Why are Americans trying to fight COVID-19 with guns?

The entire article is based on a fallacy. No one is buying guns because they fear minorities.

The fallacy there is the use of the word "minorities". The fear is generalized and includes everyone outside of the immediate family.

Idiocy like this is exactly what push people to vote for Trump.

In which case, you might expect to see those trumped up fears to be being encouraged.

There is no question this happens not just here but all over the world from time to time. I can't believe you are not aware of this. Just go on you tube and type riot. You can watch videos from all over the world for years if you need proof.

Strangely enough, most of the First World (and most of the Second World [and most of the Third World]) nations don't appear to be rushing to fortify their homes in order to protect them from rioting mobs at the same rate that Americans are doing.

Of course, in those countries they do tend to have a slightly higher percentage of the population that has "a great deal" or "quite a bit" of trust in their national government than 10% and a slightly lower percentage of the population that has "none at all" or "very little" trust in their national government than 48%. Aside from the Banners never wanting to let a good crisis go to waste, many of us remember history where not being able to protect yourself in a crisis was usually deadly.

Being armed is simply frosting on the preparation cake.

this is what I am talking about when they believe they are "safe by government" when they really are not.

for all of you from other countries... anywhere from 50 to 75% of the american population is brought up to understand that no government is infallible, and they can only react to a threat for you personally, thus only YOU can keep yourself safe in times of serious crisis.

just like coronavirus , they are not saving you now... they are not capable of it. they are working on ways to stop it but those aren't ready.. you making the choice to stay at home is the biggest thing helping the pandemic right now.

the police may catch a criminal but almost always after the fact, in which you may already be dead, depending on the criminals whimsy.

I was in law enforcement. I have sat in our courtrooms and saw the corruption first hand. I saw tickets being fixed for a family members or friends as well as not being cited at all. Each and every one of us can really only depend on ourselves. I have called the police and waited over 1-1/2 hours before a constable finally showed up. He did not patrol on Friday nights. I asked him when he patrolled on Sunday morning. Then he threatened to arrest me. God help us if really needed help in riot. This was just some teenagers damaging cars around midnight.

Why should they when are young men and women are being sent all over the world to fight for them.

American troops have never gone anywhere to fight for anything that the US government didn't want them to fight for and the things that the US government wanted them to fight for were things that were good for the USA - regardless of how good they were for the people in the countries that the US government sent America's youth off to fight and possibly die.

That, BTW, is exactly the same reason (with identities changed) that every other country has always sent its youth off to fight, and possibly die, in foreign countries.
