Two years ago Trump fired America's entire pandemic response team

The legacy of Obama's economy has continued into this presidency has done a pretty good job of masking Trump's buffoon incompetence. But Trump's incompetence is chipping away at all that with more Farmers declaring bankruptcy and as manufacturing slumps etcetera.

I always thought that Trump's incompetence would be gloriously evident if there ever were a crisis. Well, a crisis is upon us with the coronavirus.

See, two years ago Trump fired the entire pandemic response team and they weren't replaced. Since the beginning Trump has loathed and abused science but now more than ever he needs science.

In typical Trump fashion he seems to be more worried about how the coronavirus will affect his re-election prospects than those whom the virus has killed and will kill.

To all the morons who voted for this man, I hope you are happy as more people die to this man's epic stupidity.

You dudes will believe anything. :lamo

Who have replaced this pandemic response chain of command?...Mebe the CDC, for example??

Yeah that's a nice thought but he took a bunch a money outta there and the NIH. Response will be slow. Hopefully American immunity will keep to many from dyeing.

This virus started in China so blame it on the Chinese, moron. And we have had a Coronavirus task force in place for over a month. You looney liberals just hate Trump and don't care if you have facts or truth, just any story you can make up is fine. You know like Collusion that never happened and yet you bozos keep saying it.

Is there any doubt that Trump will try to blame any repercussions on his enemies? Donnie is our nation's most cowardly and incompetent President.

He will blame anyone and everyone who he sees as being useful for deflecting the proof of his mistakes. I see him blaming his political enemies, voters who do not support him and members of the media for reporting the facts and try to use it as another purge. This man is mentally unfit for office and there needs to be something added to the 25th amendment so it applies to mental health, intelligence and competency of office. I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to use martial law as a political power grab if the situation gets dire because he obviously has the desire to be a dictator.

Does this mean you support Donnie firing the Pandemic Response Team? Cutting the budget of the CDC and NIH? Lying through his teeth daily? Attacking our military and intelligence services?

He didn't fire a pandemic response team, because there was no pandemic response team...lol

How long can Trump lie and BS the American public before they catch on he's not just a liar and a Bullsh**ter but an incompetent and delusional liar and a Bullsh**ter?

Did Trump Fire the US Pandemic Response Team?

Trump's coronavirus response is worse than incompetent
On Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warned that an outbreak in the United States was probably just a matter of time.

This could be the greatest crisis faced by President Trump. But not only is he obviously incapable of handling the problem, he has already done tremendous damage to America's pandemic response system. The United States is highly vulnerable to epidemic disease because the president is a corrupt, tyrannical moron who can't do the job.....

...Trump's denial of the problem also goes way beyond rhetoric. Over the last two years, Trump has hacked away at the funding and agencies responsible for defending Americans from viral threats. As Laurie Garrett writes in Foreign Policy, back in 2018, Trump "fired the government's entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure." That same year the CDC cut its efforts to fight global diseases by 80 percent due to lack of funding. Trump's administration slashed funding for disease combat across the board, and eliminated a $30 million Complex Crisis Fund.

His recent proposed budget would gut $3 billion in funding for health security. He would slash funding for State Department and USAID global health programs by a third, cut the CDC budget by 7 percent, cut the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by 58 percent, and reduce U.S. contributions to the World Health Organization by half.

Well, unless chapter 12 bankruptcy has significantly risen this last year, it's still less than during president Obama's presidency.

Chapter 12 Bankruptcies Lower Across Farm Country

As for firing the team?

As I understand it, the team was full of egotistical elitists, demanding higher salaries, and not producing any worth while work.

I don't think that chart tells the story you were look for it to....

In case you missed it, there was a pretty serious occurrence that happened that caused lots of damage to the economy and had lots of people filing bankruptcy circa 2008. If you continue looking at the chart, you will notice that the number leveled off fairly quickly, and then started falling just as quickly. If you continue looking at the chart, you will notice that the number started going back up when another pretty important thing happened.

As for firing the team....sure would be nice to have a group of people who could be working on our current problem, wouldn't it? I mean hell....we keep funding defense contractors who don't produce anything useful for decades, so I can't see exactly what you are complaining about.

The CDC and Prevention has existed since 01 July 1946. They do not implement or carry out public health policy.

Health Policy and Strategy at CDC | ADP for Policy and Strategy | CDC

From the Link:

The Office of the Associate Director for Policy and Strategy’s (OADPS) mission is to identify and advance opportunities to use policy, leverage health system transformation and engage other sectors to improve the public’s health.

OADPS features an Office of the Director; the Office of Health System Collaboration; and the Policy Research, Analysis, and Development Office.

OADPS’s priorities are to:

Identify high-value prevention and public health policies and interventions;

Increase the understanding and use of credible evidence of prevention’s impact by policy makers, health care and public health;

Catalyze collaboration among public health, health care and other sectors.

You asked for an example of the White House explicitly ignoring the advice of the CDC and I provided it.

Trump had compassion and allowed them into the US then quarantined them.

No worries. The Supreme Leader says the Coronavirus will die out by Spring. If it doesn't, then it must be the work of the Democrats!

Trump's job is to not spread panic. Figure it out, just once.

Why do you care? Why do you doubt it? You've always accepted that Trump knows more than our military and intelligence services, so why not accept he's a stable genius who knows more than the CDC? Isn't that why you supported the cutting of the CDC and NIH budgets? Eliminating the Pandemic Response Team? Don't tell me you are now doubting the wisdom and veracity of Dear Leader!!! You could be thrown out of the Party of Trump for such thinking!

I don't care about your rhetoric. I care about the spread of the coronavirus.

You asked for an example of the White House explicitly ignoring the advice of the CDC and I provided it. Trump isn't acting according to the advice of experts. He's not following any coherent or strategic thought at all, since he put the coronavirus crisis under the supervision of somebody who doesn't even believe in science.

Not taking a crisis seriously is one way to spread panic, as is the case here.

Oh wow. This critique of Trump coming for another Trump hater.

I guess all the warm fuzzy's about private businesses developing a vaccine just melted away...

Sadly yes, pretty much. In the interim some simple precautions make sense; basic hygiene like washing hands and avoiding crowds. Face masks don't work; they're just too porous and viral particles can pass through them easily. They aren't designed for the purpose of preventing infection, but for splashes, etc. The virus can enter the body through the eyes-basically any orifice in your body can act as a reception centre. Like a Walmart greeter with an Uzi shooting at you.

His job is to lead the nation, not spread BS, lie, hide facts, spread conspiracy theories and Tweet his brains out. Adults can figure that out.

The fact you keep replying to my posts tells me you not only care, but recognize that it isn't "rhetoric".

Yes, I care about the spread of the Coronavirus too. Why do you think I don't? Why do you think gutting the Pandemic Response Team and cutting funding of the CDC and NIH helps prevent the spread of deadly viruses like the Coronavirus?
