Trump: "You're gonna have suicides by the thousands."

So far, the poulation centers have the most infections and the most deaths. Again, that's an inescapable reality.

It isn't about just money. I knew a man who hung himself during the Great recession who had spent his whole life building a career that was ripped out from under him, lost his house, lost his family and then took his life. Rather sad. Not something I would have done, but that does not change it does happen.
 
Trump swallowed the lie told to him by Stephen Miller - the real tragedy would be him not getting reelected.

That is ultimately what he cares about. Everything else - including the health of millions - is insignificant to him compared to his own fate.

Never said it does not happen, but anyone considering suicide over the loss of money needs mental health help. I have personally started over from ground up on three different occasions, it takes hard work but one can replace their loses and once again be secure. Thing is, some put too much emphasis on money and material things when in reality happiness does not depend on it.

That kind of depression can have any assortment of triggers any of which can be pulled in the cascading events that come with major life upsets. It isn't always just the money. It can be the emotional trauma that ponybacks on the financial. Loss of identity, loss of pride, whatever. If I lost everything I would think I would just show up unannounced at some relatives door, and sleep on their sofa until Plan B came along.

This is why those $1K checks are not going to work as well as Uncle Donnie hopes. The emotional scars of all this drama will cause a lot more people to hold onto that money than they are hoping for because there is no end in sight to this virus and people will be afraid to spend it now and then a month later be even more broke, more desperate for goods, and more scared to go out in public. Americans just aren't used to this sort of stuff any more. Went to a burial today at an oooooooold church cemetery. Couldn't help but notice all the graves that simply had "Baby" on them or "Infant son of..." near graves from the late 1800's through about the 1940's. Seemed like in some areas there were more "Baby" tombstones than named adult tombstones.

As I have stated November is still a ways away, if the fight against this virus goes badly no one will remember a $1200 check. This can go either way but I doubt this will go nearly as well as Trump needs it to. Will be interesting to watch unfold.

It's not about money, it's about failure. The shameful feeling of failure as a provider, a planner, and as a man.

Sadly true, and sadly it means they are not truely the man they thought. I would highly recommend mental health assistance in such a case.

Yes, you're right but pride often discourages men from seeking help. Too often we think our minds are our friends when in fact they can easily turn against us, as well as loved ones and those we don't even know. Luckily there is not the same social stigma linked to seeking help as there once was, Some celebrities are going public with their own history of depression, and not in the usual celebrity driven way.

There may be more than one check, but by October things should already settled down and many would claim it was bribery for votes. We shall see

??? Myself and others are already calling it that.

While I do believe it will be helpful, there is no doubt in my mind that it's going thru so quickly for that reason...that and to hopefully (in his mind) actually help the economy.

There's also no doubt in my mind that millions of on-the-fence voters will see it as $$=happy happy joy joy and vote for him.

Reading posts during this crisis has shown me even more where the general intelligence level of many Americans lies....
