So far this year, I've noticed all but two of my meds that I was taking last year at the same time of the year, have gone down by as much as 20%. One went up $2 for a 90 day supply, the other is now free. A custom tailor made med, that is now covered entirely by a grant from a shoe retailing company. I still have no idea why for the grant.
If anyone bothers to analyze infrastructure needs, more than 90% of needed infrastructure maintenance and reconstruction falls in the hands of the individual states and multi-state authorities like the NY & NJ Port Authority, The Mississippi River Alliance, and so on. Almost every airport is privately owned, the exceptions are like Stewart Airport, a former US Air Force cite, now leased out to private operators. It's under reconstruction to alleviate overcrowding at Newark and JFK Airports. Amtrak, a quasi public agency is anyone's guess, but ridership keeps decreasing, and freight rail traffic over privately held rail right of ways, increasing. Flying is faster, less and less expensive, and far more convenient.
Ike organized the construction of the national highway system with bond issues, to be paid by tolls. Now construction costs for reconstruction are 30 times higher discounting inflation, both because of materials costs and labor regulations. No one wants the necessary higher tolls, and of course we can suspend the labor regulations if we once again import Chinese coolies.
I may want a few free things, but I don't need free things. I have a bad habit. I take pride in paying my own way. But then the gods have blessed with good joss.
