If Hillary Clinton had won...

December and January were the crucial time to start preparing for the Chinese Flu. So why were the Democrats using those crucial months to essentially try to decapitate the executive branch? Trump had to spend all his energy to defend himself.

If hindsight is 20/20 then try taking a look at what your tribe coulda, shoulda, woulda done.

Voters had a chance to pick someone else. They failed. Then the Senate had the chance to get rid of him. They failed too. As a result, the least competent man ever imagined is in charge during a crisis of epic proportion. Does anyone out there honestly believe Trump is the right man for the job? Seriously.

Today, we all suffer the consequence of the nation's insanity, living a reality which would have been far different had Hillary Clinton won the election in 2016.

We'd have had qualified adults in charge of critical government functions, not just trump lackeys and corporate raiders.

Using a stupid term like "WonderWitch" proves you weren't serious anyway. So, dismissed you were.
Actually, that was one of the nicest things someone could say about her. Lick your wounds and cut out the nonsense, please.

Trump is the greatest president this country has ever had or will have.

...to expose the hypocrisy of the Right and the fraud which is Evangelical Christianity.

I agree with this, though in fairness, like or her not, Hillary is easily a vastly more competent politician and dear I say "leader", than some bumbling Reality T.V. Star. Seriously, Trump had zero qualifications for the job Republicans gave him, and it shows. And had Hillary been president now, the same Fox News pundits would be bashing her every move no matter what, and would have almost immediately dubbed it the "Clinton Virus". And Trump would have been on twitter fanning the flames the entire time, as he did during the Obama presidency.
I felt she was a much weaker candidate, than she would have been in office. She had the experience, the capacity to make a deal, and she knew how to listen to experts and she was a workhorse. She was never one to inspire others, but at least she was competent and dedicated. I think she would have done just fine and remember the First Gentleman knew a thing or two about moving the levers of government and getting a consensus around a bill. What can Ivanka give to the effort?

She was a much stronger candidate in 2008, that's for sure.

2008 Hillary Clinton would have wiped the floor with Trump, easily. Don't know what happened to her 8 years later.

She wasn't battle hardened. Neither was her campaign. You really get something of value in the testing and vetting of a strenuous primary contest, that you do not if you are coronated. Sanders for all the talk, never really had a chance in 2016, and everyone knew it. She was allowed to coast and it became a habit.

Agreed. I figured after the brutal 2008 primary where she narrowly lost to Obama, that she felt it was "her turn" in 2016. And when Trump become the frontrunner, and then nominee, she like everyone else (Trump included) thought that idiot had no chance in the general. She let Trump out campaign her, and paid the price for it.

No wonder the Tweeter in Chief is screaming, "Fake News!"

Exclusive: U.S. axed CDC expert job in China months before virus outbreak

Several months before the coronavirus pandemic began, the Trump administration eliminated a key American public health position in Beijing intended to help detect disease outbreaks in China, Reuters has learned.

His ass is toast if enough people figure out he is the reason we are all on the verge of collapse.

"Gotta keep my stupid followers ignorant. I know what will work. Fake News!!!!"

“It was heartbreaking to watch,” said Bao-Ping Zhu, a Chinese American who served in that role, which was funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between 2007 and 2011. “If someone had been there, public health officials and governments across the world could have moved much faster.”

Well, thanks MAGAts.

I have yet to see one person mention something that any other POTUS could/would have done to prevent this. Do you think any POTUS would have closed the borders entirely, in January, to the world? Do you think any POTUS would have been able to get a trillion dollar package without cases in the US? I get it, partisan politics n all, but jesus.

So, putting in place active measures would have been no more effective than ignoring the problem, denying it and playing golf. Is that your position?

A powerful piece, but a republican:

It was precisely because we were afraid of how Trump would mishandle his weighty responsibilities that some “Never Trump” conservatives supported Clinton in 2016. On May 8, 2016, I wrote in the Los Angeles Times: “There has never been a major party nominee in U.S. history as unqualified for the presidency. The risk of Trump winning, however remote, represents the biggest national security threat that the United States faces today.”

I don't know how many comments I've made precisely to that point. Trump represents not only the biggest threat to the national security of the United States, he represents a threat to the health of our citizens.

I hope republicans are happy with the made-in-hell Faustian bargain they've made by electing Trump.

The majority of Americans are not.

If there ever were a reason to tie the electoral college to the popular vote, Trump is it.

Trump is it.

Again, what "active measures" do you think anyone would have done, specifically?

Already answered.

Not downplaying the severity of this, not calling it a hoax, listening to the CDC and health professionals would have been a great start. We had almost two months out of the gate to prepare but Trump was too busy worrying about his re-election chances dropping that he didn't act on this quicker. Trump and the MAGAts are the biggest threat to this nation.

What.does.that.mean.

If the POTUS came out and said this is an existential threat to humanity on day#1 what changes? Not a damned thing. The economy is still open, the cases still spread globally, etc. Maybe it advances therapy research a few weeks so instead of 60 weeks out it is 58 weeks out. Is that the grand salvation we are talking about?

Meanwhile, look at the Democrats roll in this gem. When 3M asked for a liability waiver a month ago in order to ramp up PPE production, who shut that down? The democrats. That cost you three weeks of ramping up PPE production because democrats wanted to make sure you could sue a Fortune500 company if their masks, which are not designed for healthcare use, don't work for healthcare use.

when the president downplays it and calls it a hoax, the rest of his Trump bots do the same. Measures could have been implemented EARLIER which would have Delayed the spread significantly.

More lies, Single use N95 respirators are already on the FDA-approved list and they did NOT need the extra protection. Got any more lies to tell?

Good one.

For the third time, what "measures" are you talking about. You see, when someone asks for specifics, they are not asking for general terms like "measures" but an actual course of action or series of steps. If I ask someone about the specifics about how to best respond to a car problem, and they say "fix the car", it isn't really a detailed plan of action now is it?

I've been accused of being a 'Trump hater', and having blind hate for him, but it's not true... the blind part, but I say imagine the hate that drives someone, at this late date, to blindly support this obviously corrupt, obviously narcissistic, nincompoop. I can think of a form of hate that would drive someone to do this, can you?
