Trump to reporter pressing him about ventilators: 'Don't be a cutie pie' | TheHill

Well, the upside is he said it to a guy.

The exchange occurred at a White House press conference Friday...

ABC News’s Jonathan Karl asked Trump what the president could do to assure “these states, these hospitals, that everybody who needs a ventilator will get a ventilator.”

“I think we’re in really good shape. This is a pandemic, the likes of which nobody’s seen before,” Trump said, praising the work the government has already done to provide ventilators when possible.

“But everybody who needs one will be able to get a ventilator?” Karl pressed.

“Look, don’t be a cutie pie, okay?” Trump fired back. “Nobody’s done what we’ve been able to do.”

Never mind the "cutie pie," one has to ask. What exactly has he done that nobody's been able to do?

Well, he has gone in front of the cameras, showed off his stupidity, spewed his hate-filled rhetoric, and really done just about nothing. Does that answer the question? Actually, I am going to edit this post and say "flaunted his stupidity".

I was at the point in the briefing where I look over at my wife and say, “he’s riffing again”, making it up, while everyone around him rolls their eyes and try not to let the camera catch them doing it, when Trump did that.

Yesterday's press conference was literally sickening to my stomach. Trump has no respect for anyone. Everything Trump does is in political terms with a political end. Even during a pandemic he can't stop himself from being nasty to Governor Inslee or Andrew Cuomo, who by the way is doing an absolutely amazing job in NY.

Trump said he told Mike Pence not to call either of them back because they didn't 'appreciate' what the federal government was doing for them? That's outrageous. These men are fighting for the lives of millions of people, what right does Trump have to carry a grudge or have knives out for these two governors plus 'that woman' from Minnesota? It's disgusting. Trump makes this all political-based and that's not what this country needs. But then, Trump has no empathy whatsoever, so why would he give a damn about millions of Americans being in harm's way?

Nobody has ever seen the likes of a pandemic like this. Also it's a big nothingburger and we should reopen the economy yesterday. The Dow Jones index demands its blood sacrifice.

i don't really watch any Dumbass McGee press conferences unless they have circus music behind them.

Good people are saying he failed the hardest. Nobody has ever failed like him, it's true.

Yup, but the cult will make excuses. We have a crisis and our leader is completely incompetent. I guess we should be thankful for Mike Pence.

Why would a reporter ask the President a question that has nothing to do with his duties?

How would the President get medical supplies to local hospitals?

Nothing to do with his duties? Seriously? Is he the President? Is he SUPPOSED to be the man in charge?

I'm thankful for Governor Cuomo even though he's not my Governor. Not only does he have a handle on this, he also manages to keep people uplifted and positive. He gives credit to all those people who are stepping up in this crisis. The city of NY had 6,000 volunteers one day last week, they appealed to the public because they knew need would be immense, the very next day they had 62,000 volunteers, a 1000% increase. That's incredible and it shows that the people of NY no matter what color, no matter what ethnicity, no matter what level of income they have, will always step up in times of need. That's why....

What did these 62,000 volunteers do from their house?

if he wants to run against the orange turd as a Democrat, i'll consider him for a vote.

Admittedly I don't know Fibber McGee's party, but I thought "Fibber" was appropriate.

Am I aging myself? Is a 'fib' no longer a thing?

fib is still a thing. i had to look up the Fibber McGee reference, though. it sounded familiar, but i would have missed that question on Jeopardy.

Erm... they didn't volunteer to work from their house. These are retired physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, nurse aides, technicians, phlebotomists, and just regular people who are volunteering to do whatever is needed that they're capable of doing on the front lines, in hospitals, nursing homes, etc. They don't 'DO' anything until the need arises.

Jeopardy is my forte. Lot's of useless info an inch deep and a mile wide.

i sometimes play along with some success, but i'm not quite Rosie Perez in White Men Can't Jump. i have found that the older i get, though, the more useless information i have accumulated.
