The coronavirus is the most foreseeable disaster in history — and so is President Trump’s inability to rise to the occasion...“The system was blinking red,” one official said.

But Trump wasn’t paying attention...Because of Trump’s negligence, the United States lost two months of response time

...

It took no foresight to predict that Trump would be a catastrophe in a crisis. It was close to the conventional wisdom. Yet nearly 63 million voters chose to disregard such warnings.

There were many reasons Trump won. Ironically, one of the most oft-cited was the desire to blow everything up, because Trump voters were convinced that things couldn’t get any worse than they were in 2016. As they shelter in their homes and the economy grinds to a halt, I wonder if perhaps they now realize how good they had it under President Barack Obama?

Voters had a chance to pick someone else. They failed. Then the Senate had the chance to get rid of him. They failed too. As a result, the least competent man ever imagined is in charge during a crisis of epic proportion. Does anyone out there honestly believe Trump is the right man for the job? Seriously.

Today, we all suffer the consequence of the nation's insanity, living a reality which would have been far different had Hillary Clinton won the election in 2016.

...we'd all be dead from World War III.

A reality TV star botched the response to a global pandemic and now we are all imprisoned in our homes and forced to watch him daily.

Friedman

What would you name this **** show?

Lost, the Trump Years

Fart of the Deal

Always the Apprentice, Never an Expert

A Virus Among Us

What Not To Say on TV

A Man so Dumb, He Makes Pence Look Smart

Or, my favorite:

Bend Over and Kiss Your Country Goodbye

Morbid curiosity, what does anyone think any POTUS could have done here? This country isn't China that has the legal authority to lock down huge segments of the population. This country isn't the city-state of Singapore that can simply close the 3 main bridges and airport. The reality is that this virus, just like the regular ole flu, is going to permeate every corner of the globe whether you like it or not. Shutting down the world will slow it down, but it won't stop it and that is really it. I am legitimately wondering what you think Clinton would have done differently?

What would WonderWitch have done so differently and how would it have turned out so much better than the entire rest of the world?

Put a real team of experts in charge back in January

Immediately let us know the urgency not played golf and pretended all was well

Make sure FEMA was stocked with masks

Start up early production of ventilators

Not ramble endlessly spewing shear nonsense on TV

...to name a few things.

The wife and I are taking turns for the next few weeks delivering food and other necessities to area seniors.

What has calamity done to help his fellow man during this pandemic.

Hint: Playing the court jester on a debate forum doesn't count, so play fair.

I'm keeping the wheels in motion. It may be fruitless, but until shutdown, we are doing our best to keep money flowing and jobs alive. Remember, unless you are lucky enough to be retired, most working Americans lose their insurance the minute they lose their jobs.

But, I am glad to see you putting your spare time to good use.

Its okay, there really was no right answer anyway. I don't blame you for dodging

Using a stupid term like "WonderWitch" proves you weren't serious anyway. So, dismissed you were.

I'm not so sure Hillary would've done anything differently.

You're shutting the government down when you fight an epidemic. People stay home, businesses shut down.

When do you shut the economy down? It's a huge decision.

The Max Boot (not a liberal by any stretch) piece in the op lays out exactly what Trump did wrong. I do not see Hillary doing any of that. Neither does Max, obviously.

Best wishes to your fellow associates!

WaPo won't let me read their garbage, but overall I'm not putting much credibility in "one official".

Blaming a US president for a virus that originated in China is a bit of a stretch. But overall, we've done pretty well.

The virus is here. Probably been so for a while. Our death count is among the lowest of the affected nations. If past history is any indication, this virus will disappear in a few days or weeks, to be replaced in a few months by next winter's kill us all virus.

Our incidence rate is skyrocketing, and soon we will be the most infected nation on the planet.

Maybe you should start reading things like WaPo. Obviously whatever you have been reading is pumping you full of false information.

The problem with your post is you have no way to know for sure how Hilary or anyone else would have done in this crisis. What you present is speculative opinion. Hindsight is always 20/20.

If Clinton had won, remember the Republicans still controlled the House of Representatives. In 2018 as is the historical norm, the GOP would have gained seats in both the house and the senate. Clinton would have been impeached over her having classified e-mails on her unclassified, non-secure server along with other charges. Although like Trump, she would have been acquitted in a straight line party vote in the senate. She, like Obama in his last six years would have to use executive orders to get anything done as the GOP would have opposed her in everything she wanted.

Her approval would be almost exactly like Trump's. Remember Hillary had a 56% unfavorable rating with 70% of independents disliking her. That is the reason they went for Trump. Whether or not she could have handled the Corona Virus situation better or not, that is left to speculation.

Neither Hillary Clinton nor Trump was liked or wanted by America as a whole to be their next president. This one must not forget.

In plain English, no meaningful legislation whatsoever.

Thanks. We have several active projects which keep dozens of people busy. And, our sales staff just brought in several potential jobs aimed at repatriation of certain production processes. Obviously, many American companies are now leery of sending teams offshore to launch new projects. We hope this all settles down soon so we can make the most of these new opportunities.

The Big Three American auto companies are shutting down production until the end of the month. Honda just followed suit, keeping on the exempt employees on staff. Ford, GM and Chrysler say the shutdown is being implemented to meet union and employee demands. Honda is saying it is due to lack of available parts.

I can't imagine what will happen to the country if this continues. Already millions in the food and service industry are going without paychecks. I saw a Waffle House closed the other day--never saw that before--and I immediately thought of all the workers who are already on the margins now being out of their jobs. Not good.

It's not hard to know Hillary would have done things 100% opposite of what Trump did. After all, Hillary doesn't golf.

Your source is just an opinion piece, we have no evidence... only assumption and obvious hit piece opinion journalism... that things would be better with Hillary in charge.

What we do know from Hillary is she is just as much about government secrecy as anyone else, is herself aristocratic and self serving, and she has a callous disregard for just about everyone when things go sideways for her politically no matter the implication.

sarcasm on/
Maybe she would handle it like Benghazi. That worked out well
sarcasm off/

So you are saying she would have years ago would have stockpiled billions of mask and gown, hundred of thousand of ventilators, build more hospitals, etc.
All of this based on a what might happen. I doubt she would have done much different till it was too late.

"I" think he could have kept his mouth shut, sought out good advice and used the bully pulpit of the Presidency to put forth that information.

Instead he tried to minimize the very real threat Corona is for the purpose of not hurting "his numbers". Early on, to the president, The Corona Virus' biggest threat was to his reelection; his response was geared to protect his poll numbers, reelection campaign and his own self opinion. He couldn't have given a small **** about the threat is was to our Nation.

What could he have done? He could have CARED about AmeriCANs and OUR Country FIRST and FOREMOST; not Little Donnieee me me me
