This is a statement I made a few days ago.

"There will be death," Trump said recently. Americans know what is happening. Did we really need to hear that from our President? He goes from fantasies about how all this will end soon to voicing comments from the grim reaper.

It is past time to end the coronavirus press conferences. Devolving into campaign-like, self-congratulatory comments, and oft repeated statements from medical experts, it is time to end them. We all know what the federal government has to do. Get medical equipment out to where it is needed most while working on cures and vaccines. Trump's government should do that instead of talking about it.

But that isn't Trump. Trump is a great believer in the idea that rhetoric solves all problems. He wants Americans to think the government is doing a "tremendous" job and everybody is "doing great" because he said so.

Trump is totally incompetent. So, it stands to reason he would appoint incompetent advisors. He has fired many of them during his Presidency, and great many of them quit, unable to work for an inept President. Trump replaced them with equally incompetent people, or worse. He has many "acting" advisors because qualified people are not interested and the unqualified can't pass Senate muster even though the Senate is controlled by Trump's party.

One example is Trump's acting navy secretary, Thomas B. Modly, who relieved the commander of the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt, Brett E. Crozier, for writing to his superiors, acquainting them with the conditions aboard the Roosevelt. At most, Crozier deserved a slap on the wrist for using unsecure channels. But Modly fired him, turning a routine reprimand into major scandal for Trump. Modly then made matters worse by telling the crew of the Roosevelt that their captain was "too naive, or too stupid, to be the commanding officer of a ship like this."

Honestly, one has to work at being that stupid. One wonders how long it will be before Trump fires Modly. That is another reason Trump likes "acting" before the title. He can get rid of them easily.

Most Americans are very tired of the melodrama we keep hearing from Trump and Trump's Covid-19 team of "experts." Some "experts," Trump does most of the talking, but one of his "experts" managed to get in a word, even if it was ludicrous hyperbole. The US surgeon general, Vice Admiral Jerome Adams, spoke to Fox News on Sunday. He described the upcoming grim period of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States as a "Pearl Harbor moment" and a "9/11 moment." That is pure Hollywood, and Americans are sick of it. It was a mindless comment.

Peter Navarro is Trump's trade and manufacturing aide. He is an economic advisor, not a medical expert. So, it stands to reason Trump's appointee on the economy would publicly push back against National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci's assertion that it's unclear whether an anti-malaria drug can be used to combat the coronavirus.

Naturally, Trump thinks the medical advice from his economic advisor is more accurate than the medical advice from his medical experts, and he supports that conclusion with a lie. Trump told Americans on Sunday that he strongly backs hydroxychloroquine to treat patients with COVID-19, despite scant scientific evidence that it’s an effective treatment. “What do I know? I’m not a doctor,” Trump said. “But I have common sense. The FDA feels good about it, as you know, they approved it.”

The FDA has not approved hydroxychloroquine, a popular malaria and lupus treatment, to treat COVID-19. Medical experts warn that reports of the drug’s benefits for COVID-19 patients are anecdotal and small-scale, and there is little scientific evidence yet that it works against the coronavirus.

But Trump prefers to listen to his economic advisor. "What do you have to lose?"

Your life. Oops, I guess Trump didn't know that. This is the guy running the Covid-19 press conferences? Good Lord!

The Crozier/Modly thing could get interesting as Trump said today he was going to "get involved" on the firing.

The Crozier/Modly thing could get interesting as Trump said today he was going to "get involved" on the firing.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper told Modly that he must apologize for his remarks slamming the former commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

"Let me be clear, I do not think Captain Brett Crozier is naive nor stupid. I think, and always believed him to be the opposite," Modly said in his statement.

One can't un-ring a bell, and that is so Trumpian. Say something incredibly stupid, then say the direct opposite the next day or the next paragraph or the next sentence. Now Trump is going to get involved, or so he said. That is subject to change.

Trump will get involved by firing Modly's a$$ when the heat dies down. After all, that is why he appoints acting advisors.

I guess Trump's supporters have decided my reporting is accurate. Not a peep from them. Of course, they are too busy avoiding what Trump does and says. They prefer talking about Democrats, lefties, I.D.'s, and Joe Biden.

This thread, bitching, moaning, whining about President Trump press conferences, is now apparently bitching, moaning, whining about President Trump having TOO MANY press conferences.

If you insist on bitching, moaning and whining at least try to remain consistent.

