Liberty University let more than 1,000 students return to campus during the coronavirus outbreak - CNN

Yep. This is no joke. Jerry Falwell Jr, is allowing students to return to campus.

Falwell's decision to bring students back to campus flies against the guidance provided by state officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued a statewide order Monday to help slow down the spread of coronavirus. The order bans gatherings of more than 10 people and goes into effect just before midnight on Tuesday.

Makes sense to him. He called Corona fake news and away of impeaching the President.

Is this a bad idea or the worst idea of all-time?

I'm sure Jesus will keep them all safe. And if he doesn't they can probably buy some Trump wine and annoint their bodies and it will cure them. Either way, 1 of their 2 saviors I'm sure will be on top of this.

Falwell must be serving up the same Kool-Aid that Donald is serving. I hope he drinks some of it himself and ends up without a ventilator.

He's a fool putting peoples lives in danger. Deplorable. I am afraid we are going to see much more of this in the near future. It will ruin any chance the US gets a handle on this.

Good for them. They know the risk of getting sick is minimal and the risk of dying is even smaller. Let everyone else go crazy, they are still free to act responsibly even if the rest of the world does not.

Right there, you don't understand the issue. It's not that the students will be getting sick or dying, but that they will pass off the virus to their parents or grandparents. The reason why we're all on lockdown is because we don't want to pass the virus onto the most vulnerable in our society. That's why it is so idiotic and fundamentally ignorant.

Good once they are on campus make it so they can’t leave. Problem solved.

Expect a lot more of this in the next week.

He has a better grasp than you do. Having a majority of the population recovered from the disease is the way you finally end the threat. The term herd immunity is in the news today, but it's an old concept.

So the people who follow the President's task force guidelines are going crazy and those not following guidelines are acting responsibly.

Now is not a good time to quit supporting the President.

Too sensible.

If Trump weren't literally Hitler, Falwell would be.

:2mad:

Dude.

Building herd immunity without a vaccine means 70% or more of the population has to become infected, and develop antibodies.

That means at a minimum, 230 million Americans need to get infected before herd immunity starts to kick in. At a 1% mortality rate, that's 2.3 million deaths.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it's better for y'all to sit on your couch, than allow over 2 million people to die.

I am afraid all you did with this reply was show that you do not have a grasp of the issue. It is understood that 40% to 80% of Americans will either contract or catch Covid-19. We are trying to avoid overwhelming the healthcare system. If that happens, everyone who requires hospitalization, for any reason, will be at risk. Choices will have to be made about who can be treated. This has happened in Italy, the goal is to avoid it happening in the U.S. I fear it may be too late though. The best action is early action and the U.S. already missed that boat.

Oh, don't worry, the young invincible deplorables will die too when the local hospitals run out of beds and ventilators.

Correct. The level of ignorance among these people are staggering. Unless these kids are going to trapped in their dorm rooms, this is only going to hurt us all.

Fine, if they lock the gates from the outside once they are all back in. They can pray the virus away......

So all you got is to cynically mock a church school.

In my opinion the entire shut down the country is a waste of time anyway. If you can't relentless enforce it there is no point.

Utter idiocy. 1% mortality rate is for those who actually come down with the disease. Not for everyone infected. Most people who are infected do not develop the disease.

It only works when there a vaccine, otherwise deaths go through the roof. As the UK found out last week when that very policy was suddenly reversed!

People say that Trump should listen to his medical professionals. They are the ones suggesting this course of action.

As you say, the best action is early and the US nailed that one. It's now over two months in and deaths are still below 10,000.

A vaccine would be helpful, but that you really need is a survivable group and an effective treatment program. This virus is unusual in that it has such a well defined high risk group.

Did Jerry Falwell, Jr. clear this with his poolboy or did his wife?

Correct. The level of ignorance among these people are staggering. Unless these kids are going to trapped in their dorm rooms, this is only going to hurt us all.

Ironic.
