especially when you have an Attorney General who thinks we should choose a king every four years, and a president who thinks he is one.

According to everything I've read, the governor said he did not have the authority to cancel the election and the Supreme Court agreed with him.

Canceling the election seems to have been against the law.

Why did the Governor change his position on this?

Are you telling me that the GOP went to court to force an election, in the hope of depressing turnout?????

Are you telling me that the Speaker of the GOP State Legislature did not appear in hospital scrubs to tell voters it was safe?

Are you telling me that the GOP house didn’t close all but 5 polling stations in the entire state?

If you think any of that is “paranoia and delusion” then you can refute those facts (and we both know they are facts).

Of course, you could document how any of this didn’t happen.

We both know you can’t.

This is a full on attack on democracy. Period. Doing anything you can, no matter how desperate or unreasonable to cheat your way into an electoral outcome. And using the law to do it.

Trump was right. People do vote by mail but there is a tremendous opportunity for crooks to fraudulently alter the vote count through mail in voting if rabid political partisans are in charge of opening the mail with few protections against vote count manipulation in place.

My own state tried to kick us off the rolls. I'm still pissed about it.
