Voter suppression

Here I wait 5 min (max) to get into polling booth - yeah it's too easy here. Maybe we should try it and find out how it's improving our democracy.

It took me 2 minutes to vote. I simply went down and early voted and there was hardly anyone in line.

What you think about voter suppression? I didn't even know about it like 10 years ago. US is having fun with that crap, is it next level democracy or what?

Republicans have discovered that making it harder to vote means less voters and a better chance of winning for them.

Yeah, only Dems have to inconvenience themselves to get their behinds to a polling place.

The US media is not a reliable source for the truth. This whole voter suppression thing is left wing propaganda. The right want to make sure that only people eligible to vote vote and the left want everyone to vote, even if you can't prove you are eligible. They call this voter suppression.

I firmly believe dead people should not be allowed to vote.

Would you make an exception for Coronavirus victims? Brings up an interesting question though. What if you mail in your ballot but die before the election? Is your vote counted?

Lucky me, I'm easily convinced. So everything is OK :)

Dead people don't vote. That is another lie told to you by conservatives. I've gotten to the point that people who repeat this claim of a massive amount of voter fraud is both incapable of critical thought and ignorant of even basic concepts of statistics.

But the opposite is also true. Voter suppression doesn't add up to a hill of beans. Funny how during a recent election the left were hollaring voter suppression in Texas due to the closing of several voting places, making very long wait times but the very same thing happened in Democratically controlled LA and the left weren't hollaring voter suppression at all. It's just a left wing excuse for losing, like gerrymandering is.

Trump and GA House Speaker have expressed concern that mail in votes would increase turnout and thus cause them to lose.

The voting laws are the voting laws. No one is passing laws changing voting from mail in to in person. I challenge you to find such evidence. It is YOU guys who want to change the voting laws.

Mail in ballots. Safe, secure, more time to research and ponder your vote. No lines, no fraud, EVERY ONE VOTES.

That way in my state, very convenient and efficient.

Man, does anything really happen in Finland at all?

I never hear anything coming out about Finland?

Nothing ever happens in Finland. Finland is horrible place to be.

That's why I'm looking what's going on in US. You guys have most interesting people in politics. For example: Our president don't know best words. I know that, because our president don't tell us if he's smart and know those best words (I'm assuming he don't know best words). But Trump know them and he's also very stable genius. We don't have anyone like Trump. So sad.

I think it's disgusting and unpatriotic. The right wing repugs have been trying to suppress the voting of minorities across America for years now. The Trump Klan Party repugs are trying even harder than those in the past, because they are more desperate to keep their new Racist in Chief in office. The Make America White Again crowd is garbage that needs to be taken to the curb for pickup.

If the amount of time one might have to wait in line to exercise one of the most important rights they have is problematic, then it's something they should address within their local government.

That's a nice platitude, but if they're in a Democratic area where voting is intentionally made an hours long wait by a Republican government, they can't 'address within their local government'. And that's if they're allowed to vote at all since there was a policy of purging many.

You didnt address my point that Republicans are motivated to suppress the vote. But I don't blame you. You can't.

This doesn't make sense. Complain or not, barriers to voting help Republicans, high turnout helps Democrats.

Voter roll purges are a curious way to make sure all eligible voters can vote.

can easily be fraudulent and takes a ton of man hours to confirm that it is the person that sent it in.

You're funny

No, it's NO joke; actually fellers, Colorado has proved that it AbsaByGodLutely IS the way to go.

you didn't read your own article did you?
It takes them a ton of man hours to do that.

They have multiple systems setup in order to prevent it.
so i guess i was right after all.

And what about the dude that OPENS your ballot?

And yet there have been several instances where total votes exceeded total population.

But! It ISSECURE, SAFE, AND INCLUSIVE. When you sum up the man hours to run a "single day polling place" election I doubt there is much difference, other than more people vote and no one is excluded that doesn't want to be.
