'Politicize My Death': Americans Furious Supreme Court Forcing Wisconsin Voters to 'Literally Risk Their Lives to Vote'
It seems for political reasons, the conservatives on "our" supreme court ruled that absentee ballots post marked no later than today would not be counted in this primary election overturning a lower court. The reason this is happening is because the number of absentee ballots requested due to Covid 19 was so overwhelming that the state could not get many of them mailed out in time for them to be used and returned. So this meant that instead of using the absentee ballot, the person had to go and vote in person. Essentially it was vote and take a huge chance on getting the virus or do not vote. To make things worse, the drop off places for absentee ballots were closed early so that many who could have used them were unable to do so. So for many people this is just one more reason to know that we no longer have a impartial SCOTUS, but one whose only goal is to keep the GOP in power and so they no longer believe in this court. Pititful.

Masks...social distancing...if it's good enough for Walmart shoppers, it's good enough for voters.

The supreme court trying to get people to decide between their personal safety and their right to vote is a bad look.

It's voluntary.

Now that is one of the dumbest answers I have ever gotten on this message board, bar none. So it is okay for the SCOTUS to make voting as dangerous as possible because it is voluntary. THis country is based on the vote, or are you one of the Trumpsters that think Trump should be a dictator or a forever president nlike Putin?

The rulings of courts are based on law, not left wing histrionics. They're only arbiters of the law. If you don't like the law, change the law instead of whining.

The emotional knee jerk response I had was the court screwed to pooch on this. Then I thought more about it. I don't want an election to be screwed with without proper protocols being followed. The Supreme Court most likely ruled on what the law actually says not what is the emotionally gratifying response. To me the tale away is that all states should set up a contingency plan for elections in times of emergencies, that's paased by the legislature and signed into law. Had these states had such a defined course of action prior to this emergency I feel the Supreme Court would of ruled different.

I don't want any chief executive, whether of a state or a country to have the power to postpone an election.

My own state had the legislature passed a law postponing the election and the governor signed it.

Take the necessary precautions and everything should be ok. Right?

Perhaps that could be so except the SCOTUS vote was along political lines. A clear decision on the law would have been one-sided.

If everyone used early voting, we wouldn't be here.

I find it interesting that the SCOTUS stopped in person oral aruments before the court to insure their safety, but they do not mind making other people unsafe by forcing them to vote in person. Do you not find that very intersting?

Ah, but in Wisco we have a gop controlled legislature and they wanted the election like this so their chances of winning went up. they also closed all but 5 polling places in Milwaukee with a population of over 500 thousand. You guessed it, Milawaukee votes Dem/

The GOP wshich controls our legislature do not want early voting as it tends to favor the Dems.

I don't care, the SCOTUS ruled on the complaint that the power to delay an election did not sit with the governor. Anything more than that apparently is your problem, fix it and stay out of giving my governor the power to postpone an election.

Therefore, subject to any further alterations that the State may make to state law, in order to be counted in this election a voter’s absentee ballot must be either (i) postmarked by election day, April 7, 2020, and received by April 13, 2020, at 4:00 p.m., or (ii) hand-delivered as provided under state law by April 7, 2020, at 8:00 p.m.

The Court’s decision on the narrow question before the Court should not be viewed as expressing an opinion on the broader question of whether to hold the election, or whether other reforms or modifications in election procedures in light of COVID–19 are appropriate. That point cannot be stressed enough.

Wisconsin wanted to allow people to cast votes AFTER election day. If they to make a change like that they should have moved election day.

Wrong. If you are elderly and have to stand in lines for hours, it does not matter how you try to save yourself. But of cousre those who are trumpsters and GOPers do not care about anything but winning and if it goes against what our forefathers thought of as a democracy, tough ****.

It's obvious they favor their own safety over the voters of Wisconsin, who they have decided to not cut any slack.

I doubt anyone will be standing in line for hours.

Sure its interesting. So was the Mayor of Chicago getting a hair cut while placing a ban on people getting haircuts in the city. It seems like more of an example of those who lead having a diffrent set of standards than those who don't.

Is it? lol

Vote from home. You don't have to go to the polls if you don't want to. You think it's dangerous? Don't go.

This is why leftists constantly make themselves look so ****ing stupid.

The Wisconsin election commission set dates and calendars of events in place YEARS ago. They have known this was coming for MONTHS. You have heard the line "you had ONE job and you ****ed it up." Well...thats them. They have had 3 months now to prepare alternative plans, to file extensions, to better advertise for their absentee ballots, their hospitalized patient ballots, their disabled patient ballots. in fact every single legal voting age citizen in the state of Wisconsin is entitled to an absentee ballot.

But they waited until the last minute to file a stay and then **** themselves because the SCOTUS didnt overturn their own state laws and guidelines that they themselves were too ****ing stupid to follow.

Way to go, leftists. Way to go.
