Trump embarks on expansive search for disloyalty as administration-wide purge escalates

I've lost all my faith in the average American and hold no hope for this nation. I used to believe that in times of danger and threats to our democracy, that our country would stand unified as one, as we've always done. Rather than acknowledging the danger that Trump is bringing to our democracy, they are accepting it and even celebrating it. This has caused me to give up on this country and there are times that I just don't give a damn what happens to any of us anymore. The future is not going to be good for any of us. One day, in the not so distant future, these people that have enabled this monster will understand that they fought vehemently on the wrong side of this war against democracy.

The "deconstruction of the administrative state" is complete.

Seems like you are now admitting that Trump is going to win re-election. You mentioned something about our country standing together, unified as one, against threats to our democracy but you didn't say what the threat to our democracy was. We had ISIS and Obama told Trump that our biggest threat would be NK. NK has been in check so far and the ISIS caliphate is no more. China has been an economic threat to the world but Trump has put them in check and now this virus thing has pretty much wiped China out. Iran is probably our biggest threat and they seem to also be in check at the moment. Trump has sanctioned Russia and they are really but a nothing. The Afghanistan war is coming to a close. I don't really know what threat you are talking about. Can you be more specific?

He went into politics thinking the people in the other party were basically good and differences of opinion would not lead to them trying to destroy you.

I'm not so sure about that. Trump basically called most of them the swamp. A lot of the stuff happening to Trump now is paybacks for how he treated Obama. And, under Obama, for much of his presidency, the right were obstructionists and now the left have been obstructionists since about January 2015.

If a swamp isn't drained the swamp will keep leaking.
In a political ... or any other ... work environment, if you work for a boss and at the same time you're secretly working against the business ... you shouldn't be expected to keep your job when you're exposed.

Exactly. The very same thing happened to me at one place I worked for many years. The company fired my boss and replaced him with a totally incompetent fool. I worked with several of my fellow managers against this incompetent fool. In the end he picked us all off and fired us, including me. It wasn't too long after that that the company finally realized he really was a totally incompetent fool and they fired him.

Does 'actively working against' include disagreement with policy? Perhaps if Trump was the very stable genius he claimed to be, he should have recognised that employing and consorting with crooks was not the best move, politically. But he hires only the best people, right? How many of them are in jail right now, or facing jail time?

What Trump is guilty of is in not realizing that the swamp was so deep that when you get rid of the swamp the only people left to replace them are more members of the same swamp.

Just another of the many, many things Trump is blissfully oblivious to. Someone once said, 'judge a person by the company he keeps'. Nobody told Trump.

Trump is cleaning out ****heads?
No.
He's just firing Americans who are not loyal to a particular politician.

If he were firing people w/ cause, there wouldn't be any reference to politics.

He’s firing ****heads... and others.

His choice.

His office.

His duty.

Same could be said for Obama, Clinton, Sanders, whoever. The swamp is everywhere. That's one thing that caused Trump to be elected in 2016. Voters already knew the swamp was everywhere before Trump even took office.

i like that Trump is so insecure (and dirty) that he has to fire everyone that even looks at him the wrong way.

i'm sure we all know people in our communities that are just as insecure and dirty. five bucks says most of us avoid those people.

I don't really know what threat you are talking about. Can you be more specific?

Sure, I can do that for you.

The first thing on the list of threats to millions of Americans is Trump's intention to make deep cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. These are safety nets for people, they are what keeps people alive. Without them, people die by the thousands if not millions. He routinely uses an unsecured phone without any encryption protections. Do you think this is smart?

He has green-lighter a massive increase in the nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles arsenals of North Korea.
He has refused to try to arbitrate the on-going dispute between Japan and South Korea.
He has repudiated the JCPOA while Iran was fully compliant.
He has withdrawn from around 40 other pacts, agreements and treaties unilaterally and without good reason.
He has started trade wars —- which the US is losing —- with China, Canada, and Mexico and has attempted to start trade wars with the EU, Australia, and several other countries.
He had ended the SALT treaties that protected Europe from massive assaults with medium-range missiles.
He has ended the Open Skies treaty that allows mutual inspection between the US and Russia.
He betrayed the Kurds after they lost 11,000 killed and 32,000 wounded defeating ISIS (versus 89/450 US casualties.)
He betrayed the Ukraine and has attempted to make it a tool in US party politics.
He betrayed the Venezuelan opposition and firmly cemented Maduro in power as an ally of Russia.
He “de-normalized” relations with Cuba despite virtually unanimous support for normalization.
He has rolled back environmental and climate legislation and inserted “poison pills” into regulations to prevent them from being re-imposed by a future President.
He has literally surrounded himself with characters of ill repute and diminished honesty. He has forced the GOP to kneel to his will.
He has fueled racism and white nationalism in the US for his own political gains.
He has presided over the largest deficits in US history
*Possibly the most stunning thing Trump has done is to weaken the other two branches of government in order to become more powerful.

*Trump has shown himself to be more of a mob boss than a president for this country. He demands loyalty (or else) from his surrogates and he seeks revenge on enemies new and old. That's a mobster mentality, and should not be a personality trait of our president. If anyone disagrees with him, whether they're republican or democrat, he seeks to destroy them personally and professionally along with their entire family if possible.

*Trump has been endangering national security by gutting out the very agencies that the U.S. depends on to keep this country safe. He fires people who have experience and replace them with 'acting' loyalists who have no knowledge or experience of their jobs. Most of these 'acting' appointees are learning on the job.

*Trump doesn’t respect nor does he value our US allies and without having allies it’s much more difficult to gather intelligence which is vital to national security.

*He has done nothing to address climate change despite significant and growing environmental catastrophies in the US such as major forest fires, floods, hurricanes

*How many times has the Trump White House issued security clearances to people who didn't pass their background checks? They could be national security threats under the influence of foreign enemies to the US.

*Trump doesn't seem to understand that Kim Jong Un is a dictator who rules the most repressive regimes on the planet. Trump has come to his defense several times while refusing to stand with our allies to condemn his actions. Trump is easily corruptible and completely lacks an understanding of ethics

*He was responsible for abandoning our allies the Kurds in Syria which enabled thousands of ISIS prisoners to escape. He remarked that he didn't care because they 'would most likely harm Europe not us'.

*The primary threat Donald Trump is to America is that he held up his hand to swear an oath to uphold the office as the President of the United States and to the Constitution. Yet, he blatantly disregards Constitutional Law, even stating that he “can do anything I want”. His father Fred practiced extortion and don't believe for a minute that Donald didn't learn at the knee of his father. Who else could better pass sensitive information to and from Russia?

All kool aid drinking. You really need to post when you have a clearer head.

You must have forgotten how to read. Choose one of the multiple things I've brought and we'll discuss it.

He has no authority to fire the millions of career employees.. They are protected by civil service laws... The only ones he can "fire" are the 4,000 or so political appointees he himself appointed...
