Can someone explain?

By attacking Trump loyalist we just make it easier for them to hate us. Our presumed hate is by far Trumps biggest hold on his base. The more that we attack them the more solidarity that they feel with Trump. In fact that makes you a Trump enabler. Again just playing into Putins hand. Attack after attack leads to more and more divisiveness. To the point where both sides start to believe there is no possible way to reconcile our differences, and worse it leads to our sense of community to be replaced with the wants of those in power (including the wants of our foreign enemies). Your willingness to call other Americans "evil" is a conduit for Putins goals.

Im not saying that we have to accept Trumps ideologies nor that of his loyalists. We should never do that. Just that our efforts should involve attacking the ideologies, not the persons. I do not like what you are doing as opposed to I do not like you. No one responds well to be told that you do not like them. Humans are stubborn and will vote for the Trumps of the world just to spite you for your attitude. Just look at where we are today.

Calling your position progressive and everyone elses regressive is conflict. It mirrors religions who define themselves the moral standard. You will only gain push back with that position. Like it or not Progressivism in American Politics created Trumpism. Its the end result of marginalizing almost half the country. It does not make Trumpism ok, but further engaging in the same speech and actions that led us here will only make things much worse.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with some of you assessments. Progressivism didn't create trump the republican party created trump. To me it started when reagan told his base the government isn't the solution to your problems the government is your problem. The government is like a gun, it just sits there doing nothing until a person decides to do something. It's the people who run the government who have consistently over the decades decided what the government is going to do. The republicans decided to go down the road of demonizing the other side starting with reagan who turned it into an art form. They demonized taxes, they demonize any effort to change capitalism into a more equitable system. They choose business and the wealthy over the common person.

Life is full of conflict and republicans are regressive. You do what you wish to avoid conflict and I'll be happy to face it head on.

Was MLK not facing racism head on? Did you not read and understand the quote that I gave you? And take a look in the mirror the republican party is not the only one demonizing people. Its the nature of political parties to turn neighbors against each other. But seriously what are you going to do with the republicans if progressives gain all the power? You are sounding like the other side of the same coin.

Do with the republicans? Nothing. I'm not out to screw the republicans. I'm out to change who is in the white house.

I'm also pretty sure you've noticed that in 2020 prejudice is alive and well in america. You don't seem to understand one party is for moving the country forward and putting the citizens first and the other supports the super wealthy and corporate america. Two hundred times some form of the equal rights amendment was voted down. Two hundred. Does that sound like reasonable people to you? Asking people in power to change their ways doesn't work. You have to vote them out.

From my point of view "voting them out" will only replace them with someone else who will need voted out. That is the nature of our un-Costitutional two party system. When one party is in power everyone else is disenfranchised, when two parties are in power everyone else is still disenfranchised.

Both sides believe that the other side is unreasonable. And I tend to agree with them both. Ether way half the nation is not just going to disappear because one side got voted out. I agree that Trump must go, that is a must, but lets not assume that DP/the internet is actually representative of all Republicans. While I agree that the Republican silence and the parties public support of corrupt President makes that party accomplices, and certainly they should face our backlash at the polls. But to label every single Republican voter unreasonable will only lead us closer to the end of this republic. If that is our future then the fault will at the feet of both parties, not just one.
