White House abruptly transfers DHS official amid loyalty purge

The White House removed a top public affairs official at the Department of Homeland Security in a move that shocked many in the department as it takes a lead role in handling the coronavirus pandemic, according to two former senior DHS officials familiar with the matter.

Heather Swift, who was DHS’ deputy assistant secretary of public affairs, was abruptly pushed out of her position on Friday after the Presidential Personnel Office raised questions about her loyalty to President Donald Trump, said one of the former DHS officials.

One former official pushed back hard on the notion that Swift had been anti-Trump in any way and called her a Trump “acolyte” who “loves the president” and did not want to leave the department. Swift has been a good team player, was well-liked by her staff and colleagues and has worked hard to achieve the department’s mission, this person said.

He can hire and fire at will and, in light of what we've seen the first three years from the various administration moles and seditionists, he's right to keep cleaning house whenever it's required.

Right, of course it is.:roll: Biden barely knows where he is or what he's doing most of the time. His campaign is struggling mightily to limit his public exposure as much as possible. He's clearly mentally unfit to take on the enormous task of being president. That's simply a fact that everyone can see. Now, if they want to lie to themselves about it, that's fine but it's also dangerous.

Sorry but Trump is a proven commodity and that he's done as well as he has with three years of obstruction and active attempts to destroy his presidency, is a credit to him. Biden is declining rapidly. His politics don't even matter at this point. He has neither the physical nor mental vigor for the job.

I'm not worried at all about Biden, he will prove to be everything Trump can never be, namely competent, but I am that justifiably worried about the current President, and have been for over 3 years.
 
Yes, to a large degree Trump can do whatever he wants.

That doesn't make it good. Doesn't make his purity patrol a good thing. Doesn't stop it from being McCarthyism.

This isnt McCarthyism. If you really wanted to hurl that charge you missed your chance. The left engaged in it during the first 2 1/2 years of Trumps presidency. Every single day.

Its a shame Trump didnt say something to the effect of " We need to completely eradicate this virus before we even discuss the economy." That way every last one of you Trump hating leftists would be demanding that Trump not ignore the plight of the 3 million Americans who just lost their jobs. You guys dont even think before you post. No, he doesn't. He absolutely does not run the WH like a business owner. Not a business owner who is actually successful at business -- as opposed to being successful at reality TV.

And this lady was doing her job.

He hires people based on their willingness to flatter him, and he fires people based on his paranoia about them not flattering him ... or based on them getting better press than he does. And when the media discovers competence in his administration and reports on it, that pretty much guarantees the competent person will get better press than Trump, which puts that person on the way out the door.

If you think Biden, with his obvious rapid mental decline can be considered competent, then there's simply not much else to say about it. It's a commentary on Trump Derangement Syndrome.
