Not if they can apply for unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed and go to school full time instead.

Who ever suggested that a burger flipper should be paid the same as a doctor?

really simple now, so a 1st grader can understand

employee A is a newbie....no skills, so time on job, no training etc.....new hire now makes $ 9 bucks an hour
employee B is a two year veteran...shows up, has learned the basic skills, and now earns $ 11.50 an hour
    employee C is a 5 year veteran....supervisor of 4 other employees....making $ 16.00 bucks an hour
employee D is a 12 year vet who runs the department, and oversees 16 people....salaried at 55k annually

now the rules change....and employee A get raises to $ 15 bucks an hour....
what do you do with employee B, C, and D if anything?
Why would I need to do anything at all?

Don't believe in Capitalism? So what if the goalposts are moved by "socialism for the general welfare". Higher paid labor creates more in demand and pays more in taxes. Supply side economics is about returns to scale.

Ultimately it's a philosophical question. Why should we as a society permit those who work hard to live in squalor? There's no good answer for it.

what the **** does any of that mean?

    answer the question....

what do you do with employee B C & D

it is a fair and straight forward question

if you cant answer it....it is because your ideology doesnt match up to the real world....

in this scenario, you are the owner of this place.....you are the boss....what do you do?

    nothing is not an answer

They are probably great in fairy tale land.
Are you seriously saying that we are unable to guarantee subsistence to all American workers? That we must threaten them with privation to get them to advance?

My question is this: why are more skilled workers paid so little?

No one ever said burger flippers should be paid like doctors. Is your position so weak that you can only debate straw men?
