[Live] 2020 Dem NV Primary Debate Live Thread!

He needs to check his facial demeanor to when he is attacked by a woman. He should have watched 40 hours of Bill Clinton tapes to know how to have a blank look that isn't sneery at best.
Yeah, he needs to stick with what he knows --> media management.

This is the Olympics of virtue signalling. It looks like Warren may get the gold medal.

A part of me just wants to see Buttigieg debate trump.

I suspect that would be spectacular!

Trump doesn't debate though. He'll find some demeaning name for Buttigieg and repeat generalities ad nauseam. Trump isn't a "details" kind of guy.

Agreed, but I dissent with you entirely on her cabinet appointment; would more than love to have her in Bernie's administration as Secretary of the Treasury; those interests have gotten a pass and looted this country for far too long.

The single longest holding political truth in America from the mid-20th century till today is that Republicans (or now T-party folk) know how to run for office and Dems know how to govern. Surely that is the single most significant dichotomy in American politics from mid-20th Century till today. Liz might just be the very best example of that we have.
Well said!

Ooph..Bloombito's just sticking to the nice things he's done. He's going over like a lead balloon.

"Am I the only one who's started a business here?"

Good one.

It turns out Michael Bloomberg's only constituency was people he paid off and millionaire media pundits terrified of their taxes going up.

Disagree.

Pete showed that Amy can't handle criticism very well. It wasn't a brain fart moment, she clearly was ignorant of Mexican politics in general. There's a divide between those of your opinion, and those that think Pete needed it to show Amy not handling pressure very well.

My rankings.

1. Warren.
2. Pete.
3. Sanders.
4. Amy.
5. Biden.
6. Bloomberg.

I tend to agree, by why is Biden so low? He mostly did well. At the very least, better than Amy.

OMG grab your wallet and hold on tight.

1. Warren.

2. Sanders.
3. Pete.
4. Biden.

5. Amy.

6. Bloomberg.

Spacing intended.

Klobuchar just seems totally out of her league on this stage tonight. It's just dumb quips and little else.

Bloomberg should have just said "Stop and Frisk" was a terrible mistake. My fault, too. I feel bad about it. I hope that I have learned from my mistake. I won't repeat this kind of mistake, ever again. I apologize profoundly to the communities and the people I hurt with this misguided policy."

Period, full stop.

Since he didn't, he will pay the electoral price.

I hate stop and frisk or any type of pretext stop because they violate our 4th amendment rights in my opinion.... because law enforcement always do too far when you give them an inch. But that being said it works---- especially when you target the very demographic(s) which are in FACT committing a higher degree of crime than others. It wasn't 80 year old Swedish grandmothers in NYC doing those 600+ murders, it was mostly young black men doing them against OTHER young black men.

Problem is a liberal touchy feely type can't hear that and process it. And eventually what happens in these types of law enforcement successes the police end up perceived as an 'occupying force'.

Bloomberg just should have said, "I have apologized for the policy; I had to learn from my mistakes, and I continue to care about the saftey and security AND THE RIGHTS of my fellow citizens. And as President I will do my very best to use all the power of the office to deal with the root of the problems of crime in the minority communities and that that is to provide hope and opportunity."

Of some load of crap like that which weak minded voters would go for.

These people should all study just 4 politicians and how to talk:

FDR
JFK
Ronald Reagan
Bill Clinton

Because it is all about putting on a show and right now Trump is the biggest showman in the last 30 years.

I'm glad Bloomberg said yes. The way things were going, I thought he was going to apologize for being rich too.

"Am I the only one who's started a business here?"

Good one.

If he's looking to be a smug, out of touch 1%er then yes. He'd be better served explaining his positions than trying to spar with people who have been at this for a while.

Can't argue against that too much.

And tonight, Warren was the one who actually put together a phenomenal show.

Any Dem that wins can pick somebody for Treasury that won't be determined to be a direct declaration of war on business but WILL reflect American values. Certainly you must agree that electing Obama as President was a perfect example of this phenomenon of monied interests considering certain people in certain positions as a direct declaration of war before they can even open their mouths. How did electing Obama actually work out for the Country? The result was Obama using up every single bit of political capital he had just to pass the ACA which he got through by the skin of Nancy Pelosi's teeth.

The GOP declared war on Obama just for standing in the door of the WH and beyond the ACA we got 8 years of stagnating government and overzealous use of Executive Orders for our trouble.

That's a great list, though I'd add Obama to the list. He was a great orator.

Workers on the corporate board? Owning the means of production?

Kudos to Bloomberg for being the only candidate I have heard actively booed by the audience during one of the debates. And it's happened multiple times tonight.

Bloomy is knee jerking himself to death. Even when he has a point to make, he can't make it.

Oh Bernie stop with Denmark. We are not Denmark for God sake.

And Biden did O.K. for himself tonight, I believe.
Meh, not really, IMHO.

But the race is down to Sanders, Buttigieg, and him after tonight.
