trump close to pardoning Michael Flynn

- Just after the election, when trump met with Obama, Obama warned trump not to hire Flynn, whom Obama had fired, saying he was unsuitable for a high level position

trump ignored him and named Flynn National Security Advisor.

- Acting Attorney General Sally Yates in the first week of the presidency learned that Flynn had met with Russians and discussed lifting sanctions, and then lied about the meetings, including to the Vice-President, and Yates told trump he was vulnerable to Russian blackmail. The message was clear Flynn needed to be removed.

trump did nothing and left Flynn as National Security Advisor.

- 18 days later, the press learned of the story, and then trump fired Flynn. He accused Yates of leaking the story, apparently only concerned he wasn't able to keep Flynn in office despite his lying about the Russian meetings.

- The day after firing Flynn, trump commits obstruction of justice, by asking James Comey privately to not pursue Flynn, "I hope you can let this go", and when Comey does not comply, several weeks later fires Comey.

Why don't you spend equal time listing all the things, illegally, that the Obama administration and former members like Comey, Holder, McCabe adn so on have done. You know the phony Collusion evidence, and shotty Mueller investigation, all that stuff. Fast and Furious. Weaponizing he IRS. Why don't you talk about those things?

"Stop talking about real crimes that Trump's friends were convicted of, and start talking about imaginary crimes that no one has been charged with, let alone convicted! Otherwise it's not fair!"

Because they're not in office; the list is far shorter; you are making a lot of false accusations; and I have.

So far all I've seen is an argumentum ad absurdum. Flynn was a political victim - the notes of his INTERVIEW with two FBI agents was doctored to create a case of lying. Even the agents conducting the interview were surprised that he was tried.
None of this is true.

What is true is this:

Michael Flynn lied to the FBI when they asked him if he had discussed sanctions with Kislyak.

We know that because the phone call was recorded, and because Flynn admitted to it under oath numerous times.

End of story.

And other things, like the Russian vote on Israeli settlements. Good question for the cult: why did trump fire Flynn, if he's so innocent? trump's position is that Flynn lied to Pence, but did not lie to the FBI on the same issues?

I wouldn't put it past him to do it to try to distract from his massive coronavirus failures. The guy's a sociopath, among other things.
Not even one of his worst traits.

I don't know how close Trump is to pardoning Flynn. I don't think any of those involved in the 2016 campaign get pardoned until the end of Trump's term just as he is getting bounced out on his butt end.

At that point, expect DonDon to pardon Flynn, Manafort, Stone, Attila the Hun, Medusa, Cyclops, Ivan the Terrible and various and sundry other creeps, charlatans, sickos and lowlifes. Flynn for his part let not getting the job he wanted while Obama was President drive him wayyyyyy off the rails and he just lost it completely while trying to catch the financial brass ring with DonDon. Became such an embarrassment that other three stars felt compelled to comment about his behavior. Manafort is a real deal scumbag of the first order. Stone is the guy that lead the storming of the Florida Election Office forcing the vote count to be stopped basically resulting in the election being handed to Bush 43 via SC ruling.

A real nice crowd you run with DonDon.

There's an old saying; 'you can judge a man's character by the company he keeps'.

As a an advisor for the President-elect, it was his job to calm tensions that were needlessly and spitefully increased by Obama, just days before he left office. A perfectly reasonable thing to do.
Wrong. It was not Flynn’s job because Trump wasn’t president at that time and Flynn wasn’t National Security Advisor.

And your assessment of Obama’s retaliation for Russia’s interference sounds like you’re good with what Putin did. Are you, comrade?

The only thing he did wrong was lie about it, which obviously was not an acceptable thing to do.
You’re conflating unacceptable with illegal/criminal. Not at all surprising coming from you.

Btw, Comey himself said it wasn't obstruction so...another thing you need to get over.
Btw, you’re wrong. Again.

*yawn* Oh...looky here. He said "comrade". Boy...I've never seen someone use that in lieu of an actual valid point in a disagreement before. Oh, ho, ho...so fresh and original.

OK...not that the required and deserved mocking is out of the way, it most definitely Flynn's job as part of the President-elect's team. There has always been actions being taken by the incoming admin before they were officially sworn into office. Reality, meet RaleBulgarian. So far as Obama's retaliation, it wasn't needed and was an overreaction to a common behavior that happens between countries. For example, the U.S. has effected change in multiple countries, or attempted change, via military force and military support with supplies and logistics.

You’re conflating unacceptable with illegal/criminal. Not at all surprising coming from you.

Those things are not mutually exclusive or inclusive.

Btw, you’re wrong. Again.

This is delicious irony. Comey himself said that in public testimony soooo....how about you just toddle along and embarrass yourself somewhere else.

First, your post was filled with snark, so you’re in no position to talk **** now.

Second, I’m well aware that transitioning/incoming staff consult with their foreign counterparts. That does not include conducting business/negotiating without authority.

Then there’s the whole lying thing, and of course, Flynn’s extracurricular activities that he did not disclose.

The stupidity is on your part. You'd be happily pleading guilty to anything and everything if Mueller's guys threatened to go after your son ... after they have financially ruined you first.

"...in a separate filing on Monday, Powell claimed that Van Grack pressured Flynn to enter his guilty plea to making false statements to the FBI and stick with that plea, by using the possibility of further prosecution of Flynn, or his son Michael Flynn Jr., as leverage.

Powell also claimed that when the government charged Flynn’s ex-associates Bijan Rafiekian and Kamil Ekim Alptekin with making false statements and illegal lobbying on behalf of the Turkish government in the U.S., Van Grack tried to force Flynn to testify against his former business associates.

“Mr. Van Grack was determined that Mr. Flynn would testify in the Rafiekian case that he had knowingly signed a false FARA registration, even though Mr. Van Grack knew that was not true and Mr. Flynn had not agreed to that in the course of his plea agreement,” Powell wrote in the filing.

“Mr. Flynn’s refusal to get on the witness stand and lie for the government on that point prompted a heated tirade from Mr. Van Grack with Mr. Flynn’s lead counsel, in which Mr. Van Grack claimed Mr. Flynn had agreed to plead to a knowing and intentional false FARA filing.”

Powell went on to claim that after Flynn rejected the government’s “demand to lie,” they “retaliated” with a gag order, and threatened to bring Flynn’s son, Michael Flynn Jr., in as a witness in the Rafiekian trial. The filing said the government told Flynn’s counsel that it would indict the FARA case, and had “obtained authorization to target Michael Flynn Jr.—who had a newborn—and had seized all his electronic devices.” ..."

I doubt very much his lawyer would file this with a court if she didn't have evidence/witnesses to back up her claims.

Did I read that correctly?

They threatened his son with a subpoena?

Is that supposed to be really dramatic and scary?

happily pleading guilty

So you acknowledge that Flynn happily plead guilty. Case closed. Don't post again, it's that easy.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

So now it is reported that, after destroying his life & the life of his wonderful family (and many others also), the FBI, working in conjunction with the Justice Department, has “lost” the records of General Michael Flynn. How convenient. I am strongly considering a Full Pardon!

I'm not at all surprised that the FBI would say the above; bolded.
