Dr. Drew: This is an overblown, press-created hysteria

They arent in every airport in america?
Sure they are. Almost every person in the US, who flies nowadays has a smartphone that has some form of social media either as an app on their phone or at least available to them.

Not quite

Coronavirus: U.S. Still Seeing Thousands Of Flights, Despite A Drop In Air Travel : Coronavirus Live Updates : NPR

But people are still getting their news from the MSM. Thats why theyre called the MSM. Other sources just repeat and opine.

Ratings Skyrocket for Cable News Amid Wall-to-Wall Coronavirus Coverage
And social media. I'm willing to bet that more people spend more time on social media than they do watching mainstream media.

And they go to millions of different places. But they all see CNN at the airport and many other places.

Because his opinion makes sense. Run it through your own filters.

He’s got his head way way up his ass. And if he equates this to SARS he needs to set fire to his medical license.

And they go to millions of different places. But they all see CNN at the airport and many other places.
They can also see social media, which has all sorts of lies and hysteria inducing crap on it.

Yes, they still watch the news. Just not at the airport.

I’m literally at the airport right now. I’m at the airport all the time, because I fly planes for a living. It’s a ghost town. I am specifically responding to “it’s on at every airport.” The airport isn’t where people get their news.

Have you been to an airport in the last 10 years? People arent sitting there watching the TVs that you can barely hear. They are on their phones, scrolling through social media, on their computers doing the same. Some are reading or playing games, but few are watching that TV.

Are you unaware that smartphones provide access to the internet, even in the airports? And on trains and buses, even their cars.

COVID-19 is indeed being ridiculously over-hyped by the media. That includes Fox News who has been deliberately inciting panic. I was listening to Fox News on the radio yesterday and they began with dramatic high energy music and the announcer says, "Millions died during the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918. Will millions of Americans die because of COVID-19?" To even make such a comparison in that manner is deliberate attempt to incite fear and panic. Fox, of course, is not the only media source deliberately inciting panic by intentionally over-hyping COVID-19.

COVID-19 is being grossly overblown by the media, which is causing those in government and many US citizens, to panic and act irrationally. COVID-19 is no worse, and even better in many cases, than other influenza epidemics we've had in prior years.

Your missing the point. With all that people still get most of their news from MSM.

Says who, you? What same things are you talking about? Please provide examples.

I'm willing to bet my facebook feed holds much the same things from different people over the course of a day, especially when it comes to right wing propaganda. I have a lot of military friends and even some family who are right wing. It isnt my left wing friends and family posting a lot of political stuff except the occasional posts in support of gay or transgender rights.

People are Panicing? Other than some initial hording issues I don't see anything of the sort.

No they dont. I'm willing to bet most people get most of their news from social media. I get much of mine from this site, at least the "taster" of whatever the topic, and then search for further info.

You have yet to show that a) mainstream media is putting out info to panic people, and b) that any false info people are getting, panicking over is coming from mainstream media rather than social media.

I provided examples. Ratings have skyrocketed. Your friends are not my friends. But we both are seeing same info from fox or cnn or whatever MSM.

You would bet wrong. Even social media is getting its news from MSM, because social media doesnt create anything. It repeats.

Which doesnt prove that people are getting any wrong info from those sources nor that "panic" (which you haven't shown is happening) is caused by their reporting rather than info people who are panicking or overreacting are getting from social media, which is much more likely to be wrong.

Prove it. Prove social media is only using info from mainstream media. You have yet to provide any evidence to support your claims.

Wheres the evidence of panic? I've seen only a couple of incidents that I would consider "panic". And those were minor in comparison to what could happen.

Before the Internet really got going, before true social media online, there was the OJ incident. 13 channels in rural NC (I know because I counted) were trailing that little white Bronco. Was that overblown? Too much? Was it panicking? How much is too much? What should news reports be about?
