Pass a law reuiring Candidates for President to show tax and health records?

Does the contstitution say that a state or the Feds can not add additional requirements, NO. In fact states already add requirements like having to get a certain number of signatures on petitions to be on the ballot. If what you are saying is true, states would be required to list everyone who wants to run as long as they met the basic requirements listed in the consitution.

Actually, it does. You might want to actually read the document for a change. The only way the federal government or the States can alter the requirements established by the US Constitution is by amending the US Constitution. They do not have the authority to alter the US Constitution by statute law.

All public officials have both their wages and the taxes they pay available to the public. However, unless and until they are elected to public office their financial information is private. Only when they start receiving public funds does the public have access to that information. Meaning Trump's financial information concerning the office of President became available to the public on January 20, 2017, the day he was sworn into office. But none of the financial information prior to that is available to the public because he did not hold public office prior to that date.

It has only been an issue since Trump was elected, since he was the first non-politician to be elected President. Every other President, including George Washington, held public office prior to becoming President. Which made their financial information already available to the public.

Besides all that, what other president is suing multiple entities to prevent disclosure of his financial records? This guy has been doing this since 2017, court after court and we'll finally here from the SCOTUS this spring. He has spent mega millions hiding his records. WHY? What is he so afraid of?

I firmly believe it's Russian money laundering that will be exposed, among many other tax cheats. We may never see what he's hiding. To me, it disqualifies him from the presidency.

It is a combination of two laws actually. The first law is the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (Public Law 95–52).

The second law allows access to that information by the public. With regard to the federal government it was first introduced as Section 3 of the Administrative Procedures Act (Public Law 79-404) enacted into law June 11, 1946. Congress amended Section 3 of the APA in 1966 and the Freedom of Information Act was born (Public Law 89–487) on July 4, 1966.

FOIA has changed numerous times over the years, and it is currently (as of 2016) Public Law No. 114-185.

It should also be mentioned that this will vary from State to State. All 50 States have some form of public information access law. The State of Colorado, for example, has the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA), New Jersey has its Open Public Records Act (OPRA), and California calls it the California Public Records Act, etc., etc.

SO there are laws that presently prohibit, but there is nothing in the constitutiion that says we can not change the laws and provide for the information on health and taxes.

Please provide the section in the constitution that says that the government can not make paws that require items beyond what the minimum reqirements listed in the constitution for elected office. I suspect you are going to find it very, very hard to do so. And I have taken a course in the constitution, so I have read it and taken tests on what is included.

Name another President who was a private citizen before taking office. All prior Presidents (including George Washington) were public officials prior to becoming President, but not Trump.

He is protecting his private property against unreasonable searches and seizures against Democrats who seek to violate his rights. Why am I not surprised that Democrats would, once again, trample all over the rights of Americans. They make a regular habit of it, and this criminal activity by Democrats needs to stop. The Fourth Amendment applies to Democrats in Congress as well as law enforcement.

Only the truly deluded and mentally deranged believe Russia had anything to do with any election in the US.

Read Article V of the US Constitution and get a clue. The Tenth Amendment prohibits the federal government from exercising any power not specifically granted to them by the US Constitution, and may only alter those powers through the amendment process specified under Article V.

Clearly you failed the course you took on the US Constitution, since every grade school child knows more than you, and wouldn't have to ask such stupid questions.

I would not be nearly so sure as you of the quality of education American children receive. Abysmal IMO would be an understatement. You are also presuming the gentlemen had a civics class that was worth damn or even had one, at as more than a few children do not receive a course in civics or government.

You are right, of course. I was thinking of the days when I was a child being taught civics. I overlooked the fact that Democrats abolished the civics requirement in public schools when they created the Department of Education in 1980. My education took place during the 1950s and 1960s, which predates the criminal activity by the Democrats.
