Putin wanted Trump in 2016, that we know, conspiracy or no conspiracy. If he had wanted Hillary (for him like wanting a toothache) Trump, for one thing, would not have been able to secretly negotiate for a Moscow hotel through most of the primary season. On top of that Putin admitted flat out in a press conference he preferred Trump and before that the intelligence services uncovered various Russian efforts to help cause his choice to materialize. Now, Putin wants Trump for a second term, according to Trump's own national intelligence service. Why does he? Two obvious benefits to Russia come to mind. One, Trump has been a thorn in our trans Atlantic alliances, weakening them to Russia's benefit. Two, Trump has been a strikingly divisive force in the United States, weakening us to Russia's benefit. Seem like two good reasons to me.

What a fine mess we have................

Putin supports Trump in pursuit of a weaker America.

There's a whole host of reasons Putin wants Trump to win again and he'll do everything he can to make that happen. First and foremost, Putin has always endeavored to weaken the US as a global leader and one way to do that is to divide our country along party lines. This division has become intense and borders on hysteria on both sides. Putin wants the US to have another civil war. Secondly, Putin wants to weaken NATO and that's why Trump has trashed NATO since the day he took office. Putin wanted a division between the US and the EU, and that's what he got. Putin wants the US sanctions off Russia, they're killing them economically.

Let’s not be confused by the language that has been used to describe what Russia did. Russia’s cyber attack on American elections means Russia attacked America. Does anyone really think it would end there? If another country attacked America, would Trump let it go and deny it even happened? Mikhail Fishman, the editor-in-chief of the Moscow Times, a paper critical of Putin (which has been attacked more than once), explained the Kremlin thinks of Trump as “a stupid, unstrategic politician.” Vladimir Putin aspires to reinvent Russia to the status as the USSR once had. That's why he invaded Crimea. That's why there's fighting in Ukraine. That's why none of those Baltic states that were once part of the Soviet Union are safe from Russia aggression. Putin wants a return of the Great Russian Empire.

Another question is why have trump/pence, GOP Senators, GOP Representatives, and GOP supporters formed a permanent and rogue election coalition with Putin?

Russia, Russia, Russia, LOL. Here we go again.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, Hillary ran a bad campaign people!!!

It's because he wants to weaken the US.

Keep ignoring evidence from the trump-appointed ADNI that trump just fired. Good thing we now have an ADNI with no experience or intelligence.

He was probably paid off by the DNC.

Several reasons. One, Trump has not yet fully implemented all of the sanctions passed by the Congress. Second, trump has allowed Putin to take control of the Middle East which Putin wants. Putin also sees Trump as weakening NATO, something else Putin wants as it gives Putin more access to markets for his gass and oil. Putin also enjoys the fact that Trump is seen as a clown by the rest of the world and that has made us less in the eyes of the world while making Putin and Russia more important.

Because Trump is anything but the status quo, and the status quo whether Democrat or Republican, doesn't benefit Russia.

Never thought Id see a conspiracy theory posted in the general thread, that wasn't put up by JasperL himself.

You'd have to supply proof that one existed first Linc.

Just don't even try. These are the same people who would call a black Chicago citizen, a white-supremacist for just suggesting that he'd vote Trump.

They're just upset that they didn't get what they wanted in 2016 and are still just making up excuses.

Yes, I need to not even acknowledge it, because they refuse to listen or understand why she lost.

She was basically the worst candidate that a party could ever put forward. Now the DNC has Bloomberg and he's probably just as bad, if not worse than her.

He's done & supported tons of both horrible and questionable things over the years.

Hell, he should be something that the democrats hate. But it's apparent that they want him for some reason, if only just to win against Trump.

I agree and why not run Al Gore again? It wouldn't hurt.

He's mostly a shill at this point. The last three times I've seen anything about the man, he's been hocking his book, or his last movie.

Russia just wants to create division. I don't think they give a damn about anything else.

If they really wanted Trump to be president, the last thing they would do is allow us to know it.

So if Russia wanted Trump, and Trump won, I guess they wanted Pelosi and is why Democrats won the house in 2018.

See how that works.

Thread title:Why Does Putin Want Trump?

Because Putin is ex-KGB and knows how to use people to destroy his enemies or adversaries. In this case he is using Trump to destroy the United States by robbing it blind.

Trump "thinks" he can play Putin. Trump is not in Putin's league. Comparatively speaking Trump neither knows the game nor the score. Trump is simply putty in Putin's hands. Ultimately while it will look like Trump has executed his Imperial Executive complete with succession plan, he will only end up being Putin's tool as will DonDon's successor, either Don Jr or Ivanka.

Trump will end up controlling the means of finance through installing his hacks and thugs at Treasury, IRS and the Federal Reserve to go along with his takeover of DOJ via Barr. Putin will simply syphon off Billions of Dollars. Funny, we are going to end up easier to manipulate for Putin than Ukraine. Now that is a hell of a note isn't it! Manafort Trump and Putin end up executing the exact same plan Manafort and Putin had for Ukraine only this time much more successfully.

Correct. The status quo being democratic traditions and institutions. As authoritarians, they both oppose them.
