The Left wing media. Notice anything different?
Trump is responsible for downplaying this virus creating a monster of an epidemic in this country, but it's Fox News that's the real culprit. If Fox News didn't continue to bolster up Trump's plan to play this down, more people would be better informed and there would be less spreading of this virus.
I have heard some really ghastly things about this specific strain of corona. One medical expert said its found to get into the interstitial spaces in the lungs with a material that's almost 'glass-like' was his description. Others have said that on x-ray it looks like diffused gray, circular areas, somewhat 'cloud-like' in appearance. It doesn't look like anything that anyone has ever seen in their medical careers. The most stunning thing about 'novel-coronavirus' is its aggressiveness and ease of transmission.
One week ago the U.S. reported 60 deaths from coronavirus and today, just one week later that number 323 deaths. If the spread of this virus continues on the upward trend, those numbers will double themselves weekly. If it's 646 next week then in 8 weeks we could be looking at a death toll of around 160,000 dead in 8 weeks.
You're absolutely right. If Trump had simply locked down the nation back in early January, demanded that everyone stay at home and appointed a national pandemic task force lead by Sanjay Gupta the whole of the nation would be celebrating him as a hero today. There is no way they would have every said anything like "Trump is only doing this to kill off the Democrat primaries!" or "Trump is doing this because he's going to refuse to leave office once we beat him in November" or "Trump hates the Constitution and is planning to lock us all in internment camps". No way any of that would have happened.

The President has stated that he knew all along that this was going to be a pandemic. So if we are to take him at his word then why in February did he not convene a task force to start work on what potential barriers there would be to providing medical care, or alert private industry that there is a high potential for accelerated use of supplies and to start a stockpile, or start a coordination effort with States and localities to have in place standards and uniform practices for dealing with the infection, or beginning the mobilization of resources to be able to arrive at hot spots as quickly as possible.
Things like that would be a no brainer to someone who knew all along that it was going to be a pandemic and had the power and authority to do something about it.
Wouldn't we all agree on that?
Let me ask you a question...do you believe that Trump had knowledge about this pandemic, knew how it would spread, was advised by experts about the potential for global devastation and then sat on that information for his own purposes? Do you believe that all those people who advised him and ALSO knew about what we'd bee experiencing today also kept their mouths shut to please Trump? Do you believe that none of the senators in the Democrat debates had any idea that this was a possibility? Do you believe that nobody in the media knew that this would be a possibility? Do you really believe that this whole thing stems from Trump and Trump alone? How many freaking Democratic debates did we have between January 1st and February 19th? How many questions were askd of the candidates about this virus and how they would deal with it?
This whole "It's all Trump's fault all day long and anybody else would have been a million times better" is just plain crap.
The President stated himself with his own words that he always knew that this was going to be a pandemic. Should we take him at his word?
I do not blame the President for the existence of the virus, but I do ask that if he knew all along that it was going to be a pandemic... something that he said... then why did he sit on his hands when someone who always knew would have been preparing for the coming pandemic?
There were a ton of things that he could have been doing to make the response less confusing and quicker than it was.
After all.... he always knew it was going to be a pandemic.
OK. So you DO believe that he, everyone that advised him on this and the global medical community that was feeding everyone the data as it came in, all intentionally hid the nature of this virus from the rest of us because they wanted as many millions of people as possible to die. Well, we've all got to believe in something, I guess. It's just too bad that we didn't have a Democrat inn office because that would have fixed everything, right?

I believe the President when he says that he always thought this was going to be a pandemic.
My question is why did he not start the mobilization of any effort back in February if this was his belief?

Trump DID start his response back in January!
This is the leadership you want?
He closed the border to China.
Great.
But since he knew it was going to be a pandemic and come to our shores no matter what, why didn't he take anymore action after that?
He knew it was going to be a pandemic after all.
Maybe because we've had all kinds of other viruses come across and we dealt with them without destroying our economy. Maybe he was basing this on historical precedent rather than political propaganda and a media industry that would rather destroy the nation than see him elected to a second term.
Maybe he was doing that, but once again, the President said that he knew this was going to be a pandemic. I am not putting words into his mouth.
Generally a pandemic means pretty bad things. Especially when it is a new virus.
Even if he wanted to keep the public face that this was not going to be a big deal in order not to instill fear and panic, why weren't even the most basic planning stages started for a pandemic that he knew was coming?
Y'know what I'm getting out of this conversation? I'm getting that you're really more concerned with Trump than you are the virus.
I am concerned about the effects of the virus as far as morbidity and mortality. I am also concerned about the effects on the economy. For myself I have been laid off from work with no idea of when I will be making income again.
What I don't understand is why people are willing to give this President a pass on failing to plan for a massive event that he knew was coming.
I don't think that such courtesy would be extended to other administrations.
What government DID plan for this? Your blaming Trump for failing at something NOBODY succeeded at. In case you're not clear on the situation, this thing is worldwide NOT ONE government has stopped it. China didn't stop it. South Korea didn't stop it. Japan didn't stop it. The UK didn't stop it. France didn't stop it. Italy didn't stop it.
Actually, I'm lying. North Korea stopped it. Maybe theirs is the model we should follow to protect ourselves.
Are we grading our own President on a curve now? Everyone else failed, so we shouldn't criticize our own government failing?
That makes very little sense.
Especially when the President says he knew all along it would be a pandemic.
I don't know why people are so willing to let him get a participation ribbon over this one.
No, we're not grading on a curve. Grading on a curve would mean that every nation was evaluated on their response and then we adjusted the grade based on where the median fell. In this case you're grading Trump and Trump alone while ignoring everyone else. When you're the only one being graded then, inevitably, you will end up with both the best and worst score.
The President of the United States is the only Executive that I have a direct voice in electing.
So if Italy or Spain does poorly at preparing for the fallout of a pandemic that doesn’t mean that the Untied States has to follow down the same path. Especially when the President said that he knew all along that it was going to be a pandemic.
If he knew all along, why did he sit on his hands for over a month after the travel ban and why are people excusing that?
He knew. He says so.
Why didn’t he prepare?
