That the word "may" still has to be used amazes me. But, much of what has happened over the past 3.5 years has amazed me. I never would have guessed the US would turn third-world. And, I never expected conservatism to so rapidly turn into a populist movement run by a demagogue. But, both happened in record time. So, I guess, "may" is all we can expect here. Because, in a personality cult, even gross incompetence is acceptable.

Trump’s forte has never been actually solving problem or providing quality; he excels at spin, exaggeration and shameless lying. Naturally, then, his response to a burgeoning health crisis and an economic earthquake is to muzzle those who might undercut his happy talk.

The Times reported: “The White House moved on Thursday to tighten control of coronavirus messaging by government health officials and scientists, directing them to coordinate all statements and public appearance with the office of Vice President Mike Pence, according to several officials familiar with the new approach.” The White House insists “the goal is not to control the content of what subject-matter experts and other officials are saying, but to make sure their efforts are being coordinated, after days of confusion with various administration officials showing up on television.” Nevertheless, you do get alarmed when “Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, one of the country’s leading experts on viruses and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told associates that the White House had instructed him not to say anything else without clearance.”

BTW, the lies are no longer working...at least not on the markets. We saw the Dow open this AM, drop a 1000 points, rebound ever so slightly, as it moved toward the black, right before the bottom dropped out again and it fell back down to 600 points below last night's close. And, it's only noon.

How many Trump-haters do you expect to attract to this blog with your alarmist words?
Do you expect the Administration to fail at everything it tries?
You're blaming Trump for the virus as well as the stock market tumble?

He is certainly to blame for lying and misleading everyone so that we have no idea what to believe, other than not to believe what Trump says....ever.

Hey, what's a few million deaths if it can get rid of Trump, right? I wonder what the cut-off number is. 5 million? 10? More? And these people want us to give them power.

There's a reason that the MSM is getting hysterical about the virus. They see what's happening in the market and think this can help them further damage Trump. So, if hysteria = falling markets and falling markets = bad for Trump, then they're all for hysteria.
 
It is painfully obvious that this virus could well be Trumps Katrina disaster. So far the administration looks really bad. The night Trump goes one nationwide TV to reassure a scared nation is immediately followed by a early 1200 point drop in the Dow.

The poor attempt to silence any news other than good happy talk is pathetic and could well bite Trump in his must obvious fat deposit.

This is not wishing bad on the country or cheering for the virus. It is merely observing what is reality.

If anyone disagrees and thinks Trump is competent, they are free to post exactly how competently he has run his administration and explain his revolving door of employees.

The markets are falling because business is highly dependent on China and, to a lesser degree, Europe, for goods and materials. If they can't get them due to the virus spreading, then they're businesses will suffer. That is what is driving the sell off on Wall St. It is not happening because of anything Trump has done or not done.

Acceptable? It's prerequisite. The cult is grossly incompetent. That's what they need validated. They need to be victims and believe they're actually the smart people being persecuted. They believe they're the intellectuals, always the first to lose their heads to a tyrannical regime. You’re lack of admission doesn’t mean it isn’t obvious. Your main concern (or hope) about the virus is that it hurts Trump, not a hope that Trump is actually right about it not being the end of the world.
