The polls say that all of the leading Dem candidates will beat trump in 2020, but this is what will happen based on 2016. In 2016 Sanders campaign was hot, but if you look at the primary votes Clinton beat Sanders. Now if Sanders had to wait for 8 years if Hillary won in 2016 and then in 2020, Sanders knew that by 2024 he would be way too old to be a viable candidate. So Hillary had to lose to Trump and though Sanders did outwardly encourage his voters to vote for Hillary, something tells me behind the scenes he was encouraging them to stay at home or vote for trump which many of them did. I believe that all of the candidates now see that if they want to be viable candidates in 2024, they need to have whoever the candidate is, probably Sanders, be beaten once again by Trump. They can then say you should have made me the candidate and I would have beaten Trump and I can beat Pence in 2024. So they, like Sanders in 2016, will give a lukewarm endorsement of the Dem Candidate and behind the scenes work to have the candidate beaten. So Trump will win again in 2020 with a poor showing in numbers by Dems.

Bernie is probably going to be the democratic nominee.

Bernie can get the left to vote for him.

Trump will grab the right and the center.

Trump wins.

Based on what? Let's at least wait until after Super Tuesday to see how more delegates get allocated and who decides to "suspend" their campaigns.

... something tells me behind the scenes he was encouraging them to stay at home or vote for trump which many of them did ...

I do not believe this for a second.

For one thing, I really just don't think Bernie would do this or even want to do this.

For another it's simply not possible to do this (a) on a large enough scale to affect the election and (b) not have this effort leak out in a major, verifiable way.

Having said this, I think Trump has 75% chance of winning simply because
- economy is good and most sheep think Trump had something to do with it
- he owns Republican party and his propaganda machine works unbelievably well on so many people no matter what he does
- he will cheat and invite Russians (or whoever) to help him rig the vote counts in few key counties in ways that noone would detect, least of all Trump's DOJ

The OP is wrong.

No grounds for the arguments exist.

I don't buy this. In 2016, the American people weren't aware of just how terrible Trump really is. Today they are.

YOu have to remember that Sanders is not a dem, but an independent. He has to run as a Dem bedause he knows what happens to third party candidates. You may not rmember, but Sanderes reverted back to an independent right after th 2016 election. He cares nothing about the Dems or their party, he is in it like all those whose egos push them to be president, in it for himself.

If you read anything aor watched the talking heads after the 2016 election you would know a lot of the Bernie bots either stayed home or voted for Trump. Proof enough for me.

You do realize Trump's approval rting just reached its highest level eveer, 47%. SO there are a lot pof people that drinkk the orange, rather than purplee, poison trump puts out there. We have become a cruel country. Just look at our humor and a lot of it is based on cruelty toward those who are different. And Trump uses cruelty like a hammer and people love it rather than be abhorted by it. Watch Trump when he is spouting his cruelty at his audiences and then watch how they laugh and cheer. So the idea that people will not vote him in for another four years with how the Dems are fighting each other, think again.

Dude...Trump will win, but not for the reasons you trot out. Seriously...it isn't that complicated.

The Dems have nothing to run on except Trump hatred, anti-Trump spinning nonsense and big government policies that nobody but the ultra-left nutjobs want. That's it.

Trump has the same policies he ran on in 2016 plus the fact that he's accomplished a **** load of his goals. Add to that the booming economy, and Trump will win.

btw, with all the bull**** stuff the Trump haters have brought against Trump...corrupt Obama admin puke's actions, Mueller, impeachment and whatever they dream up between now and November...it's quite likely that the Dems will lose the House again. If that happens...guess what...that will be the biggest fail the Dems and Trump haters could have ever accomplished. Heck, it might be another decade before the Dems recover.

So no...it doesn't matter if Sanders is the Dem nominee...Bloomberg...or, if Hillary raises her hoary head and someone tosses her into a campaign wagon like a side of beef. Trump will win.

Yes, I know he does not identify himself as a Democrat and has his own agenda and views on things. He could have pretended to be Dem all along to make his life easier, but he does not and I think that's admirable. I could be be wrong, but am guessing he does this because he has principles and is open about what he is and wants. Still, he can only operate (push any of this views forward) with support of Dems and he knows he is much closer to them than to Republicans. I don't think he "does not care" about Dems or their party. In any case, none of what you said, even if true, would mean he actively supported Trump over Hillary in any way, shape or form.

No one is staying home. Dream on, Trumpers.

I realize that Trump's approval rating has never reached 50% since he's been president. A feat never before achieved by any former president.

We're still 8 months out. I'm not buying your "the sky is falling" hyperbole.

Trump has cost crooked politicians like Hillary tens of millions dollars in lost pay to play potential revenue, and democrats are fired up about that. They are desperate to get rid of Trump so they can get back in the game.
