Don't give him that credit. Its not anymore inherently dangerous than repeatedly kicking yourself in the balls for the entertainment of others is and in this case its only really dangerous to himself and his progeny. That's pretty much a win win for society.

Of all of the stupid posts, this has to be the worst. Even Fox News has realized the stupidity of their original stance and still there are people out there that think this is a political problem instead of a medical one. I truly pray none of yours get this and die from it because they listen to you.

This is a great question.

I have never been a fan of Trump, but was on the verge of finding some respect for him when this thing initially hit. He took the right initial stance, but unfortunately, he lacked the leadership qualities to inspire anyone outside of his base. His entire life is built around being divisive, so it’s simply a natural consequence.

His buckling under the pressure of irrational fear, while disappointing, is to be expected from a populist progressive.

I suspect he’s got a plan, and I fully expect him to take some kind of drastic “Murica-first” action before the election. He is a progressive after all. He understands the power of fear.

This is the problem with lying. Trumpers can't admit that Trump lies, so when he backtracks them, it short circuits their brains. They're caught between contradictory truths. Many are going with the original truth because they've heard it the longest and it's the most familiar.

Unfortunately, if he didn’t go along to some extent it would have meant even more panic as the media would have portrayed it as “Trump turns against test of the world!”.

The Democrats don't control the CDC- which contradicted tRump from the start.

The Democrats don't control the major corporations who have reacted very strongly to the virus.

The Democrats don't control my state which has bans from state to rural county.

tRump does what tRump does, lets his farty gut walk him into stupid positions where he has two choices- double down or retreat. With his smoke and mirror administration falling apart he retreats so he can blame the virus for the collapse of his fantasy he tries to sell us daily... :doh

Trade wars are easy- Mexico will pay for the wall- Nato isn't our friend- mine is the biggest bestest, never before in our history... and a bunch of other poppycock... :peace
 
Technically it IS the flu. But that’s pretty much the same thing as saying that the meteor that just took out your hometown is just a rock.

The fatality rate seems to be somewhere between 5 and 10x the seasonal flu.

And more to the point the issue isn’t even that. Odds are very good that if you aren’t old or already sick it probably won’t be a big deal if you get it. But it WILL be a big deal for enough people that it threatens the stability of the healthcare system which means that some people are likely gonna die who shouldn’t because we don’t have doctors or equipment to help them.

That is a big deal.

Influenza is an entirely different phylum of virus from the coronaviruses.

I’m not a doctor and though my daughter is a microbiologist I don’t understand half of what she says so I’ll take your word for it. Though the family of Coronaviruses also was responsible for flu.

No. The influenza family of viruses is responsible for the flu.

The coronavirus family is responsible for some instances of the common cold, as well as SARS, MERS, and a number of other illnesses. But not the flu.