If Trump were able to (I know, asking way too much) remain focused on only the current crisis instead repeatedly wandering off script, lying and crying about all of his perceived enemies in the media, the conferences would be much shorter and much, much more useful.

Personally, I’d be happy if the networks cut him off as soon as he begins an off topic rant. The media used to cover his rallies as “news events” until it became clear that they were nothing more than lying propagandist lovefests. His Coronavirus conferences should be treated the same way.

Turns out I was wrong. Modly outsmarted me. He quit before he got fired.

The idiot resigned on Tuesday following an uproar over a profanity-laced address to the crew of the coronavirus-stricken aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt on Sunday, Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced.

Politico reports, "He resigned on his own accord, putting the Navy and Sailors above self so that the USS Theodore Roosevelt, and the Navy as an institution, can move forward," Esper said in a statement.

I think I am going to puke. What a bunch of B.S.

Did you reply to the wrong thread? I have had no complaints about Trump's press conferences on this thread. In fact, I have enjoyed them. I love it when Trump makes a complete fool of himself.

Which, of course, he did, and you didn't challenge a single thing I said.

Trump talks too much, and by conducting these press conference, ostensibly on the Covid-19 pandemic, he opens himself up to unrelenting questions about past decisions and statements. The latest controversy is the moronic statement by his acting navy secretary. It was so bad, the guy resigned before he got fired. In four days Trump has fired Intelligence Community inspector general Michael Atkinson, Glenn Fine, the acting inspector general at the Department of Defense, who was going to lead the newly formed Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, and White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, a press secretary who never held a press conference.

All of this and more requires an explanation. The possibility exists that CNN and other networks show Trump's press conferences which have long outlived their usefulness to show how incompetent Trump is. It is so easy for reporters to get Trump riled up and off on tangent that has nothing to do with the pandemic.

The death toll is now over 12,700, and we just had our worst day, 1,877. Prompted by a question from a reporter, Trump got himself all worked up over the Wisconsin primary, mail-in ballots, voter I.D., and election fraud.

My apologies to them, the networks are doing a fine job. In November, Biden will be a shoe-in.

I get everything you’re saying, and I’m with you except, I believe at this point everyone has already made up their minds about Trump, so continuing to give him free network time to air his grievances about the terrible treatment he receives from Democrats and the evil MSM only serves to continue pumping up his idiot base.

While most Americans change the channel to get away from Trump’s idiotic lies and complaints, his base eats his **** up by the bucket. They think he’s kicking ass and taking names (not that he could do the first or is literate enough to do the second). Don’t give him or them anything.

I have gone both ways. On this thread I am pointing out the abject stupidity of these daily press conferences. I listen to just enough to get material then I change the program because I am weary of his mindless blather.

It is difficult to accept that this idiot is our President. As can be seen on this and other threads, not even his fans can support him.

Why they are his fans is one of life's greatest mysteries! How can one support a man one can't defend?

I did the same at first, and then switched to other sources that provide the same information minus the rants and ramblings of the Dotard-in-Chief.

Some, including evangelicals, support Trump for his policies that align with their agenda, some are just plain ****ty people who think like Trump, and others support Trump because they’re stupid enough to actually believe the garbage he spews.

no that wouldn't work because THEN he would be accused of not answering the reporter's question's. the idiot reporters are ASKING him about this stuff in the middle of a coronavirus press conference.

I’ve watched enough of the Coronavirus briefings to know that isn’t true.

MSM reporters are not asking irrelevant/unrelated questions however, Trump’s specially invited far right wing network (OAN) correspondent, Chanel Rion is stroking Trump’s uber fragile ego and trashing other legitimate journalists.

“Rion, a right-wing activist, accused some of the reporters in the briefing room of "siding with foreign state propaganda" and international criminal groups over Trump and the US government amid the pandemic.

But before Rion could ask her questions, Trump identified her employer and praised them for treating him "very nicely."

"OAN — very good," Trump said. "Thank you very much, they treat me very nicely. Go ahead."

Rion went on, "And on that note, is it alarming that major media players who oppose you are consistently siding with foreign state propaganda, Islamic radicalism, Latin gangs and cartels, and they work right here at the White House with direct access to you and your team?"

You are right. that why I wrote this yesterday:

Trump talks too much, and he is his own worst enemy. Here is the latest example of that.

Trump's acting navy secretary, Thomas B. Modly, relieved the commander of the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt, Brett E. Crozier, for writing to his superiors, acquainting them with the conditions aboard the Roosevelt. At most, Crozier deserved a slap on the wrist for using unsecure channels. Modly then made matters worse by telling the crew of the Roosevelt that their captain was "too naive, or too stupid, to be the commanding officer of a ship like this."

