Biden leads Trump in new polls despite coronavirus approval bounce - POLITICO

Three polls released over the last week show Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump among voters nationwide, despite the uptick in Trump’s approval rating as his administration confronts the coronavirus outbreak engulfing the U.S.

Biden’s lead is far from secure, given the tumultuous situation gripping the country and Trump’s 2016 advantage in the Electoral College. The latest result, in an ABC News/Washington Post poll released Sunday, shows Biden with just a 2-point lead over Trump, 49 percent to 47 percent — well within the survey’s margin of error.

Biden also led Trump among registered voters in national polls released last week by Fox News and Monmouth University. The Fox News survey, conducted over roughly the same time period last week, shows Biden 9 points ahead of Trump, 49 percent to 40 percent. The Monmouth poll, which was conducted a little earlier, over last weekend, had Biden at 48 percent, with Trump at 45 percent.

Even if the Fox News poll is an outlier, all three surveys show a consistent pattern: In each, Trump has equaled or surpassed his previous high-water mark in job approval. But his vote share against Biden in each survey trails his approval rating.

Taken together, the polls suggest a slightly larger-than-usual slice of Democratic-leaning and independent voters are telling pollsters they now approve of the job Trump is doing as president — but support for giving him a second term lags behind among these same voters.

We'll have to see how this actually plays out come November. We all remember when Hillary was touted as a shoe-in based on almost every poll in 2016 except Rasmussen. Yet while she did get more popular votes, she lost the Electoral College in a landslide.

Biden may be experiencing the very same thing, only with less fervor than 2016 voters. Time will tell.

Yup. Everybody was Hillary was a shoe-in the last time, and look what happened...

LOL!!

All three of these polls had to cook their sampling numbers...just to get Biden within the margin of error.

Hell, that Fox News poll, once again, had to make sure that 49% of the people they talked to were Democrats. That's how pathetic the pollsters are, how wrong they are and how a REAL poll (I know...a contradiction in terms) would show Biden getting kicked to the curb by Trump...just like Hillary was four years ago.

Well he can kiss Michigan goodbye
I believe you're right. But MI was getting harder to see for him even before his fighting with them.

Bidens got it in the bag so maybe you libs can stop cheering for our enemies now, alright?

Which of your enemies are you referring to?

And the Fox News poll has Biden leading Trump by nine points.

These polls are all over the place.

Well he can kiss Michigan goodbye

When trump blew off the Michigan governor’s request for crucial health supplies, I was like, “Huh. I guess he’s decided he doesn’t need Michigan anymore. Well, okay.”

I don't know Fletch. I'm not seeing that.

Cheering may not be the best word even though there was a great deal of that with regard to the trade war. Many here wanted China to win just so they could rub Trumps nose in it. Same was true with Iran after the Sulimaini killing. Many wanted a severe Iranian retaliation that would cost American lives just to rub trumps nose in it. But with the virus, its more of being a China apologist, carrying their water so to speak and repeating their propaganda. China is responsible for this global pandemic. 100%. Many on the left wont go there because theyd rather rub Trumps nose in it. Maybe you can see the pattern there.

I'm guessing "rub Trump's nose in it"? There does seem to be plenty of that here.

Nobody was “rooting for China to win” because everybody who knew anything about trade wars knew that nobody wins in a trade war. The outcome was known in advance.

News agencies sell news they don't report it, they create it. Biden still has to win the nomination and garner the Bernie vote and then Debate Trump live on stage. Oopss , gaffe, mis spoke, screw up, forget "what state". It's going to be lots of fun to watch.

He does have a problem with women.

But this is a natural progression, not unique to any political lean:

1] Trump is an a-hole

2] Everyone loves Karma

the EC was not a landslide.

#46 position on the scale of EC percentages of history, nope, that's not a landslide by any definition.

Trump Landslide? Nope - FactCheck.org

Trump Landslide? Nope - FactCheck.org

From a projected what? A Hillary victory of 322 Electoral College votes to Trumps 216? Election 2016: 7 Maps Predict Paths to Electoral Victory | Time

Or maybe the projection of 333 EC votes to 205? Election 2016: 7 Maps Predict Paths to Electoral Victory | Time

So from a high of 333 for Clinton to 205 for Trump, it turned into a win by 304 votes for Trump to 232 for Clinton.

So Trump beat predictions by 101 votes (333 - 232). There were two faithless electors who did not vote for Trump, but should have by their own State law.

Still, I'd say that was a "landslide" upset. :coffeepap:
