What you think about voter suppression? I didn't even know about it like 10 years ago. US is having fun with that crap, is it next level democracy or what?

Did you have a bad nightmare or something? You can drink a glass of warm milk for this kind of thing/...

Don't knock it till you try it, FinnFox.

In all seriousness, I have found that there is about as much evidence for widespread voter suppression as there is for widespread ballot stuffing. It is mainly just an anti-democratic rhetorical talking point used by the political left in our country to explain away electoral defeats. It is also tinged with a form of condescending racial paternalism, working under the assumption that racial minorities (particularly African Americans) are too poor or ignorant to obtain photo IDs or stand in line at a polling station.

I firmly believe dead people should not be allowed to vote.

Here I wait 5 min (max) to get into polling booth - yeah it's too easy here. Maybe we should try it and find out how it's improving our democracy.

That clearly depends on where you live.

The population of Finland is what, 5.5 million? Finland Demographics 2020 (Population, Age, Sex, Trends) - Worldometer

NYC alone has 8.5 million. So it might take a few more minutes here to get to vote, depending on what part of the USA one lives in.

I've lived in three of the four largest cities in America, am Black, and have never had a problem with getting to vote. Even when I was stationed overseas.

If the amount of time one might have to wait in line to exercise one of the most important rights they have is problematic, then it's something they should address within their local government.

Wow, I didn't know that one  I must thank you as now I'm finally aware of my abysmal ignorance.

You need enough polling sites - in big city it's harder to do, but another way to solve that problem is extending time when you can vote. There should be ways to around that problem.

I was being ironic. In all seriousness, I have found that there is about as much evidence for widespread voter suppression in favor of Republicans as there is for widespread ballot stuffing in favor of Democrats. It is mainly just an anti-democratic* rhetorical talking point used by the political left in our country to cynically explain away electoral defeats. It is also tinged with a form of condescending racial paternalism, working under the assumption that racial minorities (particularly African Americans) are too poor or ignorant to obtain photo IDs (they are not) or too lazy and impatient to go and stand in line at a polling station (they are not), or lacking in mental acuity enough to register to vote (they are not).

*By "anti-democratic" I mean that it is a cynical and self-serving mode of reasoning used to undermine the legitimacy of elections by claiming that (1) there was a sizable cohort of voters; (2) their right or ability to vote was stolen from them unjustifiably; (3) but for their inability to vote they would have voted in that particular election; (4) they would have voted for the complainant, and (5) based on the result of these putative votes, the complainant would have won the election. And this claim is made typically without a scintilla of real evidence to back it up. It is a line of argumentation that ignores the actual result of an election to allow one the pretense of having one the election, but that it was stolen from them.

No, that's just the racist right trying one again to blame minorities for being incompetent, when they are really just trying to deny them the right to vote as they always have.

Mail in ballots. Safe, secure, more time to research and ponder your vote. No lines, no fraud, EVERY ONE VOTES.

Dead people don't vote. That is another lie told to you by conservatives. I've gotten to the point that people who repeat this claim of a massive amount of voter fraud is both incapable of critical thought and ignorant of even basic concepts of statistics.

Yes, I cannot vote at the polling station that is a mile away

I get there , and I'm turned away(LOL)

I think it's the alive ignorant Americans you should really fear

Man, does anything really happen in Finland at all?

I never hear anything coming out about Finland?

The only voter suppression I saw in recent years was when (I think it was) the Black Panthers were outside polling places scaring people away.

Absolutely.

My biggest problem is every time there are recounts, the dumebers significantly increase to the democrat candidate. It's as if a poll worker is filling in unchecked boxes.

Please... If you do not vote for either candidate. Do not leave it blank. At a minimum, check the "other" box and write in something like "Mickey Mouse," or "none of the above."

Again, there is about as much evidence for this anti-democratic received wisdom you have repeated against Republicans as there is for Democrats regularly stuffing ballot boxes with additional false votes in their favor. It is just a way to undermine the legitimacy of the results of free and open elections by claiming that the other side cheated and that your side are the rightful winners because you naturally represent the true popular feeling of the voters.

I've never claimed any such thing. I think Donald Trump won the election because he won more electoral college votes, not because of Russians or Comey, or stolen e-mails. I challenge you to find evidence I've said otherwise.

You claimed liberals think black people are too stupid to get I.D.s and the fact is the biggest opponents to Republican voter. I.D. laws and all their efforts to suppress minority votes are minorities themselves. If its simply a matter of getting an I.D., then why does such a large percentage of black and latino voters disagree with these laws and challenge them in court and in public?

Yet, no voter was scared away. See how Fox News works?

Trump and GA House Speaker have expressed concern that mail in votes would increase turnout and thus cause them to lose.

It all depends on where you live. Highly populated precincts have a longer waiting time, rural areas much less. It is more about personal commitment. Some people moan just about every inconvenience, others just do what needs to be done.
So, if some have to get a voter ID, or have to drive a mile more, they complain, while others see it as a fact of life and move on.

can easily be fraudulent and takes a ton of man hours to confirm that it is the person that sent it in.
