This is nonsense. He, like everyone else, was forced by criminal law to pay into the system, so there is nothing hypocritical about him or anyone else trying to get their own money back when they retire.

If you believe people willfully "embrace" SS, then give everyone the choice to opt out of the system entirely. You won't support that of course, because virtually everyone under the age of 40 would opt out in second.

No they wouldn't. Most people under the age of 40 have no extra income to invest. Even if they get an additional 12.4% in wages (in fact the employers would doubtless just pocket most or it), middle and lower income Americans would spend the money on life's immediate necessities. If they can save at all, it's for their kid's educations.

If you really think that they'd take the 12% and invest it you just don't know the real lives of lower income citizens.

More 'conservative' ignoring of history. The hypocrisy is benefitting from the socialist programs while badmouthing them. Being 'forced to pay in' is the whine of self centered small minds with no sense of WHY the program was instituted (and quite popular)

Back in the 'good old days' before SSI, people found themselves destitute once they retired. These were the hard working, very religious people the rabid right always points to as the ideal they want to go back to. Of course many under 40 claim they want to opt out, that is the history before social security- people not funding a retirement plan until much older and then it is way too late.

Generation after generation has been angry about social security- until it was time to retire... :roll:

Now back to my point with Robert. First he can't see socialism as way different than Check Point Charlie communism back in the 50's and 60's. He is enjoying the socialist life (even if he objected to having to pay a tiny fraction of his income into the program) and seeing that as bad for others.

He says he ain't buying into socialism yet he already has!!!!! :doh

Time to wake up and see for so many hard working Americans true retirement safety doesn't reside in the private sector- I say this as I watch my 401(k) take a dump as the stock market reacts to Super Flu in China... :peace

You are right in one thing, Trump deserves zero votes from democrats or independents because he is a thief, doesn't know how to run a government and does more golfing and running campaign meetings (since his election 3 years ago) and really does little or nothing to lead the country. They tell us that an American has enough money to last less than a month and that is due to the Democrats. I complain that the Democrats picked the pockets of doctors due to the Democrats not being able to afford medicare. Think they won't pick ours? We are the single payer.
