This is interesting.

The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee warned a small group of well-connected constituents three weeks ago to prepare for dire economic and societal effects of the coronavirus, according to a secret recording obtained by NPR.

The remarks from U.S. Sen. Richard Burr were more stark than any he had delivered in more public forums.

On Feb. 27, when the United States had 15 confirmed cases of COVID-19, President Trump was tamping down fears and suggesting the virus could be seasonal.

On that same day...

"There's one thing that I can tell you about this: It is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything that we have seen in recent history," he said, according to a secret recording of the remarks obtained by NPR. "It is probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic."

That's too generous. When it was 40 and Trump was claiming it was 15, he said it was going down and would be 0 soon. He said 8 were fine, 6 were okay and 1 was getting out of the hospital and then there would be none.

We know about it because it was reported in a news story. News is kinda like that substance Fox defactes into your open orifices like the journalistic equivalent of the human centipede. The only difference is real news is helpful and informative while Fox news will give you Cornovirus. Obviously, everyone familiar with the English language understands that the recording was made in secret but is no longer secret as it is being discussed openly in a public forum. Your confusion however is understandable and frankly, being a conservative as you are, there is little in terms of expectations that even this clarification will resonate with you intellectually. No worries. I never get tired of explaining the simple things to you people.

Try to figure this out: you were supposed to use "anonymous" as a smear when it referred to a person who, like Deep Throat, could not be named without jeopardizing the collection of news about the corruption of politicians like Trump. Read gain: the idea was to protect the corrupt criminal you worship. Anyone who might tell the public about his various evils would get fired. So they would all have to do it anonymously both for the reporter of criminality not to be fired, and for the news media to receive reports of criminality. So if Fox programs you to say "anonymous" and stick your head up your rear every time you hear something bad about Trump, Fox will have programmed you to insulate yourself from hearing anything but praise of that criminal lout. Its always telling when a poster skips right passed the debating to making people's arguments for them. But as I recall the news organizations certainly reported on the existence of these alegegations of Trump as a Russian agent and Kavanaugh as a drunken rapist, none of them to my knowledge reported those alegegations as facts or made up actual quotes and attributed them to those individuals. And Trump's indebtedness to various Russian institutions and individuals is pretty well documented. But if you have evidence of your claims, by all means let's see it.

My evidence is you have no evidence. Just more media blathering. If you have this secret (now public) recording you would have posted it. You don't have it, you haven't heard it, and you never will, but you will swear it exist because the media told you it did.

By the way, we are all still waiting on the Bolton information where he supposedly claimed Trumps secret conversations with Ukraine. Still haven't seen that. You know why? Because NOTHING in his book could be released until is clears intelligence. Thats how everyone (but people like you) knew the claim was fake. Just as fake as this new secret recording BS.

If the media had it, they would make it available to the public given the fact they already named everyone in it.

Burr dumped stocks during the time he was receiving behind closed door Corona Virus briefings. A week before the recording was made.
 
Burr to me is just a less public, less topical version of Susan Collins. Burr is a much more private much more secretive person but at the end of the day, as good a fence sitter as there is, just like Collins. Who knows what Collins says to her cronies.

Insider trading is not exactly a misdemeanor; ask Martha Stewart.

Burr and another republican from GA both immediately sold their stocks in hotels and other industries that they had just learned from their Intelligence Committee briefing would be seriously impacted by the pandemic. They should both be investigated, and if found that they did indeed act based upon "insider knowledge" in violation of the law, they should both resign and face criminal prosecution... along with any other congressional and administration personnel who did the same thing.
 
I posted on another political board, and this one a few times, that we were nowhere near seeing the bottom of the Republican party as it currently exists. I believe they will still go much, much lower.

What Burr did was not against the Congress writes the laws specifically to make sure they are above the laws they write.
