Since Trump's rise to the nation’s highest office, his inflammatory language — often condemned as racist and xenophobic — has seeped into schools across America. Many bullies now target other children differently than they used to, with kids as young as 6 mimicking the president’s insults and the cruel way he delivers them.

Trump’s words, those chanted by his followers at campaign rallies and even his last name have been wielded by students and school staff members to harass children more than 300 times since the start of 2016, a Washington Post review of 28,000 news stories found. At least three-quarters of the attacks were directed at kids who are Hispanic, black or Muslim, according to the analysis. Students have also been victimized because they support the president — more than 45 times during the same period.

Although many hateful episodes garnered coverage just after the election, The Post found that Trump-connected persecution of children has never stopped. Even without the huge total from November 2016, an average of nearly two incidents per school week have been publicly reported over the past four years. Still, because so much of the bullying never appears in the news, The Post’s figure represents a small fraction of the actual total. It also doesn’t include the thousands of slurs, swastikas and racial epithets that aren’t directly linked to Trump but that the president’s detractors argue his behavior has exacerbated.

It's actually good news.

At least the brats aren't bringing in guns.

More Washington Post propaganda.

IMO the only people who are actually leaning towards totalitarian thought, are those who feed on and wholeheartedly believe this moral panic effort to demonize anyone they don't agree with.

Someone dares to disagree with your viewpoint? They must be a Nazi!

What do you do when you find a Nazi? Punch them!

The real hate speech, IMHO comes from purveyors of ideas and narratives like the author of this WaPO "article." :coffeepap:

The NYT will be doing a feature story soon that Trump has caused dogs and cats to fight!
It's quite a troubling story. Just think about it... Dogs and cats fighting. Oh the humanity! :lamo :peace

Did you notice that part about kids being bullied because they support the President (so by Trump haters) still being Trump’s fault?

Considering the racial aspects here, i don't think Nazi is too far off.

Yes indeed. Its foolish to think demagogues only bring out violence from one side.

When we were kids, Donnie was often bullied by kids who could not play baseball as well as he did. He'd arrive home beaten and bruised. Of course those same bullies bullied every other kid in the neighborhood, they could get away with bullying for any reason. Fred Sr. sent Donnie to military school, to learn how to defend himself. Donnie returned and tried bullying those who had bullied him, still caught the short end of the stick. But they left alone after that, more than a few walked away with wounds of their own. And by then, many of those they had bullied, had drank their milk, and the bullies finding they were on the receiving end of the equation. The bullies weren't so eager about the revenge of the bullied.

Bullies have been around since the first kids found they were bigger and stronger than smaller kids. I remember coming home bruised, but then the bullies learned about my older brothers, and worse, my older sisters who were much more vicious. Later, when I was bigger and stronger, no bullies got away bullying my friends who were smaller and believed easy targets. So it goes as part of growing up. It's not all that bad. When you stand up afterwards, you understand what kind of cowards bullies always are, and the bruises don't hurt that much. You grow stronger for having survived, and far less fearful.

The words of a president, or any politician won't change any of this. Stop pretending those words matter. Most of those bullies can't read and don't, nor do they watch political news. Bullying is all about the insecurities of the bullies, not the bullied or the words of politicians. For bullies, any seemingly easy target will do.

Since bullies are using the words of the president, and the incidences have gone up since has been elected, so I suspect your analysis here is incorrect.

But your description of Trump being bullied himself explains a lot.

Horse manure, or fake news, take your pick.

That has got to be one of the dumbest things I've read.

More generally: once again folks, take note how the Trumpists that love those threads that talk about how The left is all bad/violent based on an article about the acts of one person respond when the article is about Trumpist bad behavior.

Yes, I did.

Did you notice there were 45 of them compared to 300 in the other direction?
