It’s the communist economic result, it actually proves Trump was right about China.

And we need a trump second term where Trump is going to spearhead making the Chicoms pay. Crippling economic sanctions, diplomatic recognition of Taiwan, defunding UN agencies that consider us and China equal, etc

I mean in one form or another.

No economic slump is ever permanent, but I can’t imagine it will be quick. It will be years before many feel safe taking cruises again. That said if you’re young and healthy and didn’t lose your job you may be able to get some crazy good cruise deals this summer...

All those people couped up inside for months, the first thing they're going to want to do is rush outside and do recreational stuff.

It's mind boggling anyone would even want to go on a cruise after all this.

i think companies will be forced to use even more robots (they can't get sick) and tons of jobs will be cut out. drones for delivery. grocery stores restructured. etc.



AND, companies now HAVE to hoard even more money to prepared for something like this happening again. you working folks are gonna be screwed to the wall.

While I agree that the upcoming Recession could be very harsh, I would add that it will be a short lived Recession. Once the virus has passed and businesses reopen their doors I believe there will be a huge surge in hiring and it should not take all that long to get the Nation back up in running.

Yeah but what recreational stuff they do depends on how much dough they have.

I may drink myself silly at the local hangout, but that won’t replace all the days I would’ve gone if this never happened.

I was going to go visit my friend in LA after I got back from Norway, that did not happen and whether I do that once orders are lifted... well I don’t know.

There’s at least two trips I was planning to fly on that I probably won’t be.

Well being young and healthy you really have nothing to worry about on a cruise.

Problem for the ship is, all the people who buy cruises are old and may be more wary for awhile

How did the deficit lead to mass unemployment? Unless most of those 6.6 million unemployed were Federal employees fired to get the budget under control?

Not really. There are no US laws on cruises. That's why there are a lot of rapes and murders that go unprosecuted on cruises. Carnival will try to give you a discounted cruise voucher to make it right.

I doubt it. It's going to take time to undo all the closures. A LOT of businesses will never reopen.

I don't know if this is "deepest recession ever", but it's going to be bad for a long time.

His tax cuts were a huge failure. Instead of reinvesting corporate tax cuts many corporations used it for buybacks that temporalily lifted the stock. Most c level employees get paid by stock results so they got huge bonuses. All those gains already evaporated so the effect of the tax cut is zero.

What is wrong with buying back stock? You always just start with this presupposition that a company doing what they want with their own money is wrong. No one outside your far left social circle believes this

So, if these corporate tax cuts had not gone through, all things being equal you believe we would not be suffering from mass-unemployment due to the Coronavirus shut-down and social distancing orders that have gone into effect throughout our nation's most economically productive states?
