Town Hall with Michael Bloomberg

That's what the Bernie supporters don't seem to get. For the Senate to get enough votes to pass it, you have to have some traditionally red states represented by Democrats, and those Democrats will have to be very moderate to stand a chance of getting elected in those states, and thus they aren't going to vote for it.

The Bernie supporters are comprised in large part of people that are 30 years old and younger. They hear what sounds good to them like free college and free health care and think "oh yeah, we need that, and we want that." but they don't extrapolate any further than that. They don't consider what the cost will be and how it would be paid for, nor do they see a divided congress that's going to say 'no way' to Bernie's plan. People in the older age ranges, 40 - 60 are more forward thinking, less impulsive and more pragmatic. This is why I can't see Bernie being elected and double the odds of him losing once Russia begins the disinformation campaign against him.

Think about life under a second term for Trump if a Bernie candidacy gives him a landslide win for his reelection, a majority in the senate, the Republicans taking back the House, and the Republicans picking up down ballot races across the country. Think about what that will be like.

We are faced with the same choices we had in 2016, which is the worst of 2 evils but the reality is that not only is Trump the worst of the evils but Bloomberg is nowhere near as bad as Hillary. I keep mentioning the fact that Bloomberg has been one of the top 10 philanthropists on 10 straight years and you are not a philanthropist if you don't actually care about others. As such, the choice is the devil (Trump) or an intelligent and competent spoiled brat.

Or you're donating for tax deductions. Billionaires are inherently not good people. Especially one who was close friends with a literal child sex slave human trafficker.

I've tried very hard not to imagine that. But think about this... If Bernie pulls out a miracle and wins, Trump will protest it of course and may even make an argument that he doesn't have to relinquish his power because the election was 'fixed, crooked and illegal'. His republican senators will pass any new bill giving him authority to remain in the White House until 'a thorough investigation has been completed'. In other words, never. And if in four years, when they finish with the investigation, they will have a report put out by William Barr that yes, it was an illegal and rigged election. :doh

No, he has given over $10 billion dollars. How much as Trump given?

In listening to Michael Bloomberg at the CNN town hall that is happening as I write this, I am 100% convinced that not only would he be a good President but is the most capable of beating Donald Trump.

Everything that Trump is good at, Bloomberg is better and everything that Michael Bloomberg is accused of having done, Trump has been accused of doing worse.

I don't see anyone at this time that would be better than Bloomberg to be president other than perhaps Steyer but even then, in some respects Bloomberg would probably be better. That is not to say he is the best possible person but of what is available, there is no one better. There is no doubt in my mind that if nominated, he would beat Trump.

1) better businessman
2) better manager
3) better for the economy
4) better to address gender and color injustice
5) more philanthropic

Agree

Which ironically, makes him also extremely unqualified to be the President. One is a racist sexual predator who was a well-known associate of infamous pedophile and human trafficker, Jeffery Epstein. The other is also that, but a 140 pounds lighter, and a couple feet shorter.

Trump is putting Hispanic children in cages. The other wants to give everyone healthcare so they don't die or go bankrupt. Horseshoe theory once again fails.

Bernie Sanders paid off a sexual harassment accusation - and was accused of sexism by his 2016 female staff members.

Neither of them would have denied 6 million Dreamers a path to US citizenship like Bernie Sanders voted.

Neither of then fled racially and ethically diverse communities to flee to an all-white town to put his kid into a whites-only school.

Neither of them joined the Socialist Worker's Party.

Neither of them said "liberalism is futile" as to why he became a socialist, not a Democrat.

Neither of them is a racial segregationist who said if white and black children are together it will cause racial disharmony - as all racial segregationists all say.

Neither of them praised and made excuses for Fidel Castro like Bernie Sanders now has been doing for over half a century.

Neither of them voted against gun control legislation.

Neither of them are married to a wife who stole EVERYTHING of a college - putting it into bankruptcy - on loans on false loan application - to give the money to Bernie's kid.

Is that a record? I have seen Trump implode 50 times in a row and no Republican paid attention to it.

It's usually a campaign killer. Sure, Bloomberg can keep throwing money at it but I think his ship is sinking.

That said, I'm not a Democrat so I won't be voting in your polls. As it stands, there is no Democrat I'd be voting for this November. There's always a chance I can be persuaded, but it won't be until after the convention at best.

I don't like Lizzie Warren at all, but props to her for getting in her Bloomberg digs, but being the opportunist she is, I think she might be vying for Sander's veep and was doing the deed.

Yup. She's sucking up to Sanders.

Bloomberg nomination = The death of the Democrat Party

Bernie nomination = Keeps the party on life support in critical condition

In that scenario, that is the only advantage to having Bernie as our nominee. Reason being is that his supporters are even more rabid than Trump supporters, they would take to the streets and shut this country down.

What about the people ages 30-40?

I don't agree.

The one thing that Democrats are 100% united on is that Trump has to go. They cannot stop the nomination process and therefore if Sanders wins the 1991 votes needed to automatically be the nominee, then nothing can be done. Nonetheless, I am pretty sure that no one will get the 1991 votes needed and when the delegates get together to decide who has the best chance to beat Trump, Bloomberg will stand out miles above the rest.

At that time, popularity of Bloomberg will not be the decider. The delegates will intelligently decide on Bloomberg as he is the best chance of getting rid of Trump. After they beat Trump, they can decide on the next election in 2024 whether to back Bloomberg or not, depending on his track record with Democratic values and goals and if he met them or didn't.

This election is about survival of the party and when that is what is important, people will put their "desires" in storage and vote for the medicine that is needed and that is Bloomberg. He is bitter medicine but it will prevent death and give real hope for health in the future. Any intelligent person can see that.

Anyhow, that is how I would do it.

Time will tell. I have money bet that you are wrong. :)

So what? He is still better than the other option, which is Trump for another 4 years!

When the choice is between eating garbage or eating sh**, garbage will be chosen by most. Then of course, Trump supporters like the taste of sh**, but they don't count in this case.

Giving over $10 billion dollars in your life when you make $10 billion a year is like bragging that I've donated $100 over my life working for $30,000 a year. Bloomberg is an abhorrant monster that should not be given any sense of respect. Especially so from people who hate Donald Trump.

Bernie has the largest support among POC than any other candidate in the race. Your racist attempt at whitewashing Bernie's voting base is disgusting.

She's manipulative and cunning. Glad you see it too.

Warren and Sanders are LIGHT YEARS ahead of the republikkklansmen currently in the white nationalist house, led by traitor trump and SStephen Miller. It took trump’s presser to ‘light my fire’. I pray he continues with his outrageous lies, insane blame, whatabout my election, dirty politics, and complete incompetence, incoherence.

Know this. My Illinois is safe. I live close enough to Wisconsin and Iowa to make a difference in the general election there in those TOUGH states. I will work my ass off for whoever the Democratic nominee is. I MUCH prefer Sanders over Putin, bin Salman, Kim jung un, Xi, erDOGan, Bolsonaro, Modi, Bibi, Assad, ETC, traitor trump’s klan.
