:shrug: i was more into this because I like playing with math. But tbh, most of these pandemics or other events are less dangerous than traffic. People are largely poor at assessing risk, just look at us going into worrying territory with creating a homeland security department after 9/11 and not that many people dying. These things are tragedies of course, but we would save more lives investing in far more boring things.

What are you talking about? I used your stats to calculate Rush's number. A second forum member calculated separately 3.5% Also well within the margins of error. The CDC stats show cold death rates at 18% and above. Are these stats wrong? If so, please provide your stats. Again....I used YOUR link to calculate my stats for the CV and the CDC for cold.

Nancy Pelosi pushed the same theme — what we really need to worry about it unrelated proposed budget cuts to CDC

Chuck Schumer blamed Trump for not having enough of a plan

Joe Scarborough mocked claims that coronavirus was being weaponized politically, by weaponizing it against Trump

Bette Midler flat out blamed Trump

And this MSNBC legal contributor blamed Trump’s spending on the wall — as if not spending money on the wall would have prevented a virus that spread in China

Yes, being critical of Rush, a TV entertainer who lies to millions on a daily basis to enrich himself and further the message of the Republican party, for lying about a health risk so blatantly and obviously, that's not a "both sides" argument. We'd have flushed that turd 28+ years ago. We flushed Al Fraken for a ****ing gag picture. Who was that recent lady who had her boyfriend revenge porn her? She's out too. Why can't Republicans hold anyone in their party accountable? They defend them instead, and here we are, with Trump giving a creepy radio shock jock who lies to further the right wing agenda and defend Trump, the medal of freedom.

Unless you say how many cases of flu were confirmed in the past 3 years, your "18%" is just a number you pulled out of your a**. My calculations, based on what you provided, say that there have only been between 2-300,000 cases of flu in the past 3 years. Yet, WHO estimates that as many as 650,000 people worldwide die from the flu every year.

18% of 5 million is 900,000, not 56,000
18% of 3 million is 540,000, not 36,000

Like I said, you pulled your numbers out of your a**.

China alone has reported over 2000 deaths from Corona virus so far in just a matter of a few months. But not to worry, Rush Limbaugh, the world's foremost authority in epidemiology says it's nothing more than the common cold.
