Trump and most of his supporters are saying that if Bernie is the Democratic nominee that Trump will win the 2020 election for sure.

As such, I have a stupid question.

If the is such a guaranteed loser, "Why is Bernie leading in the voting for the nomination and why is he leading in the polls against Trump?"

Don't believe the polls. You have no idea of the questions asked and if the people asked are being honest or if they even vote. Remember the polls on Clinton?

Trump supporters simply can't imagine that Americans, writ large, are tired to death of Donald Trump and his mob behavior.

They'll talk about "polls are inaccurate", though will use them themselves if the polls are favorable towards Trump.

In the end, I don't think that Sanders v Trump would be in the bag for Trump. It's likely closer to 50/50 and will depend on how Bernie can get the votes out.
 
right now all the polls on sanders/trump are basically ties.

Often the gods wand surety and to get it they pick a winner and looser astrologically, but Sanders actually has a score to beat Trump, seven to five with Trump having the new moon advantage.

Biden also possibly beats Trump with a 7seven and Tulsi's five gives her about a 25% chance.
 
One non-stupid answer. A 55% tax rate if Bernie wins.

Bernie is leading in the polls like Biden did before Trump's impeachment acquittal: manipulated poll numbers.

Because the general election, Trump versus Bernie, hasn't started yet. Voters don't even know who Bernie is yet. Once they do, the polls will even out, they always do.

A lot of voters haven't even started paying attention to the election yet.

The democrats are coddling Bernie because they don't want to lose the Bernie Bros.

Trump isn't going to coddle Bernie; quite the opposite.

If Trump had his choice of democratic candidate to pick to run against, it would be Bernie.

The only poll that will count is when the people vote. The sentiment is that America will not elect someone who is angry, dour, looks like an old muppet and wants to take rich people's money. Pitting rich against poor doesn't work well anymore.There are many Democrats who are against Sanders and not just because they know a socialist won't win, but because they are ALSO against socialism. Those people won't vote for Bernie even if they are Democrats. They will stay home.

I was referring to the 2016 polls, which put Hillary a lock, even after the polls closed.

Take a look at Hillary against Trump in the polling diagram below from July 2016 up until the general election. Trump was never leading in the polls against Hillary just as he is not leading against Sanders...

Oh come on now. You know the answer. It’s that Trump supporters are all idiots who believe whatever the big, orange Buffon tells them to believe. They use words like “socialist” to scare each other but have no idea what the word means. They flat out refuse to recognize that Bernie isn’t a socialist. He’s a Democratic Socialist and that’s COMPLETELY different.

You just wait. Eventually all these Trump tubes will get their comeuppance and the world will begin healing. I predict a beautiful future for a Bernie America where freedom can finally thrive once we get rid of all those Trump idiots.