Before being fired for being a total idiot, Modly resigned.

Trump made Modly out to be a hero. He claimed that Modly put his country first, and his personal interests second.

“The captain should not have written a letter, he didn’t have to be Ernest Hemingway. He made a mistake but he had a bad day,” Trump said.

He added on Modly’s resignation: “I had heard he did because he didn’t want to cause any disturbance for our country… because he wouldn’t have had to resign, I would not have asked him. I think in really many ways that was a very unselfish thing for him to do."
Trump says he wouldn't have asked Navy Sec. Modley to resign

Trump added, "I don’t know him."

"A handful of Democratic lawmakers have called for Modly, who was appointed by President Donald Trump after the former Navy secretary was forced to resign, to step down or be fired." Lawmakers are calling for acting Navy secretary to resign or be fired - Business Insider

There is little wonder as to why Trump's fans can't defend Trump. How in the world does one defend a complete idiot?

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York, the hardest hit state in America, on Wednesday reported its highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in a single day with even veteran doctors and nurses expressing shock at the speed with which patients were declining and dying.

"An influential model cited by the White House has cut its projected coronavirus death toll by 26 percent. The University of Washington’s model now predicts that 60,000 Americans will die in the pandemic by Aug. 4, down from a projection of nearly 82,000 just a day earlier," the New York Post.

With news like that, we don't need a cheerleader in the Oval Office. We need a President. So, What is Trump's reaction to all this?

"I'd love to open with a big bang, one beautiful country and just open," Trump said on Sean Hannity's Fox News show.

"We're looking at two concepts. We're looking at the concept where you open up sections and we're also looking at the concept where you open up everything," Trump added.

Trump substitutes fantasy for encouragement. He doesn't know how to express reasonable optimism.

Then there are times when a leader should just keep his damn mouth shut, and let the experts speak.

Trump doesn't know how to do that, either.

Of course, Trump made this unrealistic, dreamy fantasy on Fox's Sean Hannity show. Only Trump's fans listen to Hannity. They believe everything Trump says.

It was only a matter of time before Americans caught on.

NBC News reports, "The latest numbers suggest the surge in job approval ratings that presidents tend to enjoy during a crisis was modest and short-lived for Trump. New polls this week by Quinnipiac, Reuters and CNN all find disapproval of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus rising to a majority of Americans.

"It’s a reversal of fortune for a president who benefits from a committed minority of supporters but has never quite managed to win over a majority of the country. "

The "committed minority of supporters" are strangely silent about all this. They try to avoid Trump as they prefer talking about Democrats.

How good a job is Trump doing on the coronavirus pandemic? Well, here is one measure.

There are 1,585,000 cases of coronavirus in the world. With 466,000 the U.S. alone has approximately a third of the world's total.

As he usually does, Trump is overstating his own importance. He described the decision on when and how to reopen the country as the most difficult one he’s had to make in his life.

“And we’re going to make a decision, and hopefully it’s going to be the right decision,” he said. “I will say this. I want to get it open as soon as we can.”

He can relax. He won't be making that decision.

Trump didn't shut the economy down. State and local governments did. Trump won't be re-opening the economy. State and local governments will.

The president has continued to predict the country will quickly return to normal and bounce back like never before, but he has limited say in when and how that could begin. Many governors have instituted stay-at-home orders and other lockdowns until at least June.

Coronavirus government response updates: '''Biggest decision of my life,''' Trump says, about reopening country - ABC News

This guy is unbelievable. He spent two and a half hours today telling us how important he is, and it was all B.S.

Trump continues his annoying habit of interrupting reporters because he doesn't want to hear the question. That is a clear indication of weakness and his vulnerability.

He is an extremely weak President. He is unsure of himself and he is a bully. Also, he is too dumb to realize the media always gets the last word, at times, over and over again as it did today after his mindless press conference.

Agreed. Someone who needs to brag to the media that they are a "very stable genius," clearly thinks they are anything but. And I would have to agree with Trump on that.

I found this article:

Confident People Are Calm And Insecure People Are Loud
If you are calm, you’re undefeatable. Because they are in control of their own minds. They can control themselves, unlike insecure people who can’t control themselves and what they’re saying.

Based on their values, Trump is the very best leader Conservative America can produce. Think about that.
