Yes, and how is giving teachers a raise going to solve that?
BINGO!!!!!!
Isn't your income dependent on education?
Yes, and how is giving teachers a raise going to solve that?
BINGO!!!!!!
Your alternative seems to be a largely illiterate society.
Bringing this country to a standstill for we can Reform it
Incorporating "Patriotism" in all our schools everyday
This leads to more of a virtuous citizenry
This isn't a Teacher bashing thread. Although they're also part of the enabling
Time you thought a little. I gave you the clues above. Put them together. Why did the right just give up all the power in education? Think
Did the left steal it?

Wow, I'm impressed. That's a huge step to make for someone on the political left. Rest assured, every progressive on this forum that read your post clutched their pearls with great intensity.
Already covered that. Try to keep up.Go slow.
How did the right take over education?
Already covered that. Try to keep up.
Explained that, too.Why is the right so weak and powerless in education?
Explained that, too.
I'm not the pearl clutching type, but I do ask this question....
Why should the public fund a school that then tells them they have no say in the curriculum? More to the point....if the public is funding a school, how the hell does it get to call itself private, and if it can't call itself private, then what are we really talking about here?
If you want to get the government out of it completely, I'm all for that idea.

I don't want to get the government out of it completely...that was the point.
There isn't a country that ranks higher than us in education that doesn't have government run education. Not one.
Wouldn't teaching kids to love all humanity be even more virtuous? Why the focus on tribalism? That has never worked that well in the past.
All these geopolitical lines are, or at least should be, primarily for administrative purposes. They become a problem though when people start taking them too seriously, and start thinking that it's OK to treat people on the other side of that artificial line in a way other than fellow human beings.
Wouldn't teaching kids to love all humanity be even more virtuous?
I know, I was being facetious. But why on earth do you believe the state should determine what your kid is taught?
Yes, it's very beneficial for the state to control what kids learn, therefore, and not surprisingly, all states control what kids learn.
I have an idea, let's ask the parents themselves this question:
"Regarding your kid's education, would you prefer to have a voucher in order to select the private school of your choice, or would you prefer that your child be assigned to a public school by the government?
Gee, I wonder which one they would pick.
And what does that look like? What do teachers need to do everyday to teach kids to love America?
That's up to the parents to change things. Most kids just continue the cycle when they get older and have children.
You're wording the question wrong. How is giving BAD teachers a raise going to solve that? We need to pay GOOD teachers well so that they will stay in the profession and more will want to enter the profession knowing that they won't just get a raise across the board. They have to work for it.

Yet they dont pick that. They elect politicians that support public schools. The people have spoken
"The tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy."
--Montesquieu, Spirit of the laws, 1748.
. The people have spoken
Psst......
Isn't your income dependent on education?
Yep, they get the majority of our "Moderate" U.S. Population to go along
By the way, we're at best 17th in the world in Education
Define patriotism. In my book, who fought in Vietnam were patriots, as were people who opposed the war. A president who humps the flag is not a patriot.
Yes yes....you hate free elections. We know

And why you keep poo pooing this?
