If you go against Trump apparently you're "terrible" and a "disgrace."

WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump on Saturday defended his decision to fire Michael Atkinson, the intelligence community inspector general who flagged the Ukraine whistleblower complaint that ended in his impeachment, calling him a "disgrace."

"I thought he did a terrible job, absolutely terrible," Trump said at a press briefing at the White House. "He took a fake report and brought it to Congress… not a big Trump fan, that I can tell you."

"That man is a disgrace to IGs," Trump said of Atkinson. "He is a total disgrace."

Trump also attacked the whistleblower who first reported the phone call Trump had with Ukraine that was at the heart of the impeachment inquiry.

"They give this whistleblower a status that he doesn't deserve, he's a fake whistleblower. And frankly, somebody ought to sue his ass off," Trump said. (end)

This egomaniac will not tolerate anyone who doesn't sing his praises.

Trump hires the best people to fire and trash.

“....the best people, blah, blah, blah.....”

Atkinson became Inspector General of the Intelligence Community (ICIG) in May 2018. He was nominated to the position in November 2017 by President Donald Trump and was confirmed by the United States Senate by voice vote on May 14, 2018. - from Wikipedia

Trump didn't want a "yes" man as IG, just an impartial, honest one. Atkinson didn't meet those requirements.

To anyone who thinks Trump can't afford to be distracted from handling the outbreak, he's still focused on getting revenge for being impeached.

The ICIG engaged in a conspiracy to undermine the administration for political reasons. He has no business holding the job.

The impeachment was revenge for him getting elected, so you had to know there was going to be some payback.

I don't think that's a proven fact or he would of faced criminal charges.

And this is why Republicans should never be in power. Democrats are about governance and Republicans are about "payback."

Trump's face when he was told all he could do was fire the IG.

He will always be the impeachypeach.

Good article about the subject.

Trump’s Firing of Michael Atkinson Reveals His Real Priorities—and They’re Not Coronavirus

- Trump has a track record of firing and retaliating against officials who don’t blindly follow his orders and mimic his mood swings, no matter how unethical, illegal, dangerous, or irresponsible.

His history of insulting the intelligence community, cherry-picking intelligence to suit his personal narratives, prioritizing loyalty over experience, and rooting out anyone who speaks truth (a core mission of the intelligence community).

Plus, Trump has never supported oversight, unless of course it’s focused on Democrats. The impetus for Atkinson’s firing—namely his work to fulfill his statutory obligations to pass on what he judged to be an urgent and credible whistleblower complaint about the president’s call with the Ukrainian President - didn’t jibe with Trump’s personal desire to avoid oversight. (end)

Congress witch hunting Trump reveals it's priorities.

Atkinson wasn't hired by Congress.

I know that. But he was coordinating with Schiff to go after Trump. No president is going to stand for that.

Trump only cares about loyalty and for him that means you back up everything he says and does without question. He is dictator not a President. We are paying for letting him be President with our lives now. If we don't rid ourselves of him we are going to be in even worse danger. He has gutted our public servants in his vain attempt to gain full control and it really shows now.

What did Atkinson do wrong?
Better question is "what did he do right?" We've discussed this months ago ad infinitum. Bottom line, he works for the President and at his pleasure.
